you have to talk to whoever makes you feel comfortable, and
some people have a horrible aversion to shrinks.

milkwoman:: listen, I dont want to be harsh at all, I
understand all to well what your feeling inside and it does
hurt a lot. It feels just like yesterday that I was going
through what you are. hook me up with your MSN name if you
got one and when im done for the day ill try and chat ya up
ok? Its the best I can do from this far away!

In the meantime try to find things about your life that you
can actually look at or think of differently than these
things that depress you. Even in my dismal existance I have
things that make me happy.

friend, talk to a real friend.

i was quite depressed 2 years ago...i then somehow managed
to get over that and now im no exactly happy, but i can get
along with myself.

you say people think of you like...why care what they think
of you? i never pay attention to what people think of me or
say to me so i have no reason to be upset about it :)

as suggested before, try find something that would interest
you, it helped a lot when i started doing what i enjoy...

man..... medication is SHIT! for depression I think, I mean
sometimes yes it can help like tragedy says, but most of the
time its just a REALLY easy way out. and it doesnt even work
in the ways it should, it just medicates you to hell, which
aint good.

the main problem with meds is that theyre misprescribed a
lot of the time by lazy doctors who dont want to help work
through peoples problem.
they work for some people.
but theyre given to others as a quick fix, when really there
may be better solutions.

you say you don't trust medication.
1. why not?
2. because of personal experiences?
3. what have you got to loose anyway?

I'd say give it a try if you haven't already.

or, if your previous meds didn't work, try a different kind.
medication is just as individual as any person. very often
you'll have to try different meds to get the desired
effect.

besides, if you've been into drugs, you've got
nothing to worry about when it comes to medication; know
what I mean..

meds dont solve the issue, they just supress the symptoms.

it's not as bad as suicide, but its still not confronting
things head-on.

it places too much emphasis on chem imbalances, and not
enough on resolving traumas.

offline nlogax from oh, you must be the brains (Norway) on 2004-01-07 12:14 [#01021992]
Points: 4653 Status: Regular | Followup to tibbar: #01021984

Yes of course, tibbar. that's why you always should use
medication in conjunction with other treatment methods. It's
better to have suppresed thoughts of suicide and get the
proper professional help, than to be a suicidal maniac on
the loose with no back up or help whatsoever.

chemicals solve nothing, but they can be a crucial helping
factor in the whole process.

i agree meds can aid serious serious conditions, but i think
they are overused. im no psychiatrist, but i dont think this
girls problem is a mental chemistry issue, its more an issue
of finding emotional balance and harmony with the world
aroudn her.

I agree - doctors prescribe meds too soon during
(pre-)diagnose.

My general opinion is that you might as well try it, so that
you can rule it out as a possible help/"solution".
Especially if you've been feeling blue (or whatever) for a
longer period of time. It's perfectly normal to feel a bit
down now and then, and that it might last a few weeks, but
when it lasts for several weeks and months, something is
clearly not right.

I take antidepressant every day (double dose), and I gotta
say, if I didn't, I'd be a hell of alot more miserable than
I am now. But then again, I get professional help too.

Milkwoman maybe I'm suspicious but I think that you are
joking.
If you really want to kill you why you are afraid of pills
like prosac or something like that?
If i wonted to kill myself I wouldn't be scared of them, at
worst they would kill me.
If I'm wrong then I hope you understand that I didn't want
to be unkind.I just have a serious problem with trusting
other people. But somehow I manage to live with that.

wow i even have time to read this crap while at a friends
house, or here at my exjob, .. anyways,

pulsar: I think you just dont understand english very well.

pills are something maybe not to be scared of, but wary!
because they are not good for you, and they dont really fix
whats wrong for real, they dont fix your perspective, they
dont make your problems go away, they just fuck you up
inside, its not a good thing to trust yourself to medication
