Some good news from Iraq

- revenge
- saddam was a bad guy
- enforce the multiple UN resolutions
- land for military base not in saudi arabia
- wmd
- oil
- finish up daddy's work
- help people of iraq
- jobs for haliburton

probably all of those reasons to varying degrees, and a lot
we don't and will never know

I agree with the religion part, it only causes war and is
only there if you cannot find a meaning for life youself,
and believe in your own life. But I thought this was an Iraq
thread, not a religious one mate.

- possible al qaeda link

namcat,
"Bush = murderer

what USA has done for money = genocide"

Personally, this war is hurting my pocket book. Please do
tell just how much money you think we are benefiting from
this. Cause last time I checked, it's really not helping
the economy.

Bush = Murderer??? Maybe, Maybe not. I don't have 1st hand
experience to really draw a definite opinion so easily. How
I feel about Bush is this. At least he has the "balls" to
go after something. Far too many leaders sit on hot topics
until they cool down. Many do not want to risk actually
DOING SOMETHING about a situation; they would rather not
take a chance at hurting their career or reputation.

--------------

altai,
"you are not rulers of the world, you do not have the
right
answer to everything, everywhere doesnt want a McDonalds,
that why you get so much shit. And you can eat it. "

I agree with Nora. Absolute stereotype. You may see my
country as trying to be rulers/policia of the world, but
comon. At least we are doing something. I don't see many
other countries going OUT OF THEIR way to help some people
in a situation. This is another debate topic entirely so I
will leave that as that, and not continue down that trail.

haha, the balls to go after something.. Bush said after 911
that he is going to fight against terrorism. Time passed, he
couldnt really get anything proper to show people that he
succeeded in that. Then he focused to Iraq, started the war
because of weapons of massdestruction. In the end nothing
was found.

The good thing is that Saddam was defeated, but the
rebuilding of the country plan hasnt really worked.

I think it is the same debate myself. many other countries
are helping you, the UK etc..., but no, USA you is just, US
us us, we we we. . Many other countries help other
countries, but ultimatly it is up to the citizens of the
country itself to change their own regime, when the Kurds
tried to overthrow saddam, america didnt do shit, and they
were asked.

But no, you beieve that you are helping, but you are just
causing all this terrorism and killing because the rest of
the word, especially these 3rd world countries see you as
interfeering and invaders, because you go in there guns
blazing and expect good to come of it. its not lawful.

But its just the way it is, me, you cant do shit, just sit
back and watch the movie.

It's funny you face assumptions with assumptions. The thing
is that we can't know anything for sure.

You may see my
country as trying to be rulers/policia of the world, but
comon. At least we are doing something

This is naive. It is common knowledge that every political
change in the history of mankind had a moral excuse and a
cause based on power struggle. There are many places in the
world were people are starving like russia or the darkest
dephs of the USA, but you do nothing about that. "Comon"
don't buy that bullshit.

bush's cowboy attitude is the main problem. not every
decision he's made is totally bad, but his smug attitude is
creating a lot of problems for us, and totally destroying
america's image to the rest of the world.

PhystPhukt,
"Yeah, and we accomplished all this while managing to
'quiet'
the people who DOTN want the US there by torturing them in
Iraqi prisons with electricity and whatnot. "

I do take heartful disgust at this. I am not trying in any
way to justify those acts, but here goes:

1. Marines are humans. Albiet trained to lose some of their
conscious thinking.

2. Marines are fighting a war. Friends, soldiers, comrads,
die.

3. Human aspect of a marine takes over at times. War can do
crazy things to a man's mind.

4. Marine might try to take out aggressions over lost
soldiers on the captured iraqis.

5. Some marines may absolutely not want to be there. Feel
they are fighting a worthless war, etc. Take out some
agression on an Iraqi.

Justification, HELL NO.

Fucking, court marshall and jail those basturds.

But hey, again let me state the facts.

You and I are not fighting this war. We are taking all
speculations and resolving assumptions upon information we
receive from the media. Remember this.

All cheap shots, attacks, assumptions, are mostly that. I
try to realize that I do not walk in their shoes. I do not
know how they have lived. I sit in my house with my
technology, freedom, comfort, etc. I do not walk around in
fear of me or my family being executed for not pledging to a
tyrant.

I honestly don't understand how some of you can take a topic
that you are so against, or for, and continue to push weight
behind your assumptions and uneducated/experienced opinions.
You cannot lump everything into two sums.

As for the 1st post that created this mess, I really hope
those figures are true so I can feel better about what is
going on, and what soldiers have fallen for. As many of you
continue to state that my country is in this for the money,
or the oil....please do speak up about what oil we got out
of the 1st Desert Storm, and just how well this war is doing
for our economy.

want to marry someone of your own sex) they say shit like
"This is the greatest country ever! If you dont like it, you
can get out! No country has a much freedom as we do!!"

Yeah, cos America dances on the backs of the bruised....

I can totally agree with you on this. I understand that a
major factor is that we "get something out of the deal" for
many attempts.

I do try to allow myself to understand that we can't save
the world. We have to pick our battles. It's a chess game.
(<--Oh god, that quote is gonna hurt me in this thread).

I hope you people are not taking my debate and arguments on
a per-quote basis that I am 100% gunh0 for this war. There
are many things I am against. Alas, living in this country
is going to skew the true representation of my opinion.
Again, I have to tell myself that I am not walking in those
shoes, so my true opinions have no real experience or
background information in the very debate I am arguing. I
am only speaking from reference of thought, discussion with
others, and speaking with people from that country. (I love
outside of Dearborn, MI....the largest populated area of
people from that area, in all of the US).

Understood.

And it does get hard when 250million people are lumped
together into what is known as the United States.

We have leaders creating this image for us. After reading
about what people think about the US, it kind of makes me
realize just how important image is. (Although, good image
and bad internal interworks, can be just as evil....as we
have seen (in iraq, especially))................

I take offense and cannot do anything about it. People talk
about the US, refer to me ... and everyone in this country
for believing or doing a certain thing that the elected has
considered.

It's a tiresome, neverending debate and as long as I
restrict myself from showing or feeling hate towards an
opposing individual for their opinion, I feel that I have
won. I don't feel that expressing a right opinion, or
proving anyone wrong makes me 'win' or feel good about
myself.

I just like to take advantage of this free education;
discussing current events with people all over the world.

Ahh, technology. Without it, the world would be a much
quieter place. :)

Think about all the previous battles, wars, etc. How much
would have changed with technology. Once the media gets
ahold, and skews it. Mr. and Mrs. Bias.

It's hard, but try to keep in mind this is the first
real...."war" (I guess,) that has been this technological
driven. We are getting war updates in real time, on my cell
phone, PDA, TV, etc. It's quite an overwhelming feeling,
and I feel that is one of the largest reasons for all the
uprisings.

Back to topic...

yes, bush is indirectly a murder.

We are all indirectly murderers. Problem is that some of us
are capable of seeing the consequences of out actions while
some of us aren't. Lets say I go to a store, buy some cheap
shoes and come back. I don't think that someone was
exploated just so that I can have nice clothe. There is
also a limit to which our actions can influence the outher
world. I can't kill a Martian just by taking a glass of
water here on Earth. At the present stage America believes
in its power. What determines who and how someone should be
exploated. America is not investing in Iraq without any
reason.
