Francis. Nobody blackmails QRDL! This is far from ending
though - later you have a choice between striking a deal
with Dimitri or hunting him down. I like my meals served
cold.

Everyone I've spoken to has killed the pig...there is
something lovable about Irish smack addicts. I was
disappointed to get to the end but only because it was the
end.

57 hours. I took my time indeed.

The end is a bit jaggy imo. MINOR SPOILERS: I'm supposed to
decide between money and revenge? Where are my options to
choose neither or both?

Anyway great game though.

jaggy? in what way?
I went with revenge, I am going to go with money next time,
although I guess the outcome is exactly the same as the
final bit is in the tv adverts.

but after all the 250,000 grand you get from the bank job,
do you even get that much more in a single job again? (i
wouldn't know yet)

No. Unfortunately money is a total non-factor in this game.
It almost feels like you make more in that one mission than
you could ever spend in-game.

I was so dissapointed in it because the game had managed to
hide it's underlying structure before. No obvious story
progression triggers or overly forced choices. This may be
the only game I've seen to succeed in this, except for the
last mission. If those triggers/choices become to apparent
it destroy's the whole experience for me. It changes from
living story to programmed procedure.

I agree, and on top of that, the outcome is entirely
predictable if you choose revenge.

However, this still stands as the best in the series. The
charactes, the dialogs, great majority of the story, all
that finally reached a respectable level. Taxis, internet,
TV... AND they dropped all of the unnecessary and outright
childish (IMO) stuff like tattoos, haircuts, pimping your
rides.... Even the dating has a real impact since your girls
have some special abilities. Kiki, the Manhattan lawyer for
example. She saved my ass from police twice. One of those
times included me trying to drive in narrow streets avoiding
police cars and in the same trying to call her. I felt like
in real life when you drop a phone in the car dusing
conversation.

And I agree, the bank job should get you 100K the most.

Fuck off. Why should those Irish bastards get to keep more,
I put my fucking life on the line for that money, 250000 is
the least I expect, especially when those mick pricks almost
got me shot by the college preppy.

A leat 62,5K should go to the family of the guy who didn't
make it, innit? But what can you expect from such an easter
european scum.

Which was the toughest mission for you? I got frustraded
during "Smackdown". My abilities on the PS3 controller are
so so and this fight in close quarters ended up badly at
least 4 times. And FUCK, the buildup was so long and
unskippable!

i don't remember what the mission was called, but it was the
one with Elizabeta's coke, and you had to escape the
N.O.O.S.E. filled building.

I believe SOBHOE lives up to her name

hung out to dry, but that was only because my tv is by the
window and it was daytime and I couldn't see anything I mean
the screen was just black (it was before i thought to adjust
the in game brightness and contrast). Other than that I
thought it was all a bit easy.

pulseclock on that mission I just ran for it, the body
armour and full health meant I got out of the building and
into the car without firing one shot :)

I remember that one. Took me a couple of times too, but that
was only because you said it was hard, haha. And yeah, I
seemed a bit easier than the previous instalments,
especially the mass killing missions. Though this might be
just thanks to the coddling auto-target.

I just unlocked Manhattan last night, been doing everything
but missions.

In Hung out to dry I killed every single cop except the ones
on the street. I just took the closest cop car. The cop was
next to me firing point blank before I got in. I thought it
was easy. The cover system really works great most of the
time.

The biggest difficulty so far has been when you can't see
what's going on on the TV screen, like ecnadniarb said. I'm
playing on an old 28" fat screen.

I've had more trouble with the really easy missions than the
big shoot-outs because of this. The one where you follow a
dealer up into an apartment and have to kill everyone inside
was a bitch. I was like, WTF where did he go? Not that I'm
complaining about the sunshine outside :)

I remember Hung out to dry being a chase mission starting in
a laundromat, but I might be wrong.

That is it.
It was when I got out the back and he drives off. I couldn't
see a damn thing.

The Snow Storm, the one with the coke in the old hospital.
The only mission I had to try more than twice I think.

missions apart..

The hardest mission for me so far has been one for Derrick
where you have to grab a police car, go and follow a guy
from a burger shot to his house then kill him and his mates.
Every time I fired the first shot the cops were right on top
of the house and I'd get annihilated as soon as I walked
out. Took about six attempts before I managed to make it to
a car and escape. Don't know why though, every other mission
hasn't been a problem.

I had a tough time with that mission too. Any mission where
starting a gunfight attracts bacon can be a pain for me
because of the inherent randomness. You never know when,
where or how many cops are going to show up and it's tough
to plan for it.

Yeah, that's the one, "Smackdown". I think they didn't do
enough playtesting on that one,

you just go in the house quickly, kill them quick and don't
spend ages shooting from the outside of the house and you
can get it done before the cops come. you can always escape
out the back door too.

Yeah I've just watched my mate do it this morning and the
police didn't even turn up. he sniped the guys outside from
a distance then just strolled in, finished the rest off and
strolled back out. He hasn't failed a single mission yet.

It's good, but I was hoping for a much bigger jump to be
honest. I know it's still more ambitious than 80% of other
games, but it's felt like another 3d GTA with prettier
textures so far. I was hoping for more interior buildings to
explore, more interaction with the environment and
pedestrians, more choices within missions...I got a Xbox360
just for this, but I'm enjoying the 'Half Life 2: Orange
Box' game a lot more.

Maybe I'm just a bit bored of the GTA series. I had just
been playing San Andreas before this, which might have been
a bit of a stupid move.

Anyone else had to go out and buy real hot dogs? This game
makes me hungry.

"Put this hot meat in your mouth!"

I just went from a 28in fat screen to a 46in LCD. Now I can
actually see what all the signs say and the radio station
logos do make sense now. I didn't notice the short DOF
effect earlier either.

I still need to tweak the image parameters, the game looks
like it's being unsharp masked to death now.

Euro Cup is coming up soon too. That'll be sweet with this
monolith.

(it's a Sony KDL46W4000)
