I downloaded the preview track and opened it up in Bias Peak
- theres not much change during the 58:35 - just a massive
wall of reverb and some random synthfarts...

(I guess A L L the funny & detailed stuff is gone and lost
during the preview-file's radical mp3-compression in
mono.... :D :D :D )

maybe AE fucked up and only had an houranda half of music,
and saw everybody complaining decided to put an hour long
reverb blast to fill the rest of the space at the last
minute that theymade like yesterday.

offline jules from United States on 2008-05-30 12:09 [#02211612]

maybe they just copped out. i wasnt expecting the live set
at all, i mean, i have sets from that tour, i dont need
more. but cmon, 1 an hour of reverb as an ep? thats just
terrible. i dont care who says dont complain about this and
be happy about ae releasing stuff. f that. this is a joke

realised you have to pop home to turn off the coffeemaker

Guys, calm down! It's ARRRT! :P

Why can't we see this done with Draft (or Untilted if there
was any outtake material from that?) There's at least 29
other versions of Draft so...

offline jules from United States on 2008-05-30 12:25 [#02211618]

i just farted in a pickle jar. thats art too.

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2008-05-30 12:26 [#02211619]
Points: 1038 Status: Lurker

but Draft was perfect so Autechre didnt need to make up for
its lack of goodness by releasing 50 different versions. it
stood great onits own. Quaristice does not stand nearly as
strong on its own and needs these extra versions to act as
stilts if you will to prop itself up.

offline jules from United States on 2008-05-30 12:27 [#02211620]
Points: 754 Status: Lurker

do you think that this whole release thing with all the
separate versions and what not was the plan from the start
of quaristice?

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2008-05-30 12:29 [#02211621]
Points: 1038 Status: Lurker

not necessarily, but i think it was (at least quadrange) a
response to all the fanboys and reviewers saying the tracks
were too short. And also i personally think Autechre is not
super confident about tracks like Perlence so they wanted to
release like 6 versions to make up for it so fans could
choose.

doubtful, because if it was, they would've just made a
massive collection of the completely unedited jams, and it
would've been loads of discs in a box set, and that would've
been pretty fucking cool imo

offline jules from United States on 2008-05-30 12:38 [#02211626]

that would have been pretty cool. i am curious to listen to
all the pieces strung together like gwely, future and
pigster were talking about. im just not sure how much
perlence i can handle...

Well, as one who is greatly enjoying the more "ambient"
sides to the whole Quarisxperience I am enthused by the idea
of 30 mins of Ae reverb (currently 61% downloaded).

My ideal Quaramber tracklisting is;

9013-2
Altibzz
Perlence suns
Perlence subrange 3
Outh9x
Altichyre
nofour x
Perlence losid2
fol4
nu-Nr6d
paralel Suns
Theswere
nowtwotwo
(then depeding on what Perlence subrange 6-36 is like, that
may well go a the end).

This shit sucks. Simple as that. I'd take a song like
Cap.IV at half its length before the entirety of this milk
turd fool fest, any day.

Fuck this. Its milk. Straight milk. Fucking toy shit.

I must say, I am pretty disappointed. Perhaps that's because
I've been listening to Vidna Obmana all day, and some of
stuff is just as minimal as this Perlence track, but far
more intricate and rewarding (and more of a potently
atmospheric listen.) And Robert Rich's 'Below Zero' has been
on heavy rotation lately, which is brilliant dark ambience.

I was kind of expecting something like this, though. At
least they didn't do a Drane2 and leave loads of silence.
:-p

...I just wondered this morning...

I severely doubt it (cos I doubt Quadrange would be accepted
as a proper release by them) but you don't think Ae are
trying to end their contract with Warp to move on to another
label or maybe even start their own?

I've thought about that too, but I think the mood between ae
and warp are good and they probably will keep doin' business
together...

(hmmm - I'm liking that big wall of reverb & synthfarts
better and better, booth & brown really can't do anything
wrong.... :D )
