I am sorry for my friend woofer

the first half was really nice but then the rest was
boring... buffon was great in penaltys but juve shot real
bad ones and didda stopped 3

congrats for milan, but still feel sorry for my italian
friend

this thread will still have some more posts to discuss about
th whole year, but so far I must say that it was great
posting here... thanks to woofer for creating the thread and
thanks to everybody that kept posting here instead of
opening a thread every week.

see you all around

sorry woofer for juve losing

and sorry for saying this :

how many times must Italian teams bore us to death with 0-0
finals ? remember world cup 94 ? AC Milan scored how many
goals in their last 5 champions league games ? was it 2
goals ?
In five games ? Thats unacceptable entertainment for winners
of a big competition. I really wish we'd seen a Madrid v
Manchester final, with Madrid winning 3-2. At least we'd
have seen some good goals.

Apparently the second half and extra time were even worse
than the first half, after which i went down the pub with my
friend, because the first half was so tedious.

the champions league has let everyone down again. time to
change the format to either a big league or a straight
forward knock-out. This league/knockout mix makes losers end
up as winners and it degrades football.

0-0. what a surprise. half of them couldn't even score the
penalties. pfff.....

here i am :( well, i'm used to lose final with juve, but
this is really hard to digest for 2 reasons:

1st: 'cos it was against an great italian rival as milan
2nd: 'cos we lost only after last shoot in the penalties

it's less hard to lose in the semifinals that lose in the
grandfinal... you can touch the cup with fingers of your
hands and then... dream is over.

yeah, nacmat i'm really happy for this football forum too
;)
we had a lot of fun with our fav sport here, with nice argue
and comments.
it was my fav champion's league edition 'cos of this too ;)

you said: "I really wish we'd seen a Madrid v

I think we all saw good goals in semifinal Juventus-Real
Madrid=3-1 too, isn't it? ;)

Anyway i agree, final of yesterday was pretty bore with few
emotions (apart for final penalties)

it was a decent final... just because there aren't goals
doesn't make it boring... and as for shevchenko's original
goal... there's no way the ref could have allowed that when
the milan striker (Rui Costa, was it?) was right next to
Buffon in an interfering position...
Trezeguet played like shit... i can understand why Lippi
didn't sub him, but i think he should have... i would have
taken him off instead of Camoranesi, put in Di Vaio
perhaps.... oh well... at least it was an Italian team

at least we saw real against united in 2 games which were
really good-especially the 2nd game...that was real
football

(woofer, sorry for juve...)

im not sure who was interfering...but that was just camera
angle-you should see that from different position and you'd
know-there was no interfering!

it's not that he physically touched Buffon, but he is
standing close enough to him, that the ref has to call it,
he is in the play, and that's what matters... not that it
really matters, because the game would've played out very
differently had the goal held...

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-05-29 01:35 [#00719150]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

he wasnt close to buffon is what im trying to say...

and if that goal would stand the game we would watch a
better game

but its all good anyway...

about Trezeguet and Camoranesi, I'm totally agree with you.
Why not DiVaio... why?

then... i couldn't believe to my eyes when i saw Montero
near to shoot the penalty... why didn't shoot players as
Tacchinardi, Zambrotta or Thuram? why?
Montero is a good defensor but his feet are of marble.

Montero who shoot a penalty is like AFX who play Latin
Pop... this isn't his job.

1986

barça lost champions league final in penalty shot also

you know how many did we score? ...

0... yes, the other team scored only 2 but we 0... that was
really sad way of loosing

year... that 3-1 against madrid

i mostly enjoyed the gattuso/davids battle in midfield, the
defenders on both teams were first class, and buffon's save
from the diving header would have been the save of the
tournament, had they won the game

nacmat

can you tell me how atletico bilbao is doing in the spanish
championship?

how many rounds till the end of the championship?

offline nacmat on 2003-06-22 10:40 [#00751609]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to tolstoyed: #00751601

today is the final day!!!!!!

this is the situation

madrid - bilbao
real sociedad - atletico de madrid
barça - celta

league positions:

1st real madrid
2nd real sociedad (2 points behind)

6th bilbao
7th barça (2 points behind)

if madrid wins.... madrid is the champion
if madrid doesnt win and real sociedad wins... then real
sociedad is the champion

bilbao is fighting with barcelona for the last uefa cup
place, so if bilbao wins, madrid might loose the league but
barça wont get to uefa cup.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-06-22 10:44 [#00751618]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

uhh, that should be a great game today then (the real-bilbao
one)

what if real draws with bilbao and real sociedad wins
atletico madrid - that would mean the same amount of
points?
are they going for the goal difference or the team that won
more games wins the championship?

Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to tolstoyed: #00751618

in that case real sociedad wins too... cos they won 4-1 at
home and tied 1-1 in bernabeu

offline nacmat on 2003-06-22 11:05 [#00751670]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

to sum up:

if real sociedad doesnt win today... real madrid is
champion

if real sociedad wins today: real madrid must also win to be
champion

and bilbao must win or wait for barça not to win to get to
uefa

today is one of those days that make me love football

for me the perfect end would be: (remember I am a barça
supporter)

real madrid and bilbao draw:
real sociedad and barça win:

real sociedad wins the championship
barça goes to uefa

yeah, i cant wait to see the match
im going to watch real-bilbao one

anyway, i hope real doesnt let del bosque go if they lose
this championship - i think he has a lot to do with this
attractive style mardrid is playing

I agree about del bosque... and he also managed to keep the
peace in a dificult group, with so many stars... madrid
should keep him

after all he has won 1 league and 2 european cups

very calm most of the time

and yeah, you totally have a point there...not easy to keep
all those stars happy

Juventus isn't strong enough for next champion's league...
c'mon... we need more champions.

I think barça will back good next year, they're really
actives on the market.
