Today i went to a job interview with that filthy whore from my temp work agency. I spent half an hour in the car with this worthless piece of shit in the car to my new job place. Inbetween that it was fucking hard to disguise my disgust with this whorish money grubbing bitch, but i managed to make some small talk, which I did not find boring. I still hope this person dies and her kids get cancer, get fucked whore. |

i wasn't totally serious. but it's an idea that can be found in various forms in christian and buddhist traditions. there's the christian idea that the human I is the product of roughly two competing selves - the egoistic self and the altruistic self. egoism is basically the source of evil and altruism the source of good, so one would basically need to overcome one's egoistic self to overcome evil, pain and suffering. or the similar buddhist idea that the ego is the source of pain (because egoistic desires point to things one lacks and thus suffers from) and the idea that one needs to realize that the I is in fact an illusion and nirvana waits for you once you understand that. ... while i wasn't totally serious (and the idea that the self is a battle-ground of the forces of good and evil might sound a bit naive) i still think the idea that a lot of personal misery comes from egoism and can be overcome if one looks at the world from a less egomaniac perspective is true. ... one example of course is the pain of isolation: it's not rare that isolation is driven by a "too large ego". it happens quite often that people don't want to open up to other people because they're afraid that they won't be impressive and awe-inspiring to them. so they isolate themselves and are miserable. so it's not about multiple personality disorder, but about accepting the idea that there are different parts of the self and that some parts of the self have more value (the altruistic or non-egoistic parts) than the others. |

I think cbt only works if you take yourself seriously and show a bit of empathy. Yeah it is strange and sometimes funny how we construct our reality, but in the worst case it can lead to a lot of suffering. |

"Money can't buy one happiness.", but money can buy e, which can result in experiencing of serotonin and other chemicals related to happiness, so it's pretty close.
