whats the point of comparing him to squarepusher anyway?
they're extremely different artists, and both good in their
own way.

i like supermodified quite alot, although i haven't heard
the latest one in its entirety. but i will say that he was
dissappointing live...he just dj'd off finalscratch, and
played a few too many tunes that weren't his own.

Amon Tobin is not incredibly superior to Squarepusher...
Pirahna Breaks was a pretty good EP

Go check out a band called Xploding Plastic. You'll be
surprised...

But he's still a great artist, I would support him on the
site

pretty amazing.

amon tobin doesnt use synthesizers or drum machines. he
doesnt own any. every song is made vibert style from
samples. tom samples his own playing on some tracks. you do
the math

im surprised at the number of people who were unfamilliar
with him. id classify him into B level idm star, easy..

Noone beats Amon Tobin when it comes to soundmontage. He is
is certainly the leader in the field of one.

this in no way means he's better than, say, Tom J...(their
approach is totally different, so why compare?)
Amon has always been in my top five.

I SUPPORT the idea, absolutely.

Thanks to whoever started this topic! You're so right, man,
Amon Tobin is wicked as a witch! There still doesn't seem to
be any decent info resources on him. The Ninja Tune site is
a royal pain in the ass.

offline Anus_Presley on 2003-07-28 16:24 [#00797474]

how can you NOT have him on Xltronic. its like a football
website leaving a prremierr division football team off.

offline Spacecadet on 2003-07-28 16:43 [#00797487]

electronic music

i think ninja tune is a label that should be covered, not
just amon tobin, i mean, pest, coldcut, hextatic, luke
vibert are all wicked and there's many other artists
besides, ooh i forgot mr scruff too

Amon is good for sure but better than Squarepusher -
seriously? God damm I mean Squarepusher invented a genre.
Lol.

is better.

AMON TOBIN OWNS!!!

i saw the man live at a small (400 capacity) club here in
London, ON and his set was completely damaging! my god, does
amon rawk! in complete contrast to his music, however, he's
a pretty mellow, soft-spoken fellow, it turns out.

and i do agree with Ophecks - the consistency of the quality
of music on Amon Tobin's releases far outweighs
Squarepusher's output. there has yet to be a stinker from
Mr. Tobin!

i agree! xltronic definitely ought to cover him (speaking of
which, when are we going to see the autechre & aphex twin
sites updated and back online?)
