Phobia, is Amon Tobin going to be covered on Xltronic?

I think this guy kick's Squarepusher's ass. Tom J WISHES he
was as talented as Amon Tobin.

I think you are over rating amon tobin, or at least you are
under rating tom

Well, I love Squarepusher, Tom is a genious... but Amon is
even better. He isn't as flashy or crazy, but the guy has a
much better understanding of jazz, and his production is the
best I've ever heard. Every album he's ever done is
flawless! Plus his music is damn sexy!

ophecks: he'll be added if you manage to find 10 other
members who supports this idea.

seems to be missing something...

AMON TOBIN! He is in my top four along with Boards of
Canada, Godspeed You Black Emperor! and Gary Wilson.

As to whether he is better than squarepusher, squarepusher
only WISHES he could warm his hands over Amon's pee steam.

Come on, let's have some more Amon supporters! The guy is so
damn underrated... I'd put him above Squarepusher and and
Mu-Ziq, slightly below Aphex, Autechre and BOC, in terms of
my favorites.

He's damn slick, but not overly... I don't think he's
missing anything, except RECOGNITION! He's more
straightforward and musical, which is why he doesn't get
attention... he's not very weird...

I've been meaning to check out GodspeedYBE for a while...
soon as I get a new hard drive ( I REFUSE to delete
anything, and I only have 50MB left), I'm going to download
like a mad man.

offline Taoist Blockade from Wales on 2002-06-03 19:54 [#00248131]

I think im terms of sheer talent no one even comes close to
Amon Tobin, not Autechre, not squarepusher... no one. MAYBE
godspeedyoublackemperor! but that doesnt really count cause
thats like 10 people.

I love Amon Tobin. He is definatly one of my favorites.

He is more psycho jazz, and squarepusher is more psyho
experimental with hints of jazz.

And i also like godspeedyoublackemperor. I have the album
"raise your skinny fists like antennes to heaven" or
something close to that.

I cant say i like SQ or AT better. they are different, and
there are things i appricate each of them for.

i agree.
AT and SP aren't really that close.
just by the samples alone, AT is closer to an artist like DJ
Shadow [eh, zeus?]

Amon Tobin has more talent in his pinky finger than
99.9999999% of human beings have in their entire bodies.

I've seen barely any info on the net dedicated to this guy,
and his official site is full of Flash and fancy crap, it's
pretty bad. I think he's the most purely talented electronic
artist around, really a virtuoso, definitely deserving of
something better than that.

He deserves an amontobin.nu! ;-)

each other and started cracking up

i could almost see it coming though...when the girls dad
first mentioned the chickens

heh...i love when that happens...you come upon the source of
some obscure sample
