i was making a reference to ugly, closed-minded nerds.

it's a good thing they have absolutely nothing to do with
each other, then.

also note that tolstoyed isn't a 'victim' of whatever 'cool
factor' you guys think this album has and are desperately
afraid of.

well, they both got high marks on pitchfork didn't they :)
which ofcourse doesn't mean anything.
i haven't heard/read about this album anywhere except
xltronic and that review on pitchfork. and personally i
wouldn't care if they're bigger than u2..it's still the kind
of music i like :-)

I wonder if anyone here scours the music media trying
to decide whether the stuff they like is "cool" or not, so
they can alter their opinions accordingly. I kind of doubt
it.

Also, i haven't heard this record.

i know that most of the people on xltronic despise indie
music in general, despite it being the most varied selection
of music available.

i would agree with you entirely....im not really suggesting
its like that at all.... its just when these bands get
elevated in a way.
my thoughts on this have much more todo with what i hear
people saying in real life then any of the media
attention that they have gotten.

i heard about the arcade fire through a friend who didn't
like half of the album. i loved it all on first listen, and
then each and every succeeding listen, and didn't even know
about the 'hype train' until i popped onto the internet for
a looksee.

give me a break
trust me, give it 6 months, the hype will be over and you,
even you, wont care any longer.
they will fade from hip cafe conversations and
stereo systems and they will have to do things like
fake thier own death to get thier silly listeners talking
about
them again.

yeah, and i stand by that. of course im assuming you are
like everyone else i know of whos really into the arcade
fire right now, but thats how it works.

i still dont want you to think that you need to defend
yourself to my by trying to convince me that you came
accross them rather innocently rather then through any sort
of hype over them.

btw to the link the unicorns page was relevant at the time
because they had a message saying something like "the
unicorns are dead, R.I.P."
, it has since changed

pop music works in mysterious ways... no one needs to
justify why they like one thing and dislike another... i
certainly wouldn't look down on anyone for liking this album
at all... i'd look down on you if you were clearly a
pathetic fashionista though...

... fortunately for me, they played brantford ontario at the
ford plant. hehe tim has some juicy boot-legs completely
unavailable to anyone, rendering them completely useless.

There is no excuse for their brand of pathetic,
overly-emotional faggotry.
Plus the singer is going bald but still feels the need to
have some sort of stupid myspace combover. Sigur Ros are
kinda gay, but at least they tone down the cheese by the
virtue you can't understand what he's actually singing
about, and they have at least some originality. This music
sounds like it was made by a bunch of annoying "sensitive"
far-too-enthusiastic rich-kid American exchange students who
like to talk about their feelings and how much they hate
George W. Bush (for the millionth time).

Actually, they are American and moved to Canaduh. I agree
they are probably all those things, but I still like there
music. There is just WAY more whiny college liberal birth
control glasses wearing nerdy groups that suck major donkey
dick that should get picked on way more than arcade fire.
And frankly, sigur ros' vocals are heeps more annoying.
Atleast arcades vocals are panned way in the back. Instead
of that whale mating voice in Sigur Ros. Sigor Ros. That
sounds like boxed white wine.

on a side note, the other day i was listening to some 80s
songs (an xltronic selection ofr 80s party music) and I
noticed one that sounded exactly like arcade fire, i forgot
which band but i'll find it and report later.

As the snow tapped effortlessly in a very forced manner
against his window, in the usual fashion, ProngBeetle threw
haphazardly his Beta-Bear in a perfectly calculated arc
across his sleeping quarters, whilst raising a wry eyebrow,
black brow hair arching to meet peppered receeding mane
crest, his pen instincticvly was taken up and she began to
jot down furiously very calmly a lot of words rapidly very
slowly. 10 minutes passed in the familiar way and lo, Lotty
had prepared 35,000 words, (s)he'd intended to critique,
auto-erotically, the Arcade Fire album, but had only so far
managed to mange managing to write about how he'd picked up
a writing pen, in his hands, and how she'd began the whole
charade of writing. Still the snow, white black sparked
wetly against the crystaline hard wetness of his opaque
window, and she wondered to himself if anything would ever
be worth not writing down again.

on second listen it's better than i thought. my fault for
going into the album expecting it to be as insanely catchy
as funeral. intervention is still the best song, though.
