mysterious bubbling sound being picked up by scientists on
a comet, it sounds like it's being modulated through filters
and a pitch shifter

yes, why does it change pitch like that?
have they tweaked it?
or...is it genuinely telling us something?
i think it does, listening closely i believe it says:
"t.a.a.a.a.k.ee a.aa b.r.e.ee.aaa.k"
however sounds oddly nice, larn! :)

I think the actually recording was well below human hearing,
about 40-50 millihertz, so they converted the frequency up

That's great!

I get excited by things like this , the signal could be a
beacon that could lead us to find a machine inside the comet
that is an alien device with the capability to teleport
objects to and from another far away alien world . Or it
could be an alien juvenile accidentally left a synth module
behind after he was playing on the comet

you may aswell believe in god.

think of it this way:

either there are aliens or there arent. either way its a
scary scenario.

"it sounds like it's being modulated through filters
and a pitch shifter"
it sounds to me almost exactly like a bandlimited impulse
with the number of harmonics being slowly changed, with some
jitter on the freq/rate/ ,so like a granular thing mayb

interesting going backwards and wondering about what
'causes' it from listening to the sound

all earlthly things vibrate at a infrasonic frequencies with
repeating/slightly varying patterns. changing the frequency
and who knows what else to make a dead object sing could be
applied to everything.

would the physics of space mute those natural resonance over
time? or because the comet is moving, something inside is
rattling?

all those space things are usually like something from a
different band of vibration that isn't audible pitched up or
down so we can hear it . . not that that makes any
difference

Do Cats likes Cymatics?

I remember the Cassini spacecraft picking up radio waves
around Saturn, but it was more of a hum.

link above does not work for me. says lazy url.

I wonder if the sound has been effected? NASA always effect
pictures of Mars, to make it look red. using a filter. when
really Mars is grey/brown

So maybe this sound has gone through some filters too?
,maybe the alien inside is using some type of VST?

They picked up fluctuations in the magnetic field around the
comet, translated the pattern to audio waves and then
pitched it up to audible range. You could do it to anyhing
really, but it's cool that it's gettin people interested
in/talking about space and technology. Like a big magnetic,
rocky Neil deGrasse Tipsy

Oh, it's magnetic field fluctuations? It sounds like the
bubbles you get when an icecube melts in water.
