To this day, nothing's sounds as epic as that Contra opening
credit. Dum, dum dum dum (PrrShhhshhaaashhaaa) dum, duh
Dah! Pilotwings for SuperNES gets honorable mention.

How could I forgot to mention Turrican II? Epic soundtrack.

Intro/theme

Level 1 another fav of mine.

I didn't think much of Battle Garregga when I played it on
my Japanese Saturn, Donpachi, Strikers and Radiant Silvergun
were much more fun (both gameplay and theme music),

offline Sano on 2008-07-08 22:41 [#02220593]
Points: 2502 Status: Lurker

Also the C64 version of Turrican 2 which just as
good but different.

offline dariusgriffin from cool on 2008-07-09 06:56 [#02220640]
Points: 12393 Status: Regular

The Saturn version of Battle Garegga has an arranged
soundtrack, I think, and it's not nearly as good.

DonPachi and Strikers have some orchestral, martial music,
which I'm not very fond of.

I still like those games but I like Battle Garegga better.
It's kind of obscure, with a ridiculous ranking system, but
I think that's what gives it its charm. + the music

Flashback was pretty cool must get it for my gens!

Did anyone actually ever play Jet Set Radio/Jet Grind Radio?
I was just watching some clips and am remembering how it was
such a gobsmackingly good game. It's music is v good, most
of it done by Hideki Nagamura

Yes I have that game on my Dreamcast, it had huge slowdowns
sometimes it would almost froze, the OST was ok but I really
don't like japanese dance music.

Here are two of my favourite songs from Battle Garegga,
because I care.

Underwater Rampart

Subversive Awareness or is it submersive

I also love the Batrider soundtrack. Yay for Manabu Namiki I
guess.

It's so heavy. Metal Squad (8th level) is so
galvanizing it makes me want to dropkick my TV. But I also
like the goofy electro-jazz in some of the opening levels.

Tecnosoft's website has been saying there's a new Thunder Force
game coming, I hear that message has been up for years
though. Lame that TF3 or 4 haven't even found their way to
the VC yet.

some of the Sub Terrania tracks remind me of Front 242. and
the Task Force ones are so fucking epic.

Soul Brother was actually the track I had in mind, the whole
OST is not my thing, I hate the too processed sound and the
vocals and everything, would rather listen to Ice Cap. At
one point I was thinking in replacing the music, I did it to
THPS2 on the DC, Analord and Tuss go well with THPS2.

ANOTHER SONIC GOOD'N

Calling all gaming music nerds

Really want silent hill/sh2 music. Specifically the
underground labyrinth music from sh2. A torrent of all of it
would b good. All i can find is the intro music to sh 3 and
the like. I want the in game music.

Yo ho ho The music that plays when in the
magnificently grimy washroom in SH2 is so amazing.

And speak of the devil, Thunder Force VI is actually coming
out for PS2 (not by Tecnosoft). Cool, but also weak, because
it should be on Live/PSN or PSP rather than a dying platform
and probably stuck in Japan.

Thanks again bruv. I'm really chuffed with that. Need
seeders for SH 1 tho but that can wait.

Which room was the washroom? For me the music that sticks
out most from that game was the alternate hospital.
Seriously seriously nasty music thats so impressively dark
it has stuck with me ever since. That and the underground
abyss/labyrinthy place. I'm actually really surprised that
Silent Hill hasn't come up in this thread!!! Do you remember
the music in the room full of moths in the apartment
building? FUCK. ING. BRILLIANT.

Aha, I'm playing Homeworld and a bunch of its clones right
now, many of which have pretty sweet music. There's one
called O.R.B. (Off-World Resource Base - not an especially
catchy name) - fun game, with great ambient music (no
relation of the other ORB)
