For those who paid for the full lp, just wait a couple of
hours, I'm sure the "not in my order" problem will be fixed
by then...

2 tracks in and I'm having difficulties understanding why
this is so different that it is worth releasing. Truly sad.

Yeah. The Perlence one is really hardly different at all. I
mean, obviously, there's lots of small differences, but I
don't buy new material to play spot the difference.

the plc CCC one is my fave version of that so far, really
good, total different mood to the cd versions to my ears ,
got a old gescom vibe going on , lush crispy bits , wicked
synths, i thought it was well different

It's longer! It has a range of 7... I think they are turning
these tracks into 20 minutes epics for people who have all
the different versions. Perlence, perlence range3 and
perlence range 7 = aprox 20 minutes perlence bonanza! Same
thing yesterday with the plc. I think it works. I find what
Autechre is doing to be quite revolutionary and progressive
in relation to the album medium. Sure, Radiohead gave an
album away for free (bloody 160kbps cheapness!) but Autechre
practicaly did so too with Quaristice Versions and now they
keep the album growing into something massive that I don't
think I've quite seen the likes of ever before. There is no
doubt about it: Autechre is still at the cutting edge!

i like the lengths of these new tracks. it gives them more
'air', so to speak. i don't know how to put it better, but
the original tracks tend to be frighteningly dense and need
way more attention. these new ones are some sort of alien
ambient. very relaxing, in an odd way.

i wonder if anymore unreleased bits from the 2005 untilted
tour will show up in this, similiar to how Perlence range 3
and the Plclpc had 2 extra melodic passages that were
straight from that set. many more very catchy pieces from
that live set remain, some of them i was very happy to hear
in Quaristic disc 2

Hmmm, probably a little bit. But, as far as I am concerned
it's just another repackaging of tunes that we have already
heard that might sound a little different. Hence my comment.

You know I was thinking about this earlier and it was kinda
pissing me off, first the SE, now this. They are exploiting
their clout and taking people's money by tweaking around the
same tracks they already put out.

Then I thought about the 12", or the maxi single.

It isn't a new thing for the album to have the "radio" cut,
and then the 12" or maxi having the extended mixes. Maybe
this is their way of contributing to the current net mix
culture by giving djs different options to work with? Or
letting listeners choose their favorite version of a track
and just get that, make their custom quaristice etc. Once I
started thinking about it that way I felt a lot better about
it.

I've been taking their recent output as one big mutating
organisim

If you take:
Untilted
the Untilted Live Set
Quaristice
Quaristice Special Edition
Quadrange
and The Quarisitice Live Set (need a soundboard!)

as one big piece of organic work, it's like one big organism
that keeps breaking up and coming back together.

None of it has anything on Confield/Draft/Gantz Graf, but I
think the fact that they're releasing so many different
versions of this material is the biggest thing this era of
Autechre has going for it.

The PLC ccc is like some wormhole in the time/space/music
continuim, I think I aged about 1000 years listening to it.

I like the added elements to one of my fave Quidsinistice
tracks Perlence, makes me feel like a ... like I don't know,
listening to a slightly better version of Perlence.

Maybe next time Autechre could release an abum before it's
finished and just upload tracks willy nilly, posting
revisions, reordering it.... oh wait .

it does seem a bit excessive (and silly), but i guess theres
no real reason to be upset about it. either enjoy it or not
care. it almost seems way too obvious saying this, but i
find it weird how a lot of people seem to be upset and
complaining about this extra music.
i look forward to listening to it when its all released.
then making my own quarastice playlist, and feeling superior
and special knowing that my running order of tracks is
actually much much better than any other fan's out there.

Yeah, making uber-extended versions of these (I've got a 20
minute jam of the PLC cut up here) is lush. Then burn them
off on to a CDr and that's the best Quaristice you can get.

Am I the only person who still likes the originals best?
Perhaps it's just because I listened to them first and got
used to them. But I do like the flow of Quaristice with all
its little tracks, especially the first half (for some
reason the second half looses me a bit, even if I like a
couple of tracks individually from it.) I like how concise
and to the point the original Quaristice tracks are, even I
generally prefer longer tracks.

I wish they'd do more stuff like Simmm. Can't get enough of
that track.

i still like the original quarastice, but some of the tracks
i really dont give a shit about (SonDEremawe, bnc Castl,
plyPhon etc).

also, im happy the tracks i really like aren't being worked
with too much. for example, i didnt care much for IO tho the
extended version did the trick, where as i loved the
original Tankakern but didnt care much for (versions)
version.
i dunno. im also not entirely sure i wouldve loved .. say..
surripere, had they of released 3 or so alternate versions
of it back in 2003.

I don't like those three either, at all. I've just
programmed them out. Seems to work much better without them
anyway...

It's interesting you mentioned the idea of different
versions of Surripere... It probably would have spoiled
things a bit for me. It just seems so complete and refined
as it is, even if they may have gone through all sorts of
revisions and different versions to pick the final one for
Draft. It's not Ae's fault; I just can't get my head around
the idea of releasing lots of versions of the same track -
I'm just used to a track being a track, full stop. I know
it's no new thing and that in genres like dub it works a
treat, but for Autechre's music, I don't get it.

Perlence Suns sounding like some nice ambient bass drops.

I really like bnc Castl for some reason. It sounds like
Autechre just robbed a bank and now they are driving Herbie
in a high speed car chase. Driving up walls, on two wheels
on a bridge railing, that sort of thing.

Perlence Suns: Minimal and mighty ambient bass with lots of
space...and I love that little reverb encore at the end...
but I didn't hear much perlence and it only hinted ever so
discretely to paralel Suns... an interlude of sorts I
guess...but nice.

Oh for fuck's sake, for all those Quari-tracks that go on "a
bit too long" Perlence Suns could easily, easily double its
length (ooer) and not out stay its welcome. Among the
greatest music released lately has been Autechre's brooding
ambient pieces (Paralel suns, Outh9x, Notwo, nu-Nr6d etc) ,
I'd like to collect them all and create a version of the
dark side of Amber. Good work fellas!
