ha ha ha, according to wikipedia, the fattest one serves as
the show's comic relief.

haha, is that really the same guy? i thought he was but
though, nah, he can't be the same character twice...

I thought the Polar Bear was from the Dharma zoological
facility thing where they were adapting the animals to live
outside of their natural habitat, or something. Same as the
fossilised polar bear with the Dharma tag found in the
desert. Though there was a polar bear in the comic, whether
he "created" it or summond it (like he summoned the birds to
fly and kill themselves against the window) is... you know,
one of those Lost things.

I think Jack's dad is really there, we don't know whether he
actually really died at all, or whether the island revived
him, plus he's connected The Others/The Island in some way
(I believe). John's dad may have been kidnapped and brought
to the island rather than just appearing. Kate's horse seems
to be something that follws her rather than her making it
appear. Again it could be from the animal research ... bit.
Or indeed the "Monster" which manifests itself as different
things. And I think someone would of subconsciously created
a hovercraft or jet plane at some point.

This series is brilliant and just makes me cross that most
of Season 2 and the first third of Season 3 was full of such
filler and dragging of heels.

**THEORY**
When Ben says he has a spy on the ship, I bet it's fucking
Michael back to start moaning again saying no one
understands what it's like to be him and what he's been
through.

Funny because the fatty one in xltronic (you) also servers
as the comic relief.

thats another totally viable theory at this time.

i like the idea of it being michael on the island, altho he
would have had to be captured by the others again because he
never really got a chance to interact with ben (who i would
assume would be the only one conniving enough to strike such
a deal with him) other than freeing him and then ben giving
him the boat.

but who the fuck knows, the great thing about this show is
trying to decypher whats actually going on with as little
information as they allow. its like one of these kinds of logic puzzles.

so, no michael on the boat... yet.

but goddamn, the island runs at a different speed of time??

also im totally liking daniel. that little tidbit at the end
made up for the pretty lame
'iloveyouiloveyouiloveyouiloveyou' sequence with desmond and
penny.

other than that, fucking AWESOME episode. i am really
hoping the crew can deliver the remaining 8 episodes for the
season in time, as projected by Damon Lindelof. and im sure
the writers have had tons of time to think about new ideas
for the show during the strike - thank god its over, even
tho the writers still got kinda screwed.

I'm very much liking the way in season 4 they cover in one
episode what they would have milked over 10 episodes in
season two. Desmond's great, whenever he is. He always looks
startled, even as a monk.

oh yeah, and did you notice who the actor was that played
the other guy time shifting?

none other than the fucking plague! (from the movie hackers)

haha, also on second watching im finding some fun little
details.

first, i think daniel is also time shifting - the doctor on
the boat said, 'daniel cant even help himself,' and he also
mentions at oxford that he exposes himself to the radiation
10 times a day, and extended radiation exposure is
apparently necessary to start time shifting.

also, the item that penelope's father is bidding on when
desmond approaches him is a journal from a man aboard the
black rock, the slave ship with the dynamite on the island.

also, im guessing it was ben's mole that sabotaged the radio
equipment on the boat, whoever that turns out to be.

nice insights

just finished watching myself.

amazing episode!!!!!

i wonder if there's a link with desmond and his looking into
the future seeing charlie dying and his other kind of
consciousness time travelling...

offline Raz0rBlade_uk on 2008-03-01 15:20 [#02180878]
Points: 12540 Status: Addict | Show recordbag

also, maybe that journal is being auctioned off again in the
future and that's why they need the 3.2 million dollars?

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2008-03-01 15:25 [#02180886]

ive gotta wonder tho, how do they film the
flashback/forwards with the different hair styles.

i.e. desmonds crew cut in the army - did they cut his hair
just for that ep and he's just been wearing a wig the rest
of the time? i'll be sad if his mane turns out to be fake.

offline Raz0rBlade_uk on 2008-03-01 15:27 [#02180888]
Points: 12540 Status: Addict | Followup to hedphukkerr: #02180886 | Show recordbag

well they could have filmed those ages ago you never know.
there is a very slight possibility that they maybe might
have known this was going to happen in the story. it's a
very slim chance though. but i'd rather believe that than
know his elegant locks are fake. oh god the humanity

i believe they really do know, to some degree, what the
ultimate outcome of the story is going to be - on the season
1 dvd, jj abrams (altho maybe it was one of the producers)
talks about sitting down and sketching out 5 seasons of
material, and considering thats about how long the series is
going to last (three more truncated seasons ~ 2 full
seasons), it would seem he could have been truthful.

as for filming that far ahead of time (considering he's had
that hair for the whole time he's been on the show) i'd
doubt it. maybe they just edit it out with cgi?? :P

#1, grahf, thats hilarious.

#2 i watched the first 20 minutes or so, but the hd2 version
of the torrent got all fucked up so im downloading another
copy to be completed in 10 minutes.

but from what i saw, this could turn out to be the first
stinker of the new season - juliette just isn't that cool of
a character unless she's helping reveal things about the
others (which, i guess must happen at the end of the ep)

also, whats up with her big wavy mane? she was way hotter
with the straight hair and stuff.

bah, i was right, total dud of an episode.

how the fuck can they have ben "tell" john who's him man on
the boat (i do think its michael now) and not show us.
fucking tease.

seriously, like they had to make a whole ep about how ben's
in love with juliette - anyone with half a brain who saw the
third season already knew that.

Totally agreed. Last night's episode was retreading a lot
of ground. It wasn't horrible like some season two style
fluff, but it was probably the biggest go-nowhere episode so
far this season.

I still liked it more than the season four premier, though.
All in all this season has been entertaining. And the two
eps before this last one were awesome.
