hmm..come to think of it..but what is the status of IDM now
used to be the status of Industrial..but waaay too many dumb
people are supposedly listening to INDUSTRIAL now..and even
dumber people are making "Industrial"..so I think it's more
of a matter of time and passage into the realm of
acceptance..I am warning you..the masses are about to
breakdown the doors that's seprating IDM fans from the
rest..and you have to thank bands like Boards of Canada for
that..It is being featured on the mainshelf of every
mainstream music store down here in the EnZed..right next to
the JLos and the Dentiny Hos..and the other day I read a
really smug review of it in the local giveaway pub guide
rag...(it's really lowbrow and degenrate stuff..this rag the
kiwis should know..I am talkin about The Fix..)..
basically BoC are to IDM what NiN were to Industrial..the
band that takes a genre to the masses

here hehehe
TEKNO - FOOD FOR THE BRAIN

hello cybernauts !!

TEkno is music created to enlarge the abilities of the brain
!

The brain emits some waves ( see brain waves ) like a , b ,
theta .
This brain waves are used to connect the two halfs of the
brain .
The right part with the left part .

Those frequencies are used in creation of TEKNO music !!!!!
(.)

So i fell free to say two things :

A) TEKNO sessions are sessions to heal the brain (
interconect the two halfs of the brain )
B) HoUSe sessions of AG are sessions to heal the emotional
part of our soul !!!

AG FOOD FOR THE BRAIN or AG MEDICINE SCHOOL !!!!!!!!!!

:))))))))

Yep, it's like studying literature or any other art. The
process of examining it is "mental exercise" like doing
maths/logic puzzles/programming etc.

Does any of our IDM superHeroes have a PhD or equivalent ?

I don't think so - then how can dumb people make intelligent
music ?

There's this urban lengend about RDJ or Ae writting entire
piece of software for their own purpose. Do you think that's
truely true or do they call programming the use of MAX
patches ???

I don't like IDM because it makes me feel intelligent /
don't need that

nah. and a lot of braindancers are al least as closed minded
about music (ie hate all rap, hate all rock, hate all pop
without exception).

often means you appreciate sounds more though, which is a
good thing!!!

that is true sido, intelegence takes many different forms.
But you dont get intelegent of Idm music.
You may become more open for new things.
When making the music? well, you probobly end up being well
educated in forms of music. but still not smarter.

smart is something else think.

am i smart?
dumb?

IDM is an horrendous acronym,as if only that music genre
(genre? Do exit music genres?) were intelligent.
And classic music? Is it not intelligent?

I consider myself very open minded about music... to an
extent... I like rock more than IDM, actually, but I'm
obsessed with them both, that's a good thing.

But popular music makes me extremely angry, and actually
DEPRESSED when I hear it. I want their listening audience
drawn and quartered. But aside from the obvious targets,
music meant to make money off the expense of stupid
teenagers, I like everything.

And IDM is a a moronic term, but I just shut out the meaning
in my head. IDM isn't even an acronym to me anymore, just a
''word''. You know what I mean when I say IDM, it's
convenient.

Another thing that literally makes me sad is pop-country
music, the Dixie Chicks and Garth Brooks and all that. The
stuff they play on their instruments is actually REALLY
tough to play, but... fuck... the music and songs are so
jawdroppingly awful... it brings a tear to my eye that the
Beatles aren't here to be both the most creative band, and
the most popular. They could save us.

I don't think listening to IDM(or any other genre) is an
accurate indicator of intelligence.

Although people that are constantly searching for new music,
ideas, expieriences, are probably a hell of a lot more
creative. Because that's what creativity is- gobbling up an
enormous amount of unrelated things, and then vomiting it
all out in a new and beautiful form.

And now for something you might find
funny/sad/interesting----

Scientists kill mice with dance music

by Danielle Demetriou
Scientists who forced drugged mice to endure fatal doses of
loud dance music have been accused of " despicable" cruelty
by animal welfare campaigners.

The study by Cambridge University examined how loud music
strengthens the harmful effects of methamphetamine, the drug
commonly known as speed.

Wendy Higgins of the British Union for the Abolition of
Vivisection, said: "These sick experiments are absolutely
despicable. Just because people choose to take drugs and go
to raves doesn't justify subjecting animals to suffering and
death in a laboratory."

The scientists, who used a total of 238 mice in the
experiment, concluded that loud music strengthened the toxic
effects of methamphetamine in animals.

I think, along with classical and jazz, it does streatch
one's musical intelligence (ie-noticing patterns, sounds,
structures, ect..) but doesn't make you smarter. For
example, I'm still awful at maths, but I believe my
imagination has been widened by the music I listen to.

Nah. But it puts you in an intellectual mood, which i found
helpful for cognitive behavioral therapy. So maybe yes, if
it helps you deal with your emotions in a diffrent way (but
that can be said for any kind of music)

its like weight training for your grey matter

this, i feel, nails it. the nuance, though, is it's rather
specialized. i've taken to tapping my fingers to music on
the train, and i've felt increasing dexterity in my fingers;
better motor control. it absolutely translates into results
when i'm twiddling knobs and playing keys, later. i've taken
the energy of it and directed it into something more
specific.

clever, though? cleverness is a different thing entirely.
i'd actually struggle to define it... but, i would say --
weight training won't help you with agility; reaction time.
or cleverness

maybe i should learn to think in time to music. or, well,
take another stab at it. i did try a few years back; didn't
really happen

also transcribing rhythms for pulse based music (ie most of
it), eg. onto a step sequencer or whatever notation you
prefer. That to me is more fundamental than pitches - it's
like getting the relative scale of things in a drawing
correct... serial/parallel pitches come after.

i love talking too and fucking about with people who have
learned music theory through a university or school.... It
is a cliche to say that 'yeah they have it in their little
boxes and nothing else exists' but its also true.
Where's that Frank Zappa wiki

'Classical music' has the reputation for being the music
that clever people listen to, but its all basically pop
tunes, groups of 4. And people will get snobby about it (my
Mam included) that it's somehow 'cleverer' to listen to that
rather than eg. dub tunes and be well into the timbre and
what is going on in the mix. I wouldn't say they aren't
'clever' enough to notice that there is variation going on
somewhere else that U can dig.... I'm not really sure why it
doesn't catch their attention that there is equal depth to
be explored.

I don't think it's very clever to be listening to the same
tunes all the time, clever is having curiousity about stuff
and probably getting bored quite easily.
