these digital EPs of music that pieces together Quaristice
reminds me of the MILES DAVIS box sets, where all the
previously un-released out-takes that comprised the final
edited version were made available to fans. It's a
fascinating insight to see how Teo Macero pieced together
the different versions from Miles' tracks to form the final
product. (See On the Corner, A Tribute to Jack Johnson, or
In a Silent Way for ref.)

Autechre aren't the first to do this kind of release. The
difference though is that Columbia Records did some
graverobbing to unearth these tracks long after Miles'
death, so it wasn't the intent of the artist for his music
to be released this way.

So far I'm not enjoying the new EP stuff. I still trying to
fully enjoy the original Quaristice. I'll be selecting
individual tracks from bleep, but so far Blyz Castl remains
the best non-standard edition Quaristice track IMHO. That,
and Fol4.

Blyzl Castl and Perlence Suns, woah, incredible tracks, I'm
kind of liking the way you have to hunt these extra track
buggers down, but yeah, Ae are doing good RIGHT NOW.

I think this new plc track is alright. If all the plc
versions were connected into a 15 minute track, this one
would be appropriate for the start. Alot of these quari
tracks need better mixing, and apparently you have to hear
alot of versions to get the big picture. why not just make
some solid ones that capture every good moment.

for instance, when surripere kicks off into its beats, you
think wow this is amazing. but most of quari just hits off
in some middle point, where the appreciation for half the
sounds and structures are missed on the epic scale of
development.

its quite a mockup, but with all these fucking versions
you're bound to find one you like.

i agree.
there are very few tracks with unique personalities, like
tewe, hub, uviol, surripere and so forth.
with all these versions its more dynamic, but also less
depth in some way.

i do think fol4 and tankakern have it though, and i do hope
this new tank is good.

It's quite a pathetic situation with all these versions. It
would seem that they had so much fun releasing the god
damned tracks that they forgot how to set aside all the
alternate versions and just give one supreme version of
each.

The dynamic of a song highly relies on the progression. And
with every track on quaristice, the potential is there but
you have to find it within parts of each version. That
pisses me off.

With the right editing on track structure, we wouldn't have
needed all these versions. Quaristice could have been one of
those great 10 track ae albums.

The ambient tracks should have been kept to themselves,
there's so many artists out there doing that sort of thing
that it's completely unnecessary for autechre to be doing
it, especially with the skill they have, and the LIMITED
amount of TIME on a new ALBUM for such SLOW and MINIMAL
tracks.

how can you say what someone else could have, should have,
would have, done? theyre making the albums not you.
everyone on this board has different tastes and needs from
said tracks, be thankful that now we have all these
different versions you can make your own individual album.

i think its still yet to fully kick in for me. while being
all pro 'them releasing more music for the people who are
happy for them to release more music', i find one thing
odd.
i mean, the original album was released (downloadable) in
january. is it supposed to have kicked in by now? why give
it half a year to let the fans settle down and get nice and
cozy with it, only to release alternate versions of the
songs, which means the fans have to wait even longer before
they can get all nice and cozy and comfortable with it all.

unless of course, none of this was planned. maybe they're
just doing all this to please the fans. then why are the
fans complaning? what the fucks going on!?

Har du ikke hørt The Roots? Merkelig. Nåja.

Hahaha, nja.

nettopp begynt. Dessverre kan ikke jeg gå før ihvertfall
over helgen siden jeg jobber, men programmet ser mildt sagt
begredelig ut uansett. Kiss skal jo spille 1 Juni, men jeg
tror strengt tatt jeg overlater den konserten til faktiske
fans.

19 minute PLC
13 minute 90101
10 minute Perlence Range 7

there's at least a couple which sound like classic b12. it
sounds like a combination between old unreleased tracks and
some newer ones.
the live tracks from the second disc sound more like your
average banging techno. making the second disc a bit
redundant, imo.
oh well, the actual album makes up for it.

perlence subrange 3 is kinda shit (that preset machine drum
bass drum is taking over the whole track), love the new
tkakanren though as well as 9013-2

9013-2 = 2 minutes of random layering sine waves. Think
avant-garde/early electronic and you're there.

Tkakenren = 10 minute version of Tankakern. Not too much
different here, some extra noisy/thunderous snares here and
there, and some noise growls. Some random pad stuff at about
3:40. Bass drops out half way thru and leaves the
squelchy/acidy line and the random pad. It all gets pretty
dark then until the end.

90101-51-9 = Ok, Ae are making me re-extend my version of
90101... bastards! :P Pretty much the same stuff as the 4th
track in this release, just rearranged a bit...
*cough*point?*cough*

Perlence Subrange 3 = This is the bit Ae left off the end
methinks. Very nice spacey echoing pads across that uneasy
drumbeat.
