Move to Key_S's place for a while.
we could write poetry together
and perhaps do some drunken posting.

who knows?

suicide is NEVER a solution. yeah I know it sounds cliché
but that's the way it is and not different.

suicide is for cowards, and leaving people who do really
love you behind just like that is plain wrong.

everyone has good things and bad things in their lives. you
just have to focus on the good things. you are posting on a
music message board so i assume you at least have some
interest in music.

when you are feeling shitty, listen to good music. people
here probably have loads of suggestions for music to fit
your mood. for me, its Boards of Canada for pretty much any
mood.

and, not to sound condesending but,

as you grow older, you will look back on your past and your
troubles are realize how silly a lot of them are.

once you are out of school, most of those people that used
to make you feel shitty, will be gone from your life for
good.

Depression = get help!
I don't mean to scare you or anything, but it won't just
fade away by itself like a runny nose; it gets worse.

My depression comes from the feeling that I've failed
myself.

I don't know which would feel worse; that you've let
yourself down, or that you've let others down?

that IM afraid of taking pills/medication.

medication can work wonders.

if your depression is a chemical imbalance (like mine) it
makes sense to take meds... fixing a chemical error in your
body.

if your depression is based on life, perhaps it is better to
not use meds.

but, its different in each situation... sometimes it might
be the thing you need, to pull yourself together, and then
once you do, slowly go off. But know what? No one here is a
doctor... so see one. Even if not to get meds, just to get
professional opinions. (remember, there are psychologists,
and psychiatrists. The latter, is the one that prescribes
medicine)

Music is a great medicine indeed...

and probably the worst thing you could have done here was
let people know you are a girl. I hate to say it... but ive
seen it happen time and time again... girls get treated
differently here. Lots of nerdy, reclusive, horny guys, who
will just annoy you with thier immaturity. Try to ignore
them. They are worthless jackasses.

How do you find out if it's a chemical error or a life based
one? I mean, can you test for chemical alterations in the
brain and verify it as a problemsource?

obviously there's no way to test for the other option.

Honestly, I don't know.

I know that mine is, because my family has a long history of
depression. Almost everyone on my mothers side actually...
going back many generations.

Additionally, the same meds seem to work for the majority of
us (there a good number of different types of meds, and
people respond to them differently. For my family, Zoloft
seems to be the most effective)

So I guess one of the key factors in figuring it out, is
knowing your family history.

well quite frankly, if you refuse to even see a doctor and
attempt to bring some resolve to the issue, then you have no
right to bitch about your depression.

That makes sense! My family has a history of mental
disorders/depressions on my fathers side, so I guess that
would make my depression primarily a chemical based one.

In addition, I've been doing a lot of drugs since I was
13/14 and suffered some trauma through the loss of my
brother ten years ago, and in the past three years, three
more family members have died tragically and unexpected.

I'm currently on Efexor and they seem to help a lot.

Fuck!

seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist won't to wonders in a
snap. It takes time. For me, medication + pshychologist =
good effect, but that's not neccessarily effective for all
people.

I take it I'll have to go see my psychologist for at least
one year, at least, maybe two, maybe more. who knows? Mental
conditions are serious issues.

thats the point I was going to get at...

you dont say you want a physical fit body, and only go to
the gym once.

And the mind is a much more complex thing... it takes lots
of time...

well if thats the case, find a new doctor.

there are many of them out there... find the one thats right
for you.

I would suggest perhaps finding a female doctor, so its
easier to relate, and feel comfortable.

Just because you go to someone once, doesnt mean you are
bound to them. If you dont like them, try someone else.

Speaking of which! hehe!
My psychologist is a 35 year old female from Uganda! She's
really pleasant and helpful. We have a great connection and
the chemistry between us is great!

It's essential to have a good connection with your shrink.
Otherwise you might as well stare at the celing while
pouring out your inner self

:)

and yeah, thats another thing that tells me its chemical...
because seriously, I've had a real good life... nothing that
warrents depression. Its something I try to remember when Im
feeling down... that my life is good, and I should fucking
suck it up, because alot of people have it much, MUCH
harder.

yeah, Im actually in the process of finding a new one.

The doctor I got when I went to college, I just got, so I
could continue taking my meds... but now I feel like I want
to actually meet semi regularly maybe once a week, or every
other week, just to talk... and I had no connection with
this one, what so ever.

Unfortunately, Im also a procrastinator, and after calling
the last one, telling her I wasnt coming any more... I am
yet to find a new one... and I have enough meds to last
probably 20 more days max.

So I gotta find someone ASAP, when I get back to school.

Zoloft withdraw is FUCKED up.
