I meant 28 actually. The screen saver one. 40 was the one
that was similar.

ok, i'm stuck on the screensaver one, i think i have the
right answer cos it asks me if i want to download a file
(screensaver) but then i don't know what to do with it, i've
opened it up and it's just a screensaver!

more about the Rosetta Stone than anyone really needs to
know.

Well, the symbols are egyptian heiroglyphs. this
should help you translate them, to be sure you got the name
right. You should end up with the name of an ancient
Egyptian mathematician.

I have his name P*****S but can't get any further. I've been
googling like a bstard

The first three symbols translate as PTO and there ain't
many ancient Egyptian mathematicians who's name starts with
Pto :)

Enter the English spelling of his name and it'll tell you to
spell it in Greek, so you just look up the Greek
translation. I'm pretty sure it was Greek anyway.

I did a search with "what I'd translated" AKA and stumbled
on it, that was just silly!

The next couple are dead easy, but then you get the
nightmares of 52 and 53, and later 57. Those were real
buggers. Good luck!

pictures you might be able to find...

51 check mate, hmmm it looks like the board is going left to
right rather than up and down does this have anything to do
with this one?

hint please?

I am looking for fools mate etc. I am really coming up with
blanks on this one!

If the board looks the wrong way round I guess its an
accident. Think about chess positions notation and where
pieces are when a game starts. And then, once again, look at
what you work out and think geek. The ease of a lot of
levels hinge on geekishness. Its as well to look at clues
from an IT/internet perspective.

bishops are at c1 and c8?

offline xceque on 2005-06-08 12:32 [#01626783]

yep that's right. So looking at that notation, what else do
those characters look like they might be...?

offline 010101 from Vancouver (Canada) on 2005-06-08 12:38 [#01626789]

now that's confused me....

It's in geek speak isn't it? If only I hadn't had
girlfriends and a life away from my computer I would get
this...

offline xceque on 2005-06-08 13:05 [#01626803]

if you got a1m0st I guess you must've converted the chess
notation into not binary :) so just translate the
number you have from geekspeek into normal sensible english
that people who have lives use.

is there a dictionary somewhere?

Not really... l33t speak seems to be pretty much
make-it-up-as-you-go-along. The basics are that you
substitute numbers and symbols for letters based on what
they look like. A bit.
So for example 0 represents 'o', 1 represents 'L', 2
represents 'Z', 3 represents 'E', etc.

offline 010101 from Vancouver (Canada) on 2005-06-08 14:02 [#01626840]
Points: 7669 Status: Regular

my first thought for 52 was to overlay the image and then
the correct letters would be pointed at.....

offline xceque on 2005-06-08 14:07 [#01626843]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

I just tried to translate what I thought the pics
represented into spanglish. Didn't occur to me to overlay
them on one another. Don't have the pic handy to try it out.
Might have been easier if that gives a clue.

offline 010101 from Vancouver (Canada) on 2005-06-08 14:28 [#01626852]
Points: 7669 Status: Regular

did you do it as a process of elimination, trying different
combinations? did it make sense in the end?

clue....

offline xceque on 2005-06-08 14:32 [#01626855]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

well, the pics are angels so I thought "hmm 'four angels'".
the only obvious translation of angels I could think of was
"angeles" which led me to "los angeles". So I tried that.

offline xceque on 2005-06-08 14:33 [#01626860]

Also check out the image filename and think back to an
earlier level.

I have the other one is it relevent that the pic is numbered
53 on level 52?

offline xceque on 2005-06-08 14:42 [#01626887]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

It's more relevent that its 'b'

offline 010101 from Vancouver (Canada) on 2005-06-08 14:47 [#01626896]
Points: 7669 Status: Regular

I have "a" that was the first thing I did...

I have translated all the words, nothing... Overlayed the
images , nothing....

offline xceque on 2005-06-08 14:57 [#01626918]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

Did you try thinking along the lines of translating
'los''angeles'?
