I heard Tarnation was really good... maybe it's US reviews you read, i wouldn't trust them, they tend to hate films like this.

you will love/hate "i heart huckabees."
how about "bruce haack: king of techno," a short documentary about the legendary pioneer of electronic instruments employed largely for music for kids. super low budget and unpleasantly distorted soundtrack, but if you even know who bruce haack is i'm sure you'll want to see it. bonus feature: the incredibly stoned commentary by dj you dj me...

Palindromes - 4/5
i wrote a little review:
Todd Solondz continues his own brand of provocative film making with "Palindromes," an Alice in Wonderland like piece about a 13 year old girl who would like nothing more than to have a baby of her own. "Palindromes," like Solondz other films, explores the morally charged topics of teen sex, teen pregnancy, pedophilia and abortion and does so in a way that doesn't necessarily take a stand on any issue but rather, asks the audience to question their own prejudices and paradigms. In a truely unique casting move, Solondz casts the roll of the main character, a 13 year old girl named 'Aviva' with more than a half dozen different actors. The actors themselves range in age from about 8 years old to over 40 years old and are hispanic, black and white in ethnicity. This results in a visual metaphor showing the changes the character experiences throughout her journey. "Palindromes" is another challenging and unique film that Solondz's fans will enjoy but, due to the subject matter, squeamish audiences should probably avoid.

Untold Stories of World War 2- 5/5
A great story about half a dozen guys taking down a heavy water facility by themselves, hard to believe that kind of thing can be pulled off in real life. Also a story on Kamikazes and an interview with some Kamikazes that must have really sucked at their job.

*I "heart" Huckabees*: 5/5 ----> purely fantastic. ReaL, and very much about the world in which we live in today, but in an abstract way. probably one of my fave movie of the year.
*11:14*: 4/5 -----> great story about accidents that happen all at the same time, and that are all connected somehow... The whole movie happens in the same 25 minutes or so... It keeps going and comming back so you would know what happened here and there.... Great great thriller...
*LD50*: 3,5/5 -----> Nice Thriller, quite a good story. Not amazing though.

National Treasure.
All Movie Guide says: National Treasure is one silly movie. From the plot to the casting to its complete The Da Vinci Code meets Indiana Jones nature, the flick places Nic Cage in one ludicrous scenario after another and does it in such a light-hearted tone that you can't help but get sucked in by this slick and schlocky Hollywood product. Now, the movie really isn't all that good — its humor falls flat, the chemistry of the lead actors is dreadful, and it's not all that suspenseful, but it is about an invisible treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence! Just that fact alone makes it worth at least one curious viewing. Director Jon Turteltaub has a long history with Disney films and he makes his explosive blockbuster jump with this Jerry Bruckheimer production, which was big in theaters thanks to its family-friendly nature. Kids might be amused by the flick, though it's hard to say if parents will really get a kick out of it or not. Take notice of the obnoxious sidekick Justin Bartha's freaky blue eyes, which end up being the biggest mystery in the whole tedious picture. — Jeremy Wheeler
But hell, maybe it was the company I was with, I don't know... I liked it 3.5 out of 5. Good fun even if silly.
