is that how important you feel fame is?
do you view palestinian suicide bombers, who are actually doing such atrocious things for a reason other than a selfish quest for fame, in the same way?

There is a difference between a brainwashed moron who does it because he's being manipulated, and a guy with mental/anger disorder/personal problems who vents it all on his own society.

Frankly, I find both funny. It's amazing how living in a warzone and being treated like shit by a cruel culture for a couple of years can desynthesize you.

why is it that nothing ever happens as a result of these massacres.... you can only have so much sympathy for the victims and their family. if nothing is done as a result then its just meaningless shallow sentiment. and it will only be a matter of time before someone else takes a dislike to mondays or whatever....

capitalism is only a pejorative term for the free enterprise system. before all it IS a way of life, that of a lot of greedy and anal individuals living in a society allowing them to be that way, i think. does it say "accumulate as much capital as possible" anywhere in the constitution? only because everyone is free to make as much of her/his potential that doesn't automatically mean encouragement to do it on any (other people's) cost. i just wanna say that i think the reason "liberal" economies don't work doesn't lie within itself and that it's still the most thinkable "humanistic" way. i mean look at what happens if you try to restrict possession like in communist states. yeah right, in an "ideal" world it could maybe work but so would "capitalism", but without some religous-like moral agenda.
besides of that all our notions of nobility of mind/ "altruism" etc have been forged through class society, i just can't imagine any sense of justice emerging from anarchy.

on the actual case all i can say that i pity people missing dead people whenever i get to know of them.

It doesn't have to be in the constitution for the pressure from society to be there. I'm also not necessarily advocating communism, I'm just saying there should be more government restrictions on companies, less focus on economy (which nowadays seems to override both the political and, even worse, ethical concerns), better public health/education/whatever systems; you shouldn't have to be "punished" for where, and to who, you're born. I have many more things that are worthy of critique, but not the time to type them out.

The restrictions will necessarily apply to everyone, but I can imagine that larger corporations are more prone to getting into situations where they want to break the restrictions (without it actually being necessary) just because it increases profit. For instance, if you forbid the fishing industry to fly their fish from Norway to China for processing and then back to Norway for selling (it's cheaper) and instead tell them to use the local work force, that probably wouldn't apply to the local fishery at the docks, but to the large organisations. Also, if you put restrictions on when and who it's acceptable for a company to "lay off" when they feel like maximising profit by using a cheaper workforce (from) somewhere else, that isn't going to apply to Ol' Joe's Sawmill where the only employees are Joe and his uncle Carl. Those are kind of basic (and very very simplified) examples, so don't take them all too literally.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Mala Kumar, a 22-year-old student from Richmond, has two of her friends in hospital being treated for injuries.

She is keen to see gun controls tightened - but realises how difficult a task that is. "If the guy had come through with any other weapon that wasn't firearms, it would have been much, much less harmful.

"But it's a handgun, not a weapon you would think of as a horribly, horribly dangerous weapon.

ugh, that is definitely a ridiculous thing to say, i think what the professor towards the end of the article (Mr Feigenbaum) says about arming himself in the classroom is a little more alarming though.

What on earth is this event happening at the moment in Virgina Tec? They're all chanting and hollerin' and clapping. "Oh yeah! We just had the biggest mass killin' in a US college and we are gonna whoop it up and prevail!"

"America, even Americans hate it."
the bottom line is responsibility. no matter which problem you pick apart. you could say education needs reform and that if more people were educated... but even behind that lies responsibility. and it's because we leave responsibility up to somebody else. all this finger pointing everybody is doing proves my point. this is the way governments work. since most people are retarded in a government where the majority rules, this problem only gets compounded. "i don't have the time or the resources to decide what's right, if only someone else would choose for me, that way i won't have to bear the blame when shit goes wrong." incidentally, that's what we have here. now unless you live in a shack up in the mountains or deep in a forest, you really aren't left with the power to reject the system. fortunately, for those who've done their homework on the history and foundation of the american government, you would realize that all the problems that plague us today are a result of deviating from our forefathers original intent when they wrote the constitution. they foresaw all the ways that could corrupt a government and painstakingly took appropriate measures to counter such possibilities, hence the BILL OF RIGHTS! so to tie everything together... gun control laws are not the problem, education reform would help, and taking responsibility for our lack of participation in the political arena is a start. if you need clarification on anything i mentioned please ask, i'll be more than happy to set you straight, although it may take some time considering arguing debates on a message board isn't exactly my main focus in life, even though i do enjoy a good challenge every now and again.
