smells like turkey korea to me :)

germany korea will be interesting, if germany play like they
did against the usa - could be all over. i'm picking korea
for the final - turkey brazil will be a heated game - i
predict at least one red card? but who knows. amazing - even
here there were ca. 5000 Koreans that swamped downtown ..
screaming shouting and honking horns!!!

I dont think germany will make the same fault as spain or
italy... if you want to beat korea you have to do it by 3
goals...if you get to the end of the match with a close
result....then the referee will do the rest.

korea: they have beaten portugal, poland, italy and spain

turkey: they have beaten china, japan and senegal

germany: they have beaten arabia saudi, camerun, paraguay
and usa.

brazil: they have beaten, china, turkey, costa rica, belgium
and england

for you who has done a greater effort?

for me korea (apart from referees or whatever)

Yes Korea for me to.
Portugal poland Italy and Spain....thats not easy teams.

Maybe they had some luck with the referes but still i think
they deserve to play Brazil in finals.
Those penaltys against Spain proved how good they are me
thinks.
Imagine the presure they had from the thousands of people
there , they keept their head cool and did their jobs.
Good coaching and team spirit.

Following Croatia four years ago and Bulgaria and Sweden at
USA 94, perhaps it isn’t such a great surprise that Korea
and Turkey have made it through to the last four. Now if
they were to meet in the final…

With swollen eyes, wounded pride and what-ifs everywhere,
one of Spain’s finest generations of footballers bid a
tearful farewell to international football. Luckily though,
the seeds of another were planted in a heavily contentious
quarter-final failure to co-hosts Korea.
Fernando Hierro, Spain’s captain, all-time leading scorer
and as tough a tackler as Spanish football has ever known,
rallied his exhausted mates until the final whistle, playing
his father-role with dignity and honour to spare. When the
whistle went it was old man Hierro who comforted and soothed
the young ones with warm embraces and kind words as the
world seemed to crumble once again around the cursed Spanish
squad.
After the match the Real Madrid bastion hurled no insults
nor did he spit bitter criticism, choosing instead to recall
fondly a fine career. “I am leaving with good
feelings…No one can take away my pride at having worn the
national team shirt.”
Barcelona’s Nadal, Hierro’s partner at the back with tan
skin, dark hair and a hulking frame more suited to a quarry
than a football pitch, also carried himself off the park
with honour after fine years of service for La Furia. “I
wouldn’t say the referee was to blame, it’s just one of
those things.”
And Nadal’s club mate Luis Enrique, Spain’s passionate
soul, more than likely played his last FIFA World Cup™
match in Gwangju, and he pointed out bitter disappointment
rather than fingers in the direction of the officiating
crew.
“When you've come so close, the feeling you're left with
is one of terrible sadness,” said the battling
midfielder.
In a day of sad deaths and agonizing defeat, symbols of
birth, new heroes and new stars for the future were on
display for the watching world.
20-year-old Betis midfielder Joaquin, no less brilliant for
having missed his penalty in the shootout, was the finest
player on the pitch for the full 90 minutes of regulation.
Roving well down the right flank, the youngster teased his
poor marker with impunity, again and again setting up a
disallowed goal

.........for Morientes in extra time.

Puyol too, Barcelona’s young bull at the back, proved
himself a worthy successor to his more battle-scared
team-mates in a gutsy final performance.

And Real Madrid’s young ‘keeper Iker Casillas was an
inspiration. He saved the day on a number of occasions and
played with the spirit and quality of a full veteran, before
falling victim to cruel penalties.

From death, comes life the old adage goes. And as one of
Spain’s most golden generations took a dignified bow on an
unbearable afternoon in Gwangju, a beacon of hope was there
for all to see.

And while some pointed to the referee, Spain carried herself
home yet again with honour and dignity to spare.

ehehe... I'm happy you liked my phone-mail ;-) Fortunately I
remembered your address, anyway I was and I am very sad for
Spain, for World Cup 2002 and for football.
I think last Saturday was a sad day for who loves real and
pure football.

This World Cup is dirting my favourite sport and I'm very
disappointed for everything I saw in Korea.
Honestley I'm losing my faith and interest in this world
cup, 'cos it's a fake, 'cos referee and linesmen are
distorting the real results of the matches, imo.

What say? I'd like to see Korea wins against Germany and
wins in the final.
I'd like that everyone will open his eyes and see the
truth.

SOUTH KOREA WORLD'S CHAMPION 2002 !!!

BTW: A long applause to Blatter and FIFA.

First of all I'd like that you connected your brain to hand
first of write here.

Then...
The name of the team is Perugia. They sacked him 'cos last
year he was an awful player here in italy, he scored only
one goal. First of match against Italy he spoke bad about
Italian players and he was arrogant. These are the real
reasons.

About "you're a bunh of sad/sore losers!"
... I prefer don't give you an answer, you don't deserve
it.

About "patethic"... well, read my answer above.

Have you seen Germanys press ?

"Our men are pathetic...Lucky...zombies..."

Franz Beckenbauer; " I would like every German player
(except for Khan) to be put in a big sack together , so I
could kick it , knowing that whichever players I kicked
would deserve it "

And the Turkish press?

"The team are bowing to their donkey-god Hakan Sukur. He
blames them for the fact that he is useless, and they
support him. Our nation hits ourselves at how awful he is,
and now the children of the Turkey squad sulk like spoiled
brats and refuse to talk to the nation. We made these people
great and look how they treat us."

And the Brazilian press ?

"Our destiny is again in our hands ; as when we stole defeat
from glory in 1998. Watch now Scolari show his real colours,
watch Lucio trip over the ball again; Pray for this
defensive team who need 10 men behind the ball because they
are scared by their inability to defend and by their
negative manager. Another disgrace to the memory of 1970.
Pele looks on in embarrasment "

Korea in everyone elses press ?

"Cheats... The luckiest team ever... Referees must be
staying in Korea after the world cup in palaces .......
Blatter gives the hosts a leg-up....
Conspiracy undermines the cups great history.. Are we about
to witness the worst ever team to win the cup ?"

All quotes from press websites commenting on the four
remaining teams left in the tournament.

What does it all mean ?
I think that people have forgotten how to view the game. We
ALL need to learn again the beauty of the game. How to LOSE
graciously, even if the decisions were wrong. Its a game.
How to WIN gracefully, accepting your triumph with honour,
not arrogance or disrespect to your own team, who are only
trying their hardest. We expect too much, there is too much
emphasis on winning and on success. It says a lot that the
last four remaining countries have been surrounded by bitter
controversy instead of praise. It says a lot that people
don't care for the tournament anymore because

"Football is a game and like every game it has laws that
must be respected".
In this world cup referees and linesmen broke and are
broking these laws.

A simple but true concept, imo.

what I was saying was that even the successful teams are
being crucified in their own countries newspapers (apart
from Korea).

even winning isn't enjoyable anymore ?

I know how I felt when Maradona punched the ball in the goal
in 1986 v. England , so I agree with nac & woofer that
decisions can ruin the game, but what do you suggest ? There
is no obvious cure-all answer... or is there ?

but that goal by maradona wa a single thing...I mean
argentina wasnt favoured by referees anymore in that
championship...so it was just a mistake maybe... mistakes
are part of the game... do you think that this is the same
case????

mmm... yes. sorry.

I didn't see much wrong in the Italy v Korea game , the
decisions were very close split - second decisions.(Tomassi
onside 1 inch only)

Italy v. Croatia was poor, but why would there be a
conspiracy to get Croatia through ? THERE WOULDN'T !!!
Besides the referee Graham Poll is useless anyway, he always
makes mistakes in England aswell.

Spain v. Korea was awful, I agree. The ball was IN for the
header, but that was the linesman, not the referee. ONE
DECISION. on the freekick ; well 1 in 3 freekicks & corners
the ref blows for pushing against the attacking side.
Belgium got done like that v. Brazil (Wilmots header). Sol
Campbell v. Argentina in France 1998 also.

The refereeing was SHIT , yes. Also Torsten Frings' handball
against the USA , which was JUST as bad, on the line. SHIT
SHIT refereeing. Yes.
Maradona V. England , equally bad. And the second Maradona
goal in that game , (the great one) involved Glenn Hoddle
being fouled to give Argentina posession to score. There are
always bizarre decisions.

I know what you're saying, but I think FIFA is so concerned
now that there can't be favouritism to Korea anymore. Spain
were robbed, sure. But no more than England 16 years ago .
It still hurts , but the pain gets a little less each day ;)

I hope you can still enjoy the cup nacmat, I probably
wouldn't If i was Spanish.

I'm annoyed that some of the 'happy' teams are out. Senegal,
Ireland, Costa Rica for example. They all added much needed
colour to the tournament. Great fans, proud countries, good
play etc... Germany & Turkey (and even Brazil) are moaning ,
its not good .

RZPCT

I have no problems with U ,tho I agree my stance on Italy is
colored ,'cause they beat Holland in Euro 2000 in a match
they didn't deserve 2 win.(in my opinion) The match with
Korea felt like some bit of revenge.

I'm no fan of Italian football style,.so yes I'm biased.
Wheter or not that korean player should be sacked tho,.so
short after the match is another question.

I think at least the timing is off.

Ah .. here's my picks

Germany vs Korea - (1:0) 1:2
Brazil vs Turkey - (0:0) 1:1 (ext.1:2)

Playoff for 3rd
Germany vs Brazil - (0:2) 1:3

Final
Korea vs Turkey - (1:0) 1:1 (ext.1:1) (pen.3:5)

But seeing my predictions have a tendency to be horribly
wrong, i don't see why this shouldn't be the case this time
:)

Brazil sure is good at stalling out games when they need to.
The acting school that they go to seems to pay off for
them. It seems whenever a play is stopped for one of their
hurt players, he is magically alright. If they do make it
to the final, I hope that Germany will be there to give them
a reason for holding their faces and acting like little
girls.

In EURO2000 Italy was lucky but referee and linesman didn't
help us, I think.
We beat Holland (after penalties) in 9 players against 11 (2
expulsion), we had 2 penalty against (and Toldo was a king).
Fortune and favouritisms are different things, imo.

Didn't you see much wrong in italy v korea? gulp...
You forgot the expulsion of Totti...
You forgot a clear hand fault in Korea area.
...then you forgot Italy v Mexico (2 regulars goal denied)
...etc... etc... etc...

About Maradona and England, I remember very well "the hand
of god" but it was a referee's error, not a favouritism,
imo.

Woofer>

I think we should stop this conspiracy theory now. I know
Italy has been wronged. And Spain. Its bad. I'm not arguing
with you. It sucks. I just can't understand why Italy (a big
football nation)
would be plotted against by FIFA. The theory doesn't hold
up. Sure, maybe Korea has had biased decisions as they are
hosts, but why would Mexico or Croatia get favours ? Do you
think the Germany handball was a mistake against USA or a
conspiracy ? It does look like a conspiracy against Italy,
but I still doubt that it actually is.

One thing I have thought though....
If Brazil and Korea go through to the final it will add
credibility to your arguement. Remember how Brazil was
pressurised by FIFA and Nike to play Ronaldo in France '98
final and they lost 3-0.. maybe FIFA wants them to win it
this year as an "apology" for that mess... And yes, maybe
they do want Korea as a gift to the excellent job they have
done as hosts.

I still think Germany will beat Korea .
I'm concentrating on the game today now, lets see who gets
the decisions today...

prediction > no bad decisions
Germany win 3-0
Everyone goes home happy.

actually 3 of the korean goals wont even be goal but the
referee will kick the ball into the net . the other two will
be two penalty kicks (non existing penalty) that the referee
will have to make them kick twice each one as the koreans
will fail their first attempt.

germany will score 6 times... but 3 of them will be annuled
by off side (non existing) 2 of them will be annuled by a
previous non existing fault and the other one will be
annuled cos someone frome the audience shouts too much while
they scored the goal.
