Excellent, I'm in. Gotta sort out some music now, though.
Most of my older stuff's crap and I'm a bit cautious with
label stuff to be spreading too much material from my next
album. I think it's composition time.

COUNT ME IN!

Haven't been making music for ages, but only yesterday I was
going through my exhaustive database of tracks I've done
over the past few years and there's definitely a few good
tunes in there.

melack, send me a mail the the address given
HERE if you want in!

Sanguine, you may send me any format you like but please
note individual space will be limited to somewhere around
40-20 MB. No limit on track length or number of tracks as
long as you stick within the max total :)

Drunken Mastah, they are on the list ! They just havn't sent
me a reply yet so I can't feature their music without their
consent.

pOgO, thanks, I'll have to check out he stuff if she ever
shares it online.

Monoid! You CAN'T be too lazy for this, you don't have to
even get up off your ass or leave your house. I already have
'gradient_shape', 'Shock_and_awe', and something called
'random' by you, are you sure you don't want these tracks on
The Disk?

THE DISK UPDATE # 1

1 week later and nearly 100 artists are confirmed!

These artists will recieve a second email which will be sent
out either later today or early tomorrow morning (GMT).
This email will contain more information and additional
instructions.

Just to clear up some of the more popular questions:

1. There is no limit on track length, style, format etc
2. I can only use music if YOU made it.
3. Depending on how many artists join in, you will have, on
average, 40-80 MB to play with.
4. If you have not been sent an email or are not on the list
linked to HERE then you can still send me a mail
if you make da music.

CHECK HERE for more info and updates in the 2004
link in the bottom frame.

Thanks for all the support! Watch this space --> [ ]

I have posted only one track on xltronic.com, and it was not
its best mix, therefore I would like to send you few more
tracks (five?) mixed in higher quality. There is serious
problem - I am running on a 56k modem. 5 tracks + some
graphics might be hard to send it to you via mail (50MB). I
do not have capable site place (only 9MB).
I have visited The Disk info site: deadline 2004-09-01 looks
nice to me - I should come in time.

Send me an email Sempoo, I will be able to provide hosting
for your 50MB.

If anyone else has a similar problem then send me a mail and
we can sort it out.

question: will I be able to play the disk and view all the
information-pages on a regular dvd-player, or will I have to
use a computer to be able to see the info-pages for each
artist?

I hope it, at least, will be possible to play just the music
on a regular dvd-player...

I am still researching this. At the moment and with my
current level of knowledge I think that you are only going
to be able to fully appreciate The Disk on a PC DVD player.
I am not sure if a standalone DVD player will ignore the
html and just play the tracks. I guess this will be down to
how advanced a model you are using.

There may be a way to split the DVD into differently
formatted sections eg a data section for the PC and then the
media section, which may be played by both PC and Regular
DVD.

Also another option is for me to have all the info pages
saved as images. This will mean I can use them as regular
DVD backgrounds and hover links to the tracks on them (like
a DVD menu). This option will use up a lot for space so
we’ll have to see..

I'll get back to you when I've done some experiments. If
anyone else can provide any info or tips I'd appreciate it.

As this most likely will be distributed on a
person-to-person basis, it is highly unlikely that any
organisation will bother with checking into the sample
usage.. also, It can halfway be considered a mixtape, and I
don't think mixtape-djs have to pay for each song they
use...

cheers Jester!

scup_bucket, sorry it have corrected it now on the page and
in the database.

clint :hmm ,tough one, I am not a big fan of rules myself so
I will leave this as s personal choice for you to make. If
there is any trouble then "I never heard of you, you never
heard of me, xltronic what, the disk?, no never heard of it"
;)

oddioblender, cheers i'll download that track now. There may
be some videos on included however the music must come
first. If there is room then I will contact any video makers
(looks at krelian) and see what is worhty of being
included.

You may of course use your own 45-50 MB however you want to,
if you want to include a video you made or any
drawings/artwork then that is fine. Just include it on your
ifo page.

EVERYONE ELSE... This info page can be whatever you want it
to be, you can include as many or as little info about
yourself and your music as you wish. you may use it to link
to your sites. Some of you are actually sending me MINI
WEBSITES to go on the disk along with their music. Be
creative!

i think for the sake not getting jazembo in trouble, since
he is putting all of this together, i would leave out any
music with audible samples.

people can get rather pissy about their music.

Bloody copyright laws. Ok I will submit one in which the
samples are completly monged beyond recognition. I might do
that to the other one also. In fact I might email the record
company that I took my main one from... its a tiny little
indie they might be cool about it.
