As plaid said, aside from you and a few other people, comparatively few people submitted tracks, a fair number of people cited difficulty DLing rebirth as a reason. So, we extended the deadline and hosted rebirth, so everyone can join in the fun. |

sorry for butting in ceri, but... the last we heard was that ceri was working on the final mix and it would be done in a few days, but this was at the end of january. this vibes is currently in limbo. |

Sorry chaps, it's no excuse for taking this long, but you deserve an explanation: I had nearly finished it, I then had an awful virus for 2 weeks (as in me having a flu-like thing, not my PC machine!) and was basically in bed and unable to look at a screen for the duration. Almost immediately upon my recovery, Traktor cocked up on my laptop, my desktop machine got a virus and I've not had time to rebuild that (work, study, legal cases/claims), so doing it on that wasn't an option either. The playlist/track selection/order etc. is 99% done, it's just a case of mixing it. I wasn't planning on having long beatmixed mixes anyway as that somewhat defeats the point of it being re-birth only, so I'm thinking of not using Traktor at all (which is the current stumbling block). I'm actually thinking I'll proabably do it just end of one file, start of the other in one long sequential track in a wav editor. I feel really bad about leaving this so long (I know from being in the position of being the person who has submitted a track waiting for the vibes to come out) and I really will make every effort to finish it promptly. As I say, all these "reasons" are no excuse and I should have gone and used a mate's machine or something. Sorry, won't happen again. I hope the quality of the finished vibes (really is a lot better than I imagined and should silence some of the people who slated the concept of the vibes) goes so way to make up for this. I'd really like it to be mixed, I don't see how that defeats the point of this vibes. I'm not sure what the point of one huge file is if they aren't mixed. I'll have a go at mixing it if you like, I can't be sure I'll have time straight away tho. |

Well, the idea is that it should at least sound like it's done rebirth. If for example you're mixing 3 or 4 303s, that sound couldn't come from 1 instance of rebirth. No problem if one is ending on a 909 and the other is starting on the 808 though. I'm going to try and get Traktor working again tonight. Cheers, Ceri |
