Hello everyone! Another old timer dropping in. Nice to see
some enthusiastic ppl still hanging around here. Just wanted
to say I think these first two sessions are absolutely
amazing. Seeing the onesix live show in Stockholm was a very
strong experience, probably the best gig I’ve ever seen,
and I remember hoping that they would go more in that
direction, and it feels like they have. The second session
is even better than the first, but I might change my mind
about that of course. Found that comment about them breaking
in and replacing your ae mp3s amusing, happened to me so
many times.

Hey Gonzola, good to see you. Did you know that the new user
registration and password recovery are both broken? We're
down to about ten regulars. Do you know if there's anyone
who remembers how to program the board, and if so could you
get word to them? TIA

Hi fleetmouse! I didn’t know of those problems. Phobs and
tunemx knows how to program the board for sure, I never knew
how to code unfortunately. I can send him a message and ask
him tho.

I remember in the old days of the CD era that I wished some
ae tracks would just go on and on, but of course there’s
only so much room on a CD. And now I sometimes wish they
would deliver a nice, compact track with a little bit more
composition to it! Actually dummy casual pt 2 fits that
bill, what a great bonkers track. Anyway, still I much
prefer this new format. 2 more sessions to go!

Don't think it's to do with my attention span, I've been
through both sessions in a sitting twice. It's awesome
stuff, but clearly not as focused. I wouldn't say I'm
complaining, there is absolutely no reason to complain. Just
saying I hope there is still material in the future with all
the fat trimmed off - 'less is more' with the
near-perfection of Draft etc.

True. I wish XMAS_EVET 10 was an hour long with the ending
stretched out for 50 mins. Grass is always greener I
suppose.

What's with this reasonable talk? What's with this
gentlemanly "agree to disagree" bit? Where's the withering
"The 21st Century must be a lonely and bewildering place
for you, you retrograde old fuck. You clearly never
understood Autechre, ever! This music isn't for you. Wake
up, you're dead!
"?

You know, that sort of thing.

IMO they have built interactive music software that is so
advanced it's like a gundam mech suit and they can spend all
day demolishing buildings, so why would they want to edit
that down

Let me be at pains to point out that I'm all about
punishing riddimz and if I get one whiff of a melody,
a repeated motif or an ambient track, I'll put my boot
through my router and send NTS the bill.

RuzzDust (and indeed anybody), tell me your edited down
elseq album, please. I dip in and out of it but, post-NTS,
it's just not in the same league (at the moment that is. We
all know with Ae we'll go back in 5 years and go
"AHHHHhhhhhh, I get it *now*")

My selection from some time ago:

1. pendulu hv moda
2. foldfree casual
3. latentcall
4. spTh
5. freulaeux

If the whole thing was six hours of freulaeux I would've
been happy too! But yeah I guess those are the more melodic
tracks, so be warned

I was listening to elyc6 0nset from elseq 2 the other day.
Such a bewildering track! It starts out all right, bobbin'
along nicely, but then near the end my brain fails and I
just want to listen to Shania Twain

Hehe thanks for that, I'll give that list a go. I am of
course joking about not liking the melodic or ambient works.
I was just clumsily parodying the kind of comment you see
where people feel they really have to let you know that they
like The Difficult Music and they've no time for
The Easy Music.

RD - That Video - it's really good, goes really well. IT
KIND OF MAKES SENSE.

Waiting for the WAVs after the show to listen, but it’s
fun reading comments on here and at the place we shall not
name.

So far it’s more “clubby”, yes? I dunno because
suddenly after 15 everyone over there started going “uh
oh” “oh fuck” “fuck me” etc.

This particular track is pretty nasty. Dark. I wouldn't
really describe the first half hour as clubby

Some of them, not all, far from it, come across as a it
arrogant.

They’re far less miserable than us in general though,
enjoy events, and take part. Still not signing up though.

I remember ages ago they did a mock xlt thread, there was a
qrter, a dog belch, I think earhtleakage, hobbes etc and
they would mimick our style. I was honoured really.

thanks for the info

But I do think we’re the problem,
we’ve been so used to a format that we panic when it
changes.
yup, that's it

and IF in 2 years time they release just a 15 minutes EP and
nothing else ae listeners will go "whaaaaa.....???" lol

yeah maybe just mixing and creating and coding is so much
fun compared to the tedious process of "editing and
selecting for a 1 or 2 cd release" that they decided they
just don't have time and/or heart for it. they just do what
they want. you like it ? good. you don't ? whatever. that's
artistic freedom of some sort. as long as it pays the bills
and they don't have to get a regular job it's great.

besides what's the difference if I loop a fav ae track that
is 5 minutes long for 4 or 5 times ? these days Ae do the
job for me, they just release 15, 20, 30+ minutes long
tracks lol THANKS AE.

offline belb from mmmmmmhhhhzzzz!!! on 2018-04-19 18:59 [#02549697]

this way of doing things gives the tracks time to breathe
and grow without having to conform to a rigid 80 minutes.
it's fucking great. listening to the catchup stream right
now, sounds like ae deconstructing chiptune. the track
before that with the beatless drone might be my fave yet of
these sessions
