I'm really sorry to hear that Phobia...I don't trust ANY
hosting company and do weekly backups of joyrex.com and my
SQL databases just to make sure.

Perhaps you should find a cheaper/better hosting company?
Any company that would charge YOU for THEIR mistake is shit
in my book.

You could use who I'm using now (I dunno about the
conversion rates though for Swed currency/vs US dollars
though.

You can check them out at:

http://www.cwihosting.com

I use the 30USD per month package, which gives you 1.2GB
storage, 30GB bandwidth, etc. It's a good deal (for me) and
might be for you. Hope you get all your hard work back.

Is the MB still alive due to it being MySQL based?

joyrex: that's really cheap for such a nice
specification. unfortunately, swedish webhosting companies
are quite expensive. i have signed a contract with my
current webhost so i have to stick with them for a year.
performance, however, is very good, but they have gone too
commercial... "charge that fucker - he's stealing our
bandwidth".

that's life, obviously.

This is getting worse... They are using the same tape for
the backup every night which means that the "correct" file
has been overwritten by the empty file during the night.

...just found out that I can get a backup from March 19th.
Better than nothing, but lots of news will be gone. I'll try
to restore them as well later on.

this is time consuming indeed.

god, i remember this in my purely lurker days and it was
painful. i used to download aphextwin.nu as txt files from
the library on a stack of floppies but this even forced me
over to joyrex.com until i realised it was awash with
tossers. tbh i can't quite believe this site is up, dubturbo
fiasco and all
