yeah it's definitely more immediate than either exai or
elseq. gonk steady one is my fave so far, maybe even the
most instantly appealing ae since untilted. when they start
playing with more revealed melody and what almost sounds
like feedback around the 13 minute mark, hot damn

fellas are doing

I'm only at track 3 but this is fucking balls. The 12xLP
boxset is ordered. They should sell a shelf also.

"going steady one" first minute is insane. I hope it goes on
for the 21 min left.
Crazy stuff on this session really! Incredible.

I feel like I heard something completely different the first
couple of times, now I listen to it (the same, the hell out
of it) and it's wondrous.

Why do I always doubt you Ae and then have to come crawling
back? WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME?

I find myself listening to Elseq now and wondering how the
lads stole in and replaced the files, which I've seemingly
never heard before?! sneaky bastards

Yup, they do that.

I love the menacing science fiction beast that is ‘l3

loose is oh so very sweet.

The main, monotonous scraping sound in gonk steady one
reminds me of that walking box droid from Star Wars. Which
is called Gonk, incidentally

these new songs sink in properly

Gonk will always be "Power Droid" to me, I am sorry if that
upsets Ae or anybody else. But good spot there, Nelton!

I agree about the release schedule being a good
thing

Loving all the tracks, even bqbqbq (reminds me of a track

offline RussellDust on 2018-04-12 14:57 [#02548844]

For me Session 1 > elseq and the live stuff.

More immediate, lots of harmonies, it’s just really
pleasing. I started off by just liking two tracks, then
four, and now I’m fan of them all. Starting to rem
melodies as well.

Dub at the edge of the Abyss, I am feeling here. I'm MC-ing
some improvised, Dante and Milton-inspired lyrics to it as
well, if the lads want to get in touch and work on a

Three a lot of coming together at watmm. You do get the ones
who always complain though. Best one I read was that the NTS

Rob mentioned in an interview that their music was always
initially made for headphones. It’s certainly my favourite
way of enjoying their stuff. Great on speakers too though.

Thanks Russ. Though that isn't to imply I'm "more into the
earlier stuff". Like many of the contributors to the "chat
feed" available on the NTS Session page, I am at pains to
point out I don't really like their melodic or ambient
pieces, and much prefer the longer, frenetic,
uncompromisingly brutalist stuff.

NTS is so fucking good so far.

I posted that link because I find it odd that music lovers
freqy, hyperflake, and umbroman1+1+1 haven’t posted in
here. Ok adidasgirl did, but still. I don’t get it. This
isn’t exactly hardcore music. And it encapsulates so many
elements I thought these guys loved. Ah well. Mine.

Just dropping in to say hi to the old timers. Listened to
the first two sessions last night. Not sure what to make of
this direction. It makes me kind of miss the days when we
could expect a concise 70 minute declaration of genius on a
CD every couple of years. But it's good to hear them still
pushing the boundaries. Long live ae

The direction? I feel that since Exai we’ve been leaning
towards this, and that it’s far less punishing than Elseq.

I'd say the direction started with the Quaristice Versions
(with Oversteps now looking like a weird anomaly). From Exai
onwards we've gone from 2 hours to 4 hours and now to 8
hours. Still loving it, but I'm hoping they still have an
Untilted or a Confield in them.

It seems maybe sorting 70 mins of music from tons of stuff
became a tedious process. I don’t mean to sound
dismissive: but we’re getting more tracks and you’re
complaining; are you maybe complaining about your attention
span? I prefer this to Elseq already, but with Elseq I’d
make albums within. An hour and a half of my fave tracks at
that moment. I’m sure if they had gone through the process
of selecting a CD’s worth track from NTS, you’d love
it.

I do get ya, man. But I do think we’re the problem,
we’ve been so used to a format that we panic when it
changes.
