It's a grower, that's for sure.

at first i wrote them off but I can pop in funeral on a
sunny afternoon (preferably around sunset with the smell of
barbeques in the air) and it will work. some songs like
neighbourhood bring back memories of the old neighbourhood
braais (bbqs) we use to have with all us kids running around
playing by the river and in the bushes and shit. i heard
some songs from the one before funeral and they were alright
too.

it is a grower, it is not as instant as funeral, it is
probably not as good as funeral, but it is a very good
album.

i don't know what the big deal was. he went to a Daedalus
show for godsake. i definitely wouldn't pass that up for a
chance to see arcade fire, who are touring their ass off
almost every year after their albums are released. most of
you lucky bitches in the EU have no idea how good you have
it.

Mile-End is an alright place. i just wish more musicians
like Tim Hecker would start cropping up there, but alas it's
being taken over by pop rock retards whose music has hardly
anything to it.

and those pop rock retards would be... ?

Nobody obligates you to go to la Sala Rossa each day ;)

I feel there's just not many interesting things happening in
pop music. I've found no substance to the hype behind
groups like wolf parade, sunset rubdown, unicorns et al.
See the thing about sala or casa is they have such a variety
of shows, but all the 'cool' people always show up for the
pop rock. i don't look like a hipster, i'm not bitter, and
i'm not part of a scene, it just seems people take things
way too seriously around that area of montreal sometimes.

Anyway the english scene is what, like 25% of the entire
Montreal scene? There's so many other stuff.

I'd love it if you could tell me about some interesting
things you know of. I'm always interested in what's out
there. Are you referencing the musique actuelle productions
that are going on?

I mean let's not forget that about 90% of the entire
artistic industry in Montreal is in french. In fact living
there I would say that the Mile End simply "absorbed" all
the energy that was happening in the late 90's in Quebec,
with a renaissance of artistic-based non-commercial indie
rock french bands.

So you want names?

Jean Leloup / Jean Leclair
Malajube
Les Trois Accords
Les Cowboys Fringants
Les Colocs
Yann Perreau
Vincent Vallières
Stefie Shock
DJ Champion
Pierre Lapointe
Daniel Boucher
Dumas
Marc Déry
Daniel Bélanger
etc...
