I'll watch it again and keep that in mind, yeah its a period
of history I find really fascinating so its a film right up
my street

Yeah I agree about it being a fascinating period. I'd love a
similar film about the initial occupation of Jerusalem.

The siege in Kingdom of Heaven is possibly the best action
Scott's done, probably one of the last large scale practical
battle recreations we'll ever see in a movie too.

yeah its depressing in a way because I think we wont see
films like this being made in the foreseeable future,
everything looks like a kids cartoon with the F word in now
when I see trailers

Nope although I've seen it and love it - have showed that
opening scene to a few people! :D

It's the throwaway yankee comedy with Ed Helms about the
game of tag that's been played for thirty years - had some
good darkish humour in it, obviously gets a bit sentimental
at the end being American and all that

Waaaaay back in the day I went to a Clive Barker book
signing (might have been when "Cabal" came out), and I asked
him what the heck was up with that film (Rawhead Rex). The
original story is so good. I tried to re-watch it fairly
recently but bailed early on. One of the Books of Blood
stories I wish they'd do is the one where the two towns or
villages, whatever, get together and fight as these giants,
all the people hanging on to each other... I think that's
how it goes.

Atwood has a much better Barker anecdote, if she ever comes
back.

Incredibles 2 - 3.8/5 (Nice film)

Ant Man and Wasp - 2.5/5 (things happened, I guess)

Get Out - 4.5/5 (Good)

Better off Dead - 3.5/5 (far weirder than I remember it back
in the 80s)

Oh yes, "In the hills, the cities", surely one of the best
things he's ever written. I saw a comics adaptation of it
once that wasn't bad, but still nowhere near as good as the
story. It's so visual. His language is transparent. I can't
imagine how badly they'd fuck it up in a movie with CGI and
making the POV character heterosexual and so.

Ghost in the Shell (2017)

4/10, ScarJo is a shitty actress and they butchered the
plot, turning it into The Winter Soldier. Also looked like
they were angling for a franchise with that ending. 4 points
for nice production design and an evening's mild popcorn
amusement.

yea skip it if you're that big a fan... man they dumbed down
the plot.

a bright point was the casting of other actors. Pilou Asbæk
as Batou was perfect.

I’m changing my note for the Greasy Strangler from a 4 to

Yeah that's the one. It fits thematically which is
interesting and he uses the tiny size to good advantage in
some shots. It's a very 'minimal' movie in all aspects of
production but still manages to touch on some of his
favourite subjects, including how fucked up the US medical
industry is.
