world cup results

after half the teams have started the world cup, I have some
conclusions:

argentina is as solid and effective as we had all thought,
so they are really a good bet

england will have to improve if they want to pass cos sweden
showed they have enough quality to win against anybody.

france will have to fight 100% if they dont want to cry for
their sad mistake in the first match.

germany is in a much better state than I had thought (they
want us to believe that they dont think they can win, but I
tell you this, they really can) its not only because they
won 8-0 with such a weak opponent, its that they have lots
of interesting players.

tomorrow we will see how other 2 favourites do, brazil and
Italy.

yeah i have to say .. the german teamwork was very
impressive. it'll be interesting to see what happens with
germany vs ireland .. that'll be a real test.

i think france will still pull through, but some motivation
is whats needed.

argentina are looking mighty impressive.

my opinion is that we played bad in 1st half and england
played bad in 2nd half. anders svensson should have played
from start tho...

the difference between Italy and spain is:
if spain plays bad we go home cos we dont even qualify for
1/8 finals, and if we play fine we get to 1/4 finals (the
furthest)

if italy plays bad they only get to 1/4 finals, if they play
good they win or at least get to the final.

good luck my friend (woofer)

I say BRASIL - TURKEY = 2 - 1

Not really.... I'm not overly fond of the Turkish football
teams (BUT NOT the nation) since I support Leeds United and
they fucked up our entire season! But there we go.

I'm doing a game here in Italy where who guess more world
cup's result win.
We're in 31 players and at this moment I'm the first with
14pt.

If a player guess full result i.e. (mexico - croatia = 1 -
0) make 3 pt.
If a player guess onle who win male only 1 pt.

I guess PARAGUAY-SOUTH AFRICA=2-2
ENGLAND-SWEDEN=1-1
ARGENTINA-NIGERIA=1-0
EIRE-CAMERUN=1-1

The final premium is 310,00 €

Today I missed MEXICO - CROATIA but I hope to guess BRASIL
and ITALY...

Did you hear about the Englishman who bet on Spain winning
the cup, and stands to win £1million if they do so?

I can't see Spain winning... they are the perennial
underachievers, they have a horrible record in the World Cup

I have Italy to win the cup @ 6-1
but I feel Ecuador are as under-rated as Senegal
so it could be very tight... Italy do tend to make a slow
start, who thinks we could have our first 0-0 here ?

well I felt very dissapointed with rivaldo, I dont like
people who try to fake to take advantedge of the
situation... he plays in my team (barça) but he might leave
to Lazio

anyway brazil made the best match so far in the world cup
IMO, its clear that germany did a great match, but turkey is
way better than the arabs

Now for Italy v Ecuador...

offline smokehammer from Saigon (Vietnam) on 2002-06-03 12:35 [#00247717]

I have 4 bets on this one >

Englandv Sweden 1-1 =6-1(won!)
Germany in final = 10-1
Portugal in final = 7-1
Italy win cup = 6-1

Germany or Portugal will reach the final if Italy don't, so
I feel I have some very good prices there ! No other team in
the top half of the draw impresses me enough to reach the
final , so unless Italy reach the final and LOSE, I stand to
make even MORE money ! :D

well and I must admit that I saw a great ITALY.

yeah but thats Italy for you. Once they are 2 in front they
usually settle for the win and keep a clean sheet.

first time i've seen Totti play, he impressed me.

although i'm english i think England have no chance, we'll
get thrashed on friday against argentina.

i was wondering what the hell happened to del piero??? he
was only a substitute and played, well, bad! he used to be
the master!

he wasn't much concentrate and his legs was colds...
Del Piero is my idol but at this moment I must admist that
Totti and Vieri are playing better.

i haven't seen much of del piero (or any other italian
players) because the big teams didn't come for in the
european cups, but i always thought vieri is overrated (he
scores a lot, granted, but he has difficulties even passing
a ball!!). hopefully we'll see more of del piero and his
free kicks especially :)
