it was nice to see after the match how germans reacted
they just knew they were beaten by the better team
and i loved how they all were happy for ronaldo-especially
voller and beckenbauer

best sport in the world imo

Ok, this world cup is finished and I'm a little bit sad... i
liked to speak and watch football everyday.
This topic has been great and I'm sad that probably it will
finished soon.

*** Congratulations to Brasil for his deserved 5th world cup
and to Collina 'cos he has been really a great and honest
referee. ***

Cheers Woofer.

Yeah, Brazil earned 1st place in the end, well deserved ..
and a nice touch by Ronaldo (be nice for him to have laid
those world cup finals demons to rest:) .. 2nd goal was
something else ..

Perhaps Turkey deserved to be 2nd .. but then - Italy and
Spain deserved to play each other .. etc. etc. :)

Champions league - mmmhhh.. lemme see -

As I've said previously, Portugal 2004 and Germany 2006 look
to be mouth watering tournaments (as with every successive
Cup it seems :) .. champions league before them though..

Be quite interesting to see what happens to Korea now that
Hiddink has left.

Hey Tasos, I went to Greece for holiday years ago.
I visited San Torini and Paros and I had great days there.

offline WooferAttack from Milano (Italy) on 2002-07-02 10:01 [#00293081]

Tasos, what about Saravakos.
He was a great player in Panathinaikos and he scored against
my Juventus :(
I can't forgot him.
I also remeber another great player called Apostolakis.

Old Greek's glory, isn't it?

offline Tasos from Athens (Greece) on 2002-07-02 10:03 [#00293082]

aahhhhh, I haven't been in Greece for the summer for many
years now (I live in the UK), but who knows, maybe this year
I will go for a week or two in Paros... If I'm lucky... Now
I'm dreamming of it.... "yes baby, lie down like that"...
ahahahahahahaahah =)
Santorini is great too =D

offline Tasos from Athens (Greece) on 2002-07-02 10:05 [#00293083]

I can't believe you know them!!!!!! =D
Saravakos is one of the greatest Greek players ever, while
Apostolakis was the leader of Panathinaikos for many
years...
ahhhh good old days...

offline WooferAttack from Milano (Italy) on 2002-07-02 10:34 [#00293121]

Yeah, in that period Greece had great players. I know other
players, but today my memory isn't the best.

I can't forget:
-1986- (i was very young...)

Panathinaikos-Juventus=1-0
Juventus-Panathinaikos=2-1
Saravakos played very well and scored.

Panathinaikos kicked out Juve from the champion's cup.

offline Tasos from Athens (Greece) on 2002-07-02 10:56 [#00293149]
Points: 706 Status: Lurker

yeah I remember that one too... like I won't ever forget the
1996 semi-final game with Ajax in Ajax's old stadium in
Holland that ended Ajax's unbeaten record (19 European games
unbeaten)

Ajax - Panathinaikos 0-1

Who are the best Greek football players, now?

offline Tasos from Athens (Greece) on 2002-07-02 15:17 [#00293443]
Points: 706 Status: Lurker

Nikos Machlas is the big Greek star now, he's the main
forward of Ajax (!!!), while Zisis Vruzas is in Perugia and
other great players are Nikolaidis (AEK), Karagounis (Pan),
Fissas (Pan), Liberopoulos (Pan), Zagorakis etc

offline WooferAttack from Milano (Italy) on 2002-07-02 17:14 [#00293532]
Points: 12920 Status: Lurker

Yes, I know Machlas and Vryzas.
Vryzas played well in Perugia.
I know Nikolaidis and Liberopoulos too.
I hope Greece will be in the next World Cup in Germany
2006.

As I mentioned again, we have the players and the quality to
make a great team... The only bad thing is that these
players usually lack of seriousness when they play
European/international games.
If anyone saw any of their preliminary games for the world
cup would agree.
(except for dat against England of course)
anyway... anyone heard about any new transfers so far?

offline WooferAttack from Milano (Italy) on 2002-07-03 16:32 [#00295150]
Points: 12920 Status: Lurker

btw: I heard the Camacho left Spain team.

In Italy there aren't great new transfers, now.
It seems that Real Madrid want Ronaldo and Ronaldo want Real
Madrid.
Juventus want Cannavaro and Arsenal want Thuram.

Have any of you heard about Lee Bowyer ?

He was banned from playing for England because he was on
trial in court for GBH ; beating an Asian student nearly to
death.
Another time he wrecked a McDonalds restaurant because he
had been served by a "Paki" .

Liverpool are about to sign him from Leeds for £9 million.
Liverpool have made big moves to stamp out racial violence
since Heysel in 1985, and many people in England who like
Liverpool (a very popular club here) are disgusted that they
could sign such a man.

What about Buffon and Mihajlovic, and the Lazio fascists
Woofer ? Is the racist violence in Italy taken seriously by
the media ? Lots of English based players would rather stay
here or try Spain ahead of the once great serie A.

i don't know if the same one, but i heard that he's been
charged for assaulting some asians

Both Woodgate and Bowyer were involved. A black player,
Duberry, told the truth about the attack in court, and
Leeds United PLC's directors criticised him. How fucking
sad....
