The meaning behind Windowlicker

that's even worse than calling me a twat, I HATE the daily
mail with a vengance, even more than I hate mindless Aphex
fanboys in fact, and that's a lot.

I don't ever wanna condone terroism but if someone ever
bombed the Mail's offices I'd be dancing in the street.

put the dictionary away perlease, (scup-bucket you think I'M
being pompous and condescending) , facism to the layman is a
word that describes someone who feels superiority over those
who he considers to be inferior and acts accordingly.
and yes I guess racism does fit into this category too, but
that's not the issue.

how is it madness? just because I think that windowlicker
has got slightly dubious sentiments behind it.

starting a thread illustrating that say... Frank Black is a
sexist, deranged, sexual pervert would be IMO "madness gone
politically correct" (and FYI I don't think that at all, I
love him)
but not this.

you're the first layman i've come across who thinks that's
what fascism means.

obviously been participating in too many discussions and
arguments where people suddenly feel the overwhelming urge
to label things as FASCIST (and probably "FASCISTIC" if
they're so illiterate) and go with it.

using words like fascist, which have so many emotional
connotations to them, to try to get the upperhand in a
debate is just pathetic.

you've done your argument no good.

although this was never really a debate..

and, come to think of it, "prejudice" would've been the
perfect word, since I don't think anybody can consider
handicapped people a race.

not that anyone cares..

It was a play on words, a joke, you daft idiot. I'm sure
everyone is clear on your standpoint regarding aphex, that's
all you seem to bitterly spout. Give it a rest mate, it's
boring now.

well you've just done your arguement no good by saying that
"facism" is an inappropiate word but "prejudice" is, don't
the two go hand in hand?, how can you be a "facist" without
some extent being "prejudice" too?.

I wasn't trying to get the upper hand, just stating an
opinion, the fact is I don't need to get the upper hand, you
either find laughing at retarded people distasteful or you
don't,

You probably can't be a fascist without being prejudiced.

However.

That doesn't mean that if you're prejudiced, it makes you
fascist. You can't employ that sort of backwards (pun
intended) logic. Think about what you're saying.

And really - how is the song making fun of retarded people?
Sure, I'll take your word for it that windowlicker is
something kids call retards over there.

But please just fucking read the posts in this thread
accurately explaining the reason it's called Windowlicker,
with references to the video. Have you even seen the video?
Or have you only seen what it says in the AFXFAQ?

I don't want answers to these questions: frankly I don't
care. It's your problem if you choose to get uppity about
something you're refusing to understand by looking at the
big picture.

Yes I'm aware of that, that's kind of the whole point of
this thread, and I'm pleased that you have acknowledged that
it was a "joke", it is a "joke", my point is as to wether
it's actually funny or not.
How is it a play on words though? don't get that at all

yeah I've seen the video, it seemed to be having a go at
stupid rap videos if anything, don't see how any of the
explanations on this thread were accurate they all seemed
quite tenuous in what they were trying to say with regards
to that.

come on... you accept that Windowlicker is a slang term for
retards, listen the track, listen to the voice on the track,
I'm sorry but that's the sound of a child taking the piss
out of a retard, it's just so obvious, doesn't that bother
you ever such a little bit?

don't get me wrong (which I think a lot of you have done) I
can appreciate the musical merits of Windowlicker (check
other posts I've made if you don't believe me) but there's
something at the back of my mind that's saying that those
sentiments are a tad wrong.

And as I said before what's the point in a discussion forum
if I can't make those feelings known.

Let me state a few things before I point out what a douche
you are.

I like Aphex, but what I have to say has nothing to do with
him. This thread could be about any artist for all I care.

I didn't even think of this whole 'retarded thing' until you
came in here and mentioned it. Now everytime I heard this
song, i'm gonna think of drooling little short-bus kids
evertime thanks to you. Way to ruin the music by reading too
much into it. You obviously have too much free time on your
hands. You remind me of these 'anti-racism' people who spend
all their time pointing out whats racist in TV's and movies
thereby creating a double standard about abolishing racism
and becomming a total hippocritical dick.

Who gives a fuck? If you really think there is a 'joke' here
and you dont find it funny, guess what? Stop listening to
it. You obviously put more emphasis on the meanings and
titles of music rather than the sound comming out of your
stereo so piss off. I couldnt' give a fuck if Richard called
the song " a chorus of 45 retarded kids whinning over a phat
beat " or "i hate jews" I'm still gonna enjoy it.

So please take your elitest liberal bullshit and shove it
back up your ass where it belongs.

"BUT WEATHERDSTONER, MY NEIGHBOR IS A DOWN-SYNDROME MAN!
DONT YOU FEEL SORRY FOR HIM!?! I DO!! HOW COULD YOU SAY SUCH
THINGS? DO YOU REALLY HATE JEWS?!! YOU ARE A TERRIBLE
PERSON"

I dont care. Grow up and get a life.

i notice that you first say that associating "windowlicker"
with retarded kids has ruined the song for you, and then you
go on to say that it doesn't matter what's in the song, a
chorus of retarded kids or antisemitic sentiments, you're
still going to enjoy the music.

so which is it?

song ruined? or still gonna enjoy it?

no i said the external parts of a song (track title, artwork
etc) wont ruin the song. But now hes saying that the voices
in the song are actually a piss take of retarded people
singing, and that kinda ruins it because I never looked at
it like that before, but now everytime i hear it, i'm gonna
think of this stupid goddamn thread. So the music isn't
ruined, its just the memories i associate with it are

firstly one for my old mate scup-bucket, you say that your

I'm REALLY the first laymen you've encountered that sees
the word "facist" defined like that then may I in all
seriousness and with the upmost respect suggest that you get
out more.

The word is used in that context all the time, be it with
regards to racism, sexism any sort of elitism in fact. You
made a big point of differeniating between the words
"predjudice and "facism", conceding that it might be
"predjuduce" but not "facist", slightly anal IMO but
nethertheless I said "acute" facism, surely "predjudice" is
a form of acute "facism"

You seem like an intelligent guy, I really don't understand
your problem with my "problem" and all the grief you've been
giving me, maybe I'm just pissing on too many peoples
parades here.

O.K. you don't care, but as I said elsewhere some people do
care, it just depends how into the artist and music you are
(as an example Jackson sold 10 million
"Bads pre nonce rumour 2 million "His storys" post nonce
rumour) , peoples reactions to this seem a bit extreme to be
honest, I don't like to think of you all as anal Aphex
fanboys who would still buy it if he just farted into a
microphone but sometimes I wonder, your post did nothing but
confirm this really (is it ME who has to get a life), and
for the record I'm not "an elitist liberal" politically
correct whatever, I'm just a passionate music fan who wanted
to talk about something they found a little bit near the
knuckle in an Aphex track.

technically, after three repetitions of a spelling error it
ceases to be a typo, it means you don't know how to spell
the word. just teasing.

BUT, the lesson in all of this is to not take the preceding
sentence or the rest of this thread particularly serious.

you're a decent and well meaning person who is unfortunately
not particularly articulate picking a battle with a group of
people who are not particularly articulate, not particularly

as for the “dead horse” angle, see my response to Mark,
personal insults are involved here, IMO Aphex became a dead
horse ages ago anyway, his only real use to me nowadays is
if I meet a non electronic music fan and they ask me what
sort of music I like I can say “stuff like Aphex Twin”
and they’ve probably heard of him, if I say Fizzarum,
