[XLTVIBES#08] Teapots thingy

i think the idea is to take a well known song and put
totally different melodies and stuff with it. i think that'd
make the best tracks

i want well known tracks, not your grandmother, not your
dog, or cat...

Teapot: Is it alright if I do an acapella medley? I've got
loads of acapellas to use but I can't decide what one so I
want to mash them all up. Would that be acceptable? You'd
still be able to decipher the words but there's be about 20
different songs in there.

BAM!

teapot can you clarify?

does this mean the track can consist of vocal samples only?
(warped and fucked with of course)........ or it must only
feature vocal samples as part of it?

all.
But if the deadline is the end of Feb then I'll just do it

would have liked to be on this one. 8 is my fav. number.

would these songs be sounding something like the "rae"
accapella on the AEmix?? that one rocked.

i'm not about to start on a track, but i can suggest at few
sources:

suzanne vega's "tom's diner" from "solitude standing" the
original remix almost triggered a lawsuit, but vega was into
it and they released a single instead and then a mini album
with several unsolicited remixes. DNA was the culprit of
the original unsanctioned mix (not the same DNA as arto
lindsay's NY no wave 80's band). anyway the orig release is
acapella all the way.

ani difranco has numerous spoken word tracks

bob dylan has pretty long spoken word track at the end of
the bootleg disc one called "Last Thoughts on Woody
Guthrie"

there is so little instrumentation on the catpower songs
from "the covers record" that it would probably be not too
difficult to strip the vocals from the mix. maybe that's
against the rules though, will reread first post now...
