these 2 tracks are from a collection of hundreds of other
'all analogue' tracks that rich has recorded. Mike P said it
on his messgae board.

Author: Jess
Date: 09-14-04 19:08

Luke played me some of the hundreds of tracks earmarked for
this Analord series and they are beautiful. More like SOSW &
CW. But really good clear production. Lots of acid lines,
but also a lot of melody & pads... Mostly analog(ue): 303,
606, 808, 909 and his collection of synths (a nice bit of
chunky doepfer acid) but a few with breaks too.

two tracks? omgosh this already gets an 'f' for effort.

Seriously i cant believe that in a 100 post thread i am the
first to be disappointed. How completely worthless.

Anyways i am glad he took the time to release something that
i am going to download later.

peace

I was thinking that for ages.... well since it was posted
it, it must be... Caustic Window. But what one I don't know.

Virgin, dear, this is the first release in a series, or so
it seems, hence the collector's case / cheapy looking photo
album.

But that's the thing. Aphex's goal isn't memetic
replication. There are perhaps even deliberate things built
in to discourage "being cool" by letting others know you
listen to it. It's just plain awkward to pull out a cd with
a bearded grinning feluptuous supermodel to share with any
conventional music listeners.

thats the best part about it. I am completely insulted with
two tracks. at least take the time to mae a full album. six
tracks would have been fine but as a follow up to smojface
this is nothing.

"but you've never heard it"

whatever. i am disappointed which is like how i am the only
one that is. I'll still listen to it. This is more or less
for people that collect the stuff. Not for a casual guy like
me.

That's sort of my opinion of records too. Although autechre
made a nice comment about how records are physical things
where you just need a needle, not all wrapped up in binary
computerized complexity or something along those lines.
Eventually people just transfer the record tracks to places
like soulseek anyway though. Hell, maybe.. I'm pretty sure
in fact.. the "idm subculture" or whatever is too small to
have huge demand as a group, just as individuals... so,
aphex could just put the tracks on soulseek himself, but
then release ONLY 50 records or something and then auction
them off. Individuals would probably bid quite high when
competing with eachother for them.

i don't think he'll have problems selling that...he's by far
the best selling idm artist, and people buy everything he
does (me including). and it's more profitable to release 5
records with 2 tracks, than 1 record with 10 tracks...he
just needs the money - like we all do, and i don't mind that
one bit :)

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2004-09-14 21:34 [#01335149]

I wonder if he regrets becoming famous. Becomming famous is
often irreversable... and for some doomed innocent unlucky
people like the olsen twins (whose concept of reality must
be quite ill...) it is DEFINATELY irreversible. At least
aphex can shave his head or something. Plus he's not that
famous.

Ha ha, yeah those come 2 daddy and windowlicker singles
totally packed a double money punch. Especially
windowlicker, 3 tracks! But when I heard them at the time I
thought more that there was so much brillinance packed in
compared to conventional music, that the length of the
albums was irrelevant. Personally I'd have paid 50 times as
much probably.. I'd pay 500 dollars for come2daddy if paying
was the only way to get it.

I really wonder what the highest price someone would pay for
these analord albums if he only made 10 copies and auctioned
them off. 10,000 dollars?

I could affort 10 percent of one copy unless you count my

most of you guys don't get it do you...

"180g Audiophile Vinyl Pressing"
CD quality can't even come close to this!!
let's not even speak about mp3.
btw i hate people who download their music in mp3. not
because it's piracy or anything but because it's not hearing
the music in full.
very disrespectfull to the music and the artist who spent a
lot of effort on the sound.

if you truly care about music get yourself a good turntable,
a good element and a great phono preamp (and a good amp,
good wires, good speakers and place those speakers in the
right place in the room etc)
if you don't have teurntable+phono preamp allready
(preferably don't use the phono preamp on you mixer) this
release is a good reason to do so now. and you'll probably
be blown away at how real/pure and great etc it sounds.

as for the music style, SOSW / CW, i love it :)
this all sounds like him getting really serieus about his
music again.
returning to analogue (ms20, fenix, cs80 i hope), returning
to not showing off and just making the most beautifull music
only he can make.
and this defenately isn't commercial/about the money... damn
if he wanted to go commercial he'd go make top40 music..
this doesn't sounds like a top40 release now does it?

On the other hand MP3 is good for listening to music on the
move and on a computer. For a proper listen though Vinyl and
CD are unbeatable. I'm glad it's audiphile vinyl. That'll
sound AWESOME!

Vinyl can suck shit out of my diseased cock and spit it
around my gaping asshole. Personally I couldn't give a fuck
about all this Aphex monkeying around, either release an
album and stop trying to be cool and clever or just give up.
Tarting up mediocre releases with marketing strategies turns
me off. And the name is piss poor. Get it off slsk the only
option. OH WAIT I MISSED HALF THE MUSIC OH NO

thats stupid - releasing just two tracks and tryin to make
so much noise about it- is he too lazy to record another
full album ?

anyway. im not going to throw my money to his pocket,

and i feel sad for those who are willing to pay more that 5
pounds for two tracks and some piece of material with AFX
logo on it. thats sad, how the package of music is better
than music itself nowadays.

1 then ?

haha AFX fans would even buy simple package with his logo

Hello, these are 2 of hundreds of tracks. Confirmed by Luke
and Mike. Not too lazy. Lets see you make anything as good
as him. Incidentaly, Rich got a good trader report on
Analogue heaven. He bought a roland midi to CV and lots of
other gear. The copy cat artists are gunna have to spend a
fortune to follow him.

If there are so many tracks why doesn't he do a full album?
It seems to me that the only purpose in a long series of 2
track 12''s is because by the end people will have spent a
lot more money on it than they would have for a single
release. Still, you can't fault them for wanting to make
extra money..

well, no matter how good or bad he is, i still
think that releasing only 2 tracks is stupid. like horsey
said, if he has hundreds of tracks. - where are they
?

whats the purpose of releasing 2 tracks ? i mean, 13
minutes of music, and what ? another months for anotehr 2
tracks ? thats simply stupid.
