yep, i like that name as well! : )

uviol:
"I don't think it's even possible to predict what new
Autechre releases will sound like anymore. I love them.
They're not following any formulas or riding any
trends."

> ...really?
i think it's really easy to get the impression all Autechre
albums (well, from their "later" period at least) sound the
same if you're not a *fan*. any way they definitely have
their own unique "style", you instantly recognize it. (well,
there are a few artists like it, like Arovane, but they're
Autechre-inspired aren't they...)

i agree with the way that they aren't riding any trends, but
as for the formulas... they seem to have their own
formula(s), you can't say they reinvent themselves in every
album - they evolve in their own style.

don't get me wrong, i like Autechre and i do not mean it in
a "oh, Autechre, they always do the same shit" way,
it's their style and i like it - but i didn't get Draft 7.30
because from the sound samples i heard, it really sounded
too similar to the Autechre i already have, which i only
listen to very rarely.

i think i'll listen to sound samples but won't be getting
the album.

seeing as they are doing a tour along with the new release,
it probably means the music is a bit more dancy.

it's not the best - but who are we to govern the nature of
Autechre's artistic growth!?

at first i thought it said "UnTITLED"....then when i
realized what it really was, i wondered if they just called
it that as a joke to see how many record stores and
companies would spell it wrong. if that's the case, then i
am disappointed.

but to tilt, means to slant. to be UNtilted, basically means
"straight".

duly note that "untilt" is technically not a word. but of
course, this wouldn't be the first time Ae made up words.

Ah! sorry man, I didn't see this reply.

You make a logical point. I suppose that since I adore
Autechre so much, I try to pay very close attention to the
intricacies and details that differentiate each album.
Like, on the surface Draft and Confield sound pretty
similar, but now they seem completely different to me.. As
you accurately pointed out, though, it's definitely an
evolution. The albums are not so different that there is an
obvious 'return to form' or a shift in 'styles'. There is
alot that the recent material has in common.. and I suspect
the new album will be a continuation of this. The
subtleties of this evolution are what I'm looking forward
to, not so much a completely different sound.

i shall reserve judgement on said album title (or 'tilte' as
it were) until after i hear the noises that said album title
are nomenclating.

its also been annouced they're touring the world... thats
bigger news to me than a new album as i still got tons of
back catalog Ae to check out anyway.... its all toasty

Ae is the last of my fave artists to see live. (err.. except
for BoC)

you managed to get untilted in the playlist of a

Indulge me tolstoyed, is the soundboard recording that is
being spread now different in length than the one you
received? Or is it just donwgrade bitrate-wise?

And I agree, it is fantastic! I say a rerelease of Untilted
with a live performance bonus disc is warranted ;)
