Classic video game music (80's~90's) is sort of like film
music from 70's~90's. There was pretty solid execution with
the attempt at creating an overall strong product. Nowadays
video games are way too concerned with eye candy, as if
everyone in this world is becoming sense-deaf except for
eyeballz. (p.s. for film, John Williams alone has
contributed greatly to film epic music)

More money is being spent on film and video games, to create
less and less memorable products. But somehow they're
making fuck tons of money, so somewhere along the line...
something is good? Like, is Hollywood-level modern day shit
good for SOMETHING, because people are buying into the
bullshit hype? Are "next gen" video game systems doing
something awesome for this world, besides creating cinematic
scenes?

It's like video games are trying to become film, but film
nowadays is in a shit state- so the result is somewhat sad.

Tetris is still an amazing game despite its simplicity, and
while Super Mario Bros. 1~3 is simplistic compared to
today's standards, the music is STILL in our brains, for
those who played them back in the day.

Tight visuals, tight concepts, tight music, tight gameplay--
pretty hard shit to accomplish all at once. That being
said, I'm working on an iPhone game now with another, and it
will be amazing. Our goal is to finish the game by the 2020
Olympics, haha, so that should give us enough time to finish
our epic.

Blimey i agree with you on everything! Playing Megaman 2 on
the NES again and Megaman ZX on the DS have been my recent
videogame highlights. Also really enjoying Donkey Kong
Country on the Wii. Had this come out in the early to mid
nineties i would have had an anaphylactic shock!

Ok i nearly agree with everything. I would agree that
the film industry is churning out a lot of shit and
crippling smaller and more interesting projects but that's
mostly Hollywood isn't it? I've seen some amazing films all
throughout my life and thank god that doesn't look like it's
going to change.

Yah, I suppose in the end, good shiz will- hopefully-
remain.

Sometimes good film, etc., gets known years after release,
due to some random cult following, and that spreads the
goodness. True IDM in nature dat tingz.

I used to go to the shitema weekly to watch random Hollywood
shit mostly alone, and I gotta say- don't remember most of
that shit. Was shit. Even super ultra blockbuster shit,
was/is shit.

As for quality lasting... It says alot about the actual
POWER of *quality*. If money and other conventional
promotional means are behind something that is actually
quality, the results could be amazing. Though I think in
mainstream Hollywood (or even bigger game studios), gone are
the days where full faith is put into the creators to
release something solid. Even Killer Instinct on Xbox One-
whilst being fucking awesome and pretty solid- it was/is
still being rushed by Microsoft, because they wanted it to
be a release title. So even though it's apparent that
Double Helix can create quality, telling from KI, there was
still a trading a faith for quick cha'ching. LUUUUUCKILY,
the product is so good, that it will prolly remain for many
iterations, until it is finally released as some super
platinum ultra edition, which is really the product that
should've first been released.

Long live the power of quality.

The downfall of quality entertainment, is from people with
money to release product, thinking they know more than jack
shit about aesthetics.

Yeah i agree though luckily a lot of good directors manage
to find money one way on another based on their past success
(or/and cult following) to make the movies they want (more
or less). I'm glad Cronenberg or Lynch can still make films
with a widespread release. I like a few who are in between,
like Gilliam, for example. Felt bad for him regarding the
Don Quichote project.

Yeah i really dunno about 2001 being released today. Ifs are
pretty silly but i guess if he was unknown i doubt he'd have
found financing.
