Admit it. You ARE disappointed

jeez avart, sometimes I wish there was a slower more chill
version of windowlicker. With less effects even. That's how
solid I think the basics of windowlicker are. It's an
excellent track minus the effects. God, what about that
hiphop scratch mix in the video? Anyway, Im almost 30. I
have been listening to aphex for around 12 years and I
appreciate everything he releases.

Yeah I'm down with your theory DeadEight.. It's not because
it's only a mp3 that we can't judge it. For crying out loud
even if it's only a 48kbps 22.1khz mp3 I can still hear
wether I like THE TRACK or not. I can listen to more than
just the quality... the track on its own has to be nice and
after that we can speak about the quality of the track.

So you don't need crystal clear lossless rips to conclude if
something is a nice or bad track. IMO.

I think ANAL 10 is the greatest thing since the invention of
the lightbulb.

1 2 3 4 are a bit blah blah ..... 3 and 4 has some great
melodies though , they are growing on me.
1 and 2 is very mediocre.

Im not dissapointed in the sence that i thought he would
release more boring mindless drill n bass.

10 shows there is hope. (IMFO)

I'm fucking loving the Analord series of releases. I'm
listening to them all a lot. I'm sure my iPod is fucking
sick of playing them. They're fucking awesome.

I'm a relatively new fan of Aphex. I think the first album I
actually got was DrukQs. I heard Come to Daddy in a club and
found out what it was an did some investigation. Found this
site i think and saw that there was a new album. Ordered it
and fucking loved it. At that point I started getting his
back catalogue and I was so fucking impressed with it. I
just knew I had to get everything.

I'm seeing Analord as a sort of gift to newer fans who
weren't around in the early days. Getting to experience him
releasing at a heavy rate again. That I think it's quality
music as well just adds to it for me.

Yes, I wasted my time reading it.

Something I have noticed on the board of late is that people
are increasingly looking for a collective admission that
something is shit, fake or whatever. It's fucking
rediculous. Have your own opinion on something, be open to
discussion, but don't try to imply to that other people are
trying to fool themselves into liking something, or that
whatever artist is being discussed has lost touch with their
fan base because you don't like this track or that
track. It pathetic and weak. You have the ego to think
your opinion is right over all others but at the same time
you are still looking for agreement from others.

It's boring me stupid

(and I will just sit and wait for people to say this post
was boring etc. etc. boring boring)

Sorry to add more fuel to the fire at this point in the
discusssion (been offline so missed quite a bit of it) but
no matter what people say about the mp3 vs vinyl issue, in
my opinion the difference between the two when it comes to
music like this (maybe it's the analogue production or
possibly a purely psychological effect) is enormous. The
12"s simply sound a lot better and fatter than the mp3's
that are floating around. I'm not saying that it's not
possible to hear whether or not you like the tracks by
hearing the the mp3's, but it's no use complaining about
production quality and such unless you've heard the vinyl
versions. The artwork is also very fitting, can't wait to
hear if there's a major change in direction with 5+6 as the
artwork is very different in style.

Fuck yeah, blasting out Analord on my stereo as opposed to
my headphones is such a fucking contrast. I've listened to
the mp3s more than the vinyl but that's a practicality issue
only. If I could have the vinyl sound with me then I'd do
it.

I'm disappointed by the fact he isn't pushing the boundries
of software and music in general...

But I can't complain about the music, like someone else
said, Analords 1-4 recapture the Aphex magic from '92-94,
but with a slightly more mature, graceful and repectful
approach - beautiful melodies and straight up 808 and 303
programming. Really reminds me of SOSW.

I'm really spoilt by the amount of tracks we're getting, but
I also hope we see a change in style for the remaining
Analords, not because 1-4 are bad, it's just we all know
Ritchie is capable of mastering many different styles and
genres and to see his limiting himself to one is something
of a waste of talent.

Any series of eps that contains a track as good as
Halibut Acid is deserving of legend status.

It seems we have very similar tastes in Analords, Halibut
Acid as I previously said somewhere at some time is the
stand out track off 3 and 3 the way stepping filter was from
1 and 2.

Just having a track name like "Halibut Acid" is something
that should be rewarded :D

It's one of those things, for me it wasn't the most
immediate of tracks to get into, which just seems odd now I
listen to it as I have it repeat... it is classic (I know
that word is overused) classic Twin. It doesn't sound
so much similar to Portreath Harbour, one of my all time
fave Twin tracks, but I get that same kind of "vibe".

I am never going to make rash ranting proclamations about
music again, I need to listen properly for a week at least
before saying anything. I might need a fortnight with LCC
but, I'll get there.

the numbers of selfish comment on what rdj should do
to please you is absurdly high.

STOP expecting something from a man who is known for NOT
releasing what people expect...
listen to it, juge it, like it or don't, speak about it and
all, but PLEASE stop with all the stupid comments about
losing his touch, not being innovative, being lazy,
releasing old tracks, capable of so much more, i prefered
windowlicker,...

as always there are peoiple who like it and people who
don't...
do you know how many people liked his tracks back in the
early 90's? not soooo much as you would think, it was very
underground music dubbed noisy pop-tech by a vast majority
of people

my point is that there are many, MANY, people who like rdj
because it is/was cool or trendy, who only
like some of his tracks, and maybe that now he releases
music without any form of compromise on his tastes, people
are not liking it which his completly normal....

i always was amazed at the amount of people "liking" rdj
because it is/was cool or trendy and never
liking anything remotely similar to his material by another
artists, maybe now that he's releasing non-compromised music
again they realise they don't like what he is all about but
rather some of his most poppy songs...

back when i heard classics i loved it instantly but i was
hearing things not present, i was buying the whole genius
and best artist and all that bullshit about him, now for
analord i know exactly why i like it, it is just damn
good/lush acid music made with a love for the music and the
machines that shines trough the recordings and makes me
smile each time.

stop trying to find a revolution in music everytime you hear
something new...

the only reason i brought up the mp3s sounding like shit to
the vinyl is because most ppl have my analord3/4 mp3 rips
and after listening to them for a while then oging back to
the vinyl , i know i didnt do a very good job.

that's all.

Not disappointed at all. Really enjoying them, and i was
listening to RDJ's music from '91 onwards so these are a
real treat for me, haven't heard 3 and 4 just yet (got them
ready to play today tho) but number 2 is well chilled out,
takes me back to some great days '88 acid mixed with '91 rdj
ambient...

after all is said and done and you have all 12+ releases,
you'll be able to judge it properly and as a complete whole
rather than bits and pieces and then likely see it the same
way as I already do: RDJ is not looking to blow your mind
with these releases, merely producing lush synths & looking
into his past to present the really early Analog style and
gradually progress to a more modern-Aphex like style we are
used to...I think people put RDJ on a pedestal for no
fucking reason & expect something they're never gonna get.
Like someone sort of said, complaining about it now is a
little premature or at least give someone the benefit of the
doubt before complaining about a bunch of free downloads.
