THE LAST APHEX TWIN RELEASE:(

Aphex Twin is only the property of Warp until the contract
has been finished. So with this being the last release then
he once again owns the name proper. I think the thing on the
back means that no-one else can release under the name Aphex
as well.

He he, my local students union shop does 24 cans & a bottle
of gypo vodka for £20. Good cheap way to get off your face
(and induce a coronary I should imagine).

It's funny getting wired from lots of strong coffee in work
though.
Most red bull I've drunk in one night was when I had 5 jugs
of vodka & red bull, works out at 10 cans. Too much RB is
really bad for you though. Look at the back and it contains
200% your RDA (which is recommended daily allowance-
not recommended daily amount as some people think...) of one
of the B vitamins, B12 I think...

10 cans = I was at least (I'd of eaten other food etc, with
it in)20 times over my RDA. You can get poisoning from too
much of vitamins as well as "bad" stuff.

Unless he licenced the name permantley- it is possible to,
like rights to a track. Usually you license it from 3 years
onwards, but some people (fools!) sign tracks to a label
forever (I can't remember the actual word used to describe
infinity that is used in most contracts :/)

"perpetuity"? Is that the one I'm thinking of?

It'd be fun to see what his contract is.

Bugger, I drink 1 litre bottles of 'Red Rooster' (fake ass
redbull) all the time. :/ It does make my stomach burn if I
drink a lot like, I just thought it was because it's fizzy
and i'm used to water during the week. I only drink fizzy
stuff on the weekends. Ugh.

warp do not own the name 'aphex twin' he can still release
stuff under that name.

the only reason that all his warp stuff is under the name
aphex twin is becuase thats the name he signed to them with.
if he wanted to release afx stuff through warp he would have
had to sign another contract with them for the name afx.

am i making sence?

warp don't own the name. thats stupid. he has/had a contract
with them for x amount of albums under that name. after the
contract expires/expired he can use the name on any label he
likes. thats is the crack. thats it...

I would imagine that since Richard released on R&S before
Warp as Aphex Twin that Warp only own the rights to use his
name for the duration of his contract with them.

Only if the label "suggests" a stage name to an artist (as
happens more often with manufactured bands) do they keep the
rights to it.

Unless Richard signed a really stupid agreement with Warp I
think the following applies (not that he is leaving Warp
just yet, it is all just spin for the nosy journos ;) ):

"The company will contract to use the artist's name,
likeness, biographical material, etc in order to help sell
the recording. They may also contract for merchandising
rights, and will specify the artist's share of those
revenues."

I've received official word from a secret dude that there
will be one more Aphex Twin release. But, It's just going to
be the couple remixes that didn't make it on
26remixes... Rumor has it that 'Aphex Airlines will
be on the album.

Then that's it. He's going to be a goat farmer in
Malaysiatown. Apparently, he only had just so much techno in
him... Too bad really, that fella had some good beats.

My 2 cents:

He will be making music for many more years. He can't help
himself. Even with all his "retirement" talk (which pops up
every few years btw), he has said that in all honesty he
plans to make music for the rest of his life. It's one of
the only things that really interests him.

All this quitting WARP, his retirement, etc. was all
marketing ploys to sell the albums and wind up the
trainspotters. Even the Men Records thing was all talk -
expect more Aphex on WARP.

But cmon guys, reality touch here. Don't expect guys like
Richard, or Autechre or []pusher to continue creating music
until their 65. This ain't the Rolling Stones. Someday
they will stop, it's a reality. It could be at 40, 30, 25
years old. Who knows what _HE_ really thinks, what he
wants?

the last aphex twin album was rather awful, actually...
but that afx 12" was decent.
well, the last album wasn't COMPLETELY awful...
there were enough good tracks to make a nice 12", but the
rest of it was utter shit.

As long as he enjoys making music, I'm sure he will release
it. If he doesn't then that's up to him. If he enjoys it,
and can make money from it then he's lucky enough to have a
job he enjoys. He will want the money so he will release,
unless mcdonalds have a vacancy.

"I think men will grow from now on" hahaha me and my dirty
mind!
