"May 9th 2005
Twin Peaks Season 2 DVD Delayed to Spring 2006
Today I have been given official word from Paramount that
they will be pushing back the DVD release of Twin Peaks
Season 2 on DVD to Spring 2006. The reason for the delay is
to work with David Lynch to oversee the transfer of new
masters. While it is another delay in such a long wait, at
least it will be done right, which is by far the most
important thing."

how much will it be?

I've been wanting to buy the complete 9 seasons of the
X-Files on DVD but it's close to a thousand pounds -_- I
can't afford half of that! I'll buy Twin peaks season 2 as a
compromise.

You're wrong, its genius.

Weasel wtf?? The x-files seasons are like 26.99 each from
play.com, or am I missing something??

No news about how much TPS2 will be but the rumours are that
it will be split in two parts; its a LOT longer than the
first season so I expect it will cost a lot more.

i have just bought an Akira kurosawa box including

Seven Samurai
Yojimbo
The Hidden Fortress

and i heard that the Seven Samurai movie should be one of
the best movies ever made.and yojimbo and the other movie
should be really great.

But i have learned from the past that to high expetations
will leave you mostly dissipointed. And i have also heard
that Akira Kurosawa films can be boring

What do you say about that ?

to have David Lynch film the grandmother as your favourite
movie is kind of weird or unusual i think

why

offline axion from planet rock (Sweden) on 2005-06-11 16:20 [#01629702]

i just think it is not very common/usual that people have
that film as one as there favourite movies.weird story

A half-hour experimental film from early in director David
Lynch's career, The Grandmother anticipates his later
Eraserhead in its depiction of family life as a surrealistic
nightmare. The film begins with the appearance of the mother
and father, who sprout from the ground-like strange plants
and speak only in dog-like animal sounds. They are soon
joined by another sprout, a pale, silent young boy dressed
in a tuxedo. The scene moves to the family home, where the
gruff, boorish parents intimidate and abuse the boy, cruelly
punishing him for his chronic bed-wetting. Eventually, the
boy escapes to an upstairs room where he dumps dirt on a bed
and plants a large seed. This seed grows into a monstrous
plant, which gives birth to an older woman, the grandmother.
She and the boy form a loving bond, protecting him from the
harshness of his parents. However, when the grandmother
falls ill, the boy's world threatens to collapse. Lynch
mingles live-action footage with animated interludes and
replaces traditional dialogue with an unsettling soundtrack.
The film is less concerned with narrative than with using
its horrific and sometimes beautiful imagery to evoke the
intense emotions of a tormented child. — Judd Blaise

well, i agree that seven samurai and yojimbo are fantastic
films. definitely up high on the list of the best ever
made. hidden fortress is good and apparently influential,
but i didn't care for it as much as his other films. it is
a good movie, though.

"And i have also heard that Akira Kurosawa films can be
boring
What do you say about that ? "

oh, i haven't found any of his films to be at all boring
except for "dreams" which was one of his later films. that
was a patience-testing film and i probably should have
watched it when i was more awake.

kurosawa is absolutely one of the best directors who ever
lived anywhere in the world. his films are incredible.
check out Ran, Throne of Blood, High & Low and Sanjuro as
well.

La Grande bouffe
but yeah, hard to pick an overall favorite... could change
my mind the next day. If you like obscure movies which are
not just totally senseless, check this one out.

imdb plot outline:
A group of men hire some prostitutes and go to a villa in
the countryside. There, they engage in group sex and resolve
to eat themselves to death.
