Too true. Fuck the US imperialists and their war. No war but
the class war

where the hippies went wrong is: they thought monging on
acid in haight-ashbury would somehow make everyone go "shit!
we must now just spend our days smoking dope and being nice
to one another!!" unfortunately, it don't work -=- there
must be one final ultraviolent revolution then a mad descent
into anarchy and i will drive a madmax car thru the desert
killing refugees from the corporate world! :D

Chaos is, by it's nature temporary, in an anarchistic
situation gangs would form for protection, they would join
together and within 100 years we would be back where we are,
just with a lower technology base and a lower quality of
life.

Seems like someone took fight club too seriously...

Not at all, my dad's a real hippy and very anti-government.

I don't want to fall out over this or for people to take it
too take it personally. Let's agree to disagree?

I could really go for some cash right now. Like a million
dollars, falling from the sky into my backyard. I'd be so
happy.

Too late. I'll be up to Ponty the next time I go back to
Wales. Watch your back or change your opinions - the choice
is yours butt.

give you half of everything I own like a good little

Look man, don't give up an argument just to be diplomatic.
If you believe what you say then back up your argument.
Total consensus is impossible and I'm into friendly debate.
I won't really come up to Ponty for your Tory ass. Just keep
off of the streets of Cardiff.

I spend a fair bit of time in Ponty ;( can't I go there.

I'm not really changing my views it's just I've got a report
to finish and I know I won't if I keep re-checking threads
every 5 mins.

At least this conversation has increased our points a bit,
eh? :)

well, capitalism is what it's called nacmat. we could start
calling it vera, but then think of all the paperwork

clarified after the evil propoganda used by western media

technology has the potential to enrich the entire globe -
the global energy network would force governments to work
together. computers mean we can automate manual jobs, they
mean we can get information from different sources and can
get lesser-known information.

war technology seems to be really crap seeing as nothing
works properly. odd that. failing to hit the right targets,
"accidentally" killing innocent civillians

capitalism is a reflection of evolution/ survival of the
fittist.
to be a better mate and increase your chances of
procreating, you must make yourself more attractive than
other prospective mates. communism and socialism and any
other "everyone equal/share the wealth" systems don't work
because no one really wants to be equal. our evolutionary
instincts tell us that we must amass wealth to become better
providers for our potential mates. by taking more than our
fare share via capitalistic means, we increase our chances
of finding a mate and therefore ensure that our genes are
propagated.

most animals do it. animals fight over carcasses. birds
steal materials from other nests to build their own.

it will only end when humans evolve beyond these instincts
which will not happen in our lifetimes.

offline jonesy from Lisboa (Portugal) on 2002-03-04 16:47 [#00111083]

Oh God not another one.

If the unequal distribution of wealth is down to the
survival of the fittest how do you explain the position of
black people in the US?

Are they inferior/not fit enough to climb the ladder? How do
explain this anamoly?

Were the Jews not fit enough to defend themselves from
Nazism in 1930s Germany?

did you know that in the 1950s, the american government
burnt ALL the works of the then-vilified and now-respected

an anti comunist,
a anti capitalist,
anti evolutionist,
anti ideologist.

My statement is:
fuck all fucking ideologis.

Ideologis are bound to be missunderstod.
Sure it's good that peapol speak up what they wanna say.
Tell the world what they wanna say. Wrigth books with thier
tougths. Making films and music on the subject.

But what's rigth and true is whitin our self at all time,
and peapol fuck up the truth by blindly following other's
tougths.

Think for your self.

Be guided not led.

your ideology would then be "fuck all fucking ideologies"
which would of course be a paradox. telling people to "be
guided not led" is of course, guiding them. but then, life
is just one big paradoxical kick in the head after another.

*the scientist, wilheilm reich, pioneered orgone research,
and was like a modern da vinci in his plethora of amazing
ideas and theories, which were debunked by the AMA on NO
grounds at all, without ever being independantly tried -- it
is still illegal to do his experiments, but all that have
been done have backed up his theories more or less
completely. THAT is fascism, not elitism*

going back a bit, when someone said "once you play the
system you become a part of it." Well there is such a thing
as 'accomodation' where you are against the system but still
work through it to get the reward. For example, I am doing
quite well at school, which is a grammar school, but i hate
the school system and i hate grammar schools.

Grammar school's are really elitist and deprive other
schools of the "best" teaching staff.
I hate the education system because its main aim is to get u
to jump through hoops and prepare you for the capitalist
world rather than fully education you. People say that
they've chosen particular subjects to study because these
subjects will improve their chances of getting a well paid
job, but i just chose my subjects cos i enjoy them and find
them interesting (music, music tech, psychology and
sociology).

several times I've had talks with my parents about how shit
the world is, and i say, "what's the point in life then,
noone seems to enjoy it?" Everyone's too busy worrying about
making money, and then once they've made that money they
worry about keeping it. Thinking about my future life makes
my head implode, like thinking about the nothingness which i
believe space is suspended in.

loads of people in this thread have said how people are
NATURALLY greedy and so will be greedy bastards, well that's
not the case at all. If that were true then all men would be
rapists, because they all get that "urge" (probably not the
best way to put it) but we learn to control our behaviour.
We are not totally instinctive, we have minds - we are not
animals. And when someone talks about an alternative to
capitalism too many people are totally dismissive of that
alternative, even if at 1st u dont agree with it, you could
at least try to understand it - if you still think its
wrong, show where the flaw is. You gotta communicate better,
otherwise its like fucking school again where you shouldn't
talk back to the teacher - what a load of shit that is.
School = our 1st ta

anyone ashamed of what they have? I feel ashamed that i dont
always give what i can to people who suffer more than i do,
and i think this can be due to the media giving me a false
conciousness about things like music, fashion, school,

democratic capitalism is only as constructive as those who
comprise it. if you believe in a communism, then work to
establish it locally, as that is the only scale it will
work.
there will always be classes, because --contrary to marlowe
-- i believe people are inherently self-interested. If
you've ever lived in a city where people are forced together
you will see this. all of a sudden, community is gone. As
giving as you may be, will it be at the cost of you, your
family, your community? Each day I pass at least ten
homeless panhandlers. I am in a situation to give something
to any or none of them. Can anyone say what is the -ology
that would help every one of those ten?
A democratic capitalism will work best when everyone
embraces it, so in this respect, the U.S. would desire a
sort of imperialism. i'm not sure if that is necessarily
terrible, if you beleive that the end goal is not to
dominate but to include (and i realise this idea sounds like
banner-waving, but I do not believe our policies are towards
an end in stripping beliefs or customs from people
completely, but for a degree of order).
As for the questioned War on Hunger, 75% of the Iraqi people
depend on food and aid from the UN (Head of Iraqi relief
program, NPR). I personally know numerous people who give
their time in this respect, and others who go into
government with constructive aims. I wonder about those of
you who talk about governments as if they're comprised from
another species...this is easy to feel, more difficult to
change.
excess may be the demise of the capitalist experiment, but
don't make out that it's the root of evil. when was the
last time there was sustained peace in the middle-east (or
anywhere for that matter)?
get off your asses and push within the system if you feel
adamant that your 'leaders' are working you. Live more
humbly. otherwise live it out and shut the fuck up.

Reading some of the unconstructive bashing here reminds me
of the Anti-Roman group in Monte Python's The Life of Brian.
