act?
why do u want them to act? u mean like histrionics? ive
seen people do that, i'm not too keen.

I think they are enjoying it, as far as I can tell anyway :)

Even if they had a backing video running some fractal type
shit like the gantz graf video that would be cool. They
could make it so that the visuals responded to the music in
real time.

when i saw autechre (that historic moment) they seemed
really into it. why? cause they were playing fantastic
music. all power.

I think not having any visuals or even really having to look
at them are what AE live shows are all about. It seems to
suit them because they don't want people to be concerned
with what they see or any sort of band image, they only want
people to use their ears. It also explains why they have the
lights turned off. And why may of their covers are fairly
blank or minimal. And why the track names mean seemingly
nothing.

Yea except that is their image, whether they mean it that
way or not (or admit it to themselves or not). The
minimalism, obscure track names, minimal covers, etc all
create this enigmatic presence that becomes their image.

Most of the time it works as a part of the overall autechre
experience. I just think with their live shows in
particular they should recognize that the venues they will
be playing are designed based on how traditional shows are
experienced .. an auditorium that faces a stage with people
watching what is happening on that stage.

It is up to the artist to succeed with what they are given.
The brick and mortar is not going to bend to suit them to
create the experience they want to make.. they have to adapt
to what they have available. When I saw autechre live it
was slightly uncomfortable because there was a stage, it was
mostly standing room only so people were standing in the
auditorium facing that stage, and there was autechre looking
into their laptops for 45 min. So you either stare at them,
stare at someone next to you, the ceiling tiles, or your
shoes.

Those of you complaining about the live shows have obviously
never been to a club. If you have, did you just stand and
stare at the DJ for a few hours? I should hope not. Better
to just drink, dance and enjoy yourself ya know.

ae never seems to come to norway like EVER im dying to see
them live here.

as for the album itself im more excited than i have ever
been, because over the years i have had a lot of time to
'mature' while their music has been a close follower for
years now.
this album isnt only 'just' a new album, as of today im more
settled musically, some years ago when i had just discovered
music really everything seemed to be moving all the time but
now ive listened to so much music that it will be fun to get
new material from one of my favorite artists of all time.

and finally as for the leak, i was really anxious for a
period about having a leak, but i might just cancel that
altogether and rather just take the bus into town and buy
the record for the first time liek the old days. kind of
like a celebration personally for me that i didnt treat
their album like any other mp3 album one gathers randomly,
but rather made a little event out of it you know, i might
just do that actually

Autechre live = The music. I'm not going to see a nice
pretty light show on a screen behind Booth and Brown. I'm
going so I can stand there listening to some immense music
really fucking loud.

Same kinda applies to Kraftwerk, if they got rid of those
screens then it really would be about the music totally.

Anyways, can't wait til Birmingham 3/3/08.

all an AE concert requires on your part is ears.

well i dont think you could do any dance moves in a
wheelchair so u probably need legs to. once they go turbo to
(like the finale of their 2005-2007 show, best fucking
thing ive ever heard) your fucked, you need appendages we
havent evolved yet as humans to dance to it. probably need
the ability to fly, too

everyone was just standing in place with their arms folded.

"Do people dance at autechre shows? The one I went to

"

2005 tour we were going mental in the front
the bass pounded me into a pulp
when lcc remix hit, whew ... full on flat out madness!

then we did it all over again the next in chicago.

hopefully paxahau or someone will scoop them in for another
detroit show this year.

neat,

there is a few days gap before the chicago show.

detroit

i hope so, too. back to back shows are the tops

hell, we almost followed them to minni but damn it's a hell

well of course you wont assume that it takes such amount of
focus and contemplation for you to enjoy their live music,
that one cannot jump aroung like fekkin keith flint from
prodigy, will you ?

you wont because you thought that playing live is all about
what. pressing buttons ? fair enough. lets just say, its not
just pressing buttons, you play live set even with ae music
and well see if youre entertaining anyone.

may not do toronto now,

my one friend doesn't have a passport yet which is now
required; not sure if he'll have the cash/time to acquire
it.

chicago is the other resort. i'd still much rather visit
