Platoon is my favourite. And the first 45 minutes of Full
Metal Jacket.

Hamburger Hill, Saving Private Ryan and the second half of
FMJ, I do not like

is Jacob's Ladder considered a war movie? it does revolve
around the Vietnam war. if not, it's definitely one of the
scariest movies i've ever seen.

My list is identical to Phresch's except for The Thin Red
Line. For some reason that movie bugs the shit outa me.

i fucking LOVE Apocalypsy Now!!!!!!!!

holy shit i love the whole thing... the new version,
re-released in theatres, with the added scenes (or scenes
previously cut out) was good.. in one of the 'new' scenes
they run into this old french plantation in the middle of
the jungle...
and marlon brando was SO cool in it...
ooh, another fav. part was when the surfing scene... :)
"i love the smell of napolm in the morning... it smells
like... victory"
shit that movie was SO good

i recently saw full metal jacket, and i loved the first half
(esp. the drill sargent)
second half was alright... the box said "best war movie
ever' - some guy" but i dont think so...

..appocolypse now gets my vote

The original Appocolypse Now is a million times better than
redux. There is just so much stuff in redux that was
originaly cut for a reason.

''Apocalypsy Now''

That really made me laugh out loud! :-D That is a fucking
GREAT flick, though.

My fave is probably Saving Private Ryan... boring
predictable choice, I know... I just love that movie so
much.

I've never seen Full Metal Jacket... I really need to.
What's so great about it?

Just saw Platoon on TBS the other night, actually... that
one is pretty good, too. Those Sheens really like their war
movies, eh?

three good reasons to watch FMJ:

1. It's a Kubrick movie
2. Sgt. Hartman
3. asdsdasfga.

I hate TBS they hack every movie they play into itty bitty
peices of Happy Happy Joy Joy filtered crap. Well at least
they did last time I watched it (about 2 years ago)

though I generally despise War movies..Apocalypse Now is an
exception..mainly because it's so much more than a war
movie. Jacobs Ladder one of my all time favourite movies
but I dont really consider it a war movie. The rest is just
Jinoistic propaganda..especially Black Hawk Down...how's
getting your butt kicked..and escaping with you tails
between your legs a freaking triumph?..anyone care to tell
me?

Is it "Dreams" by Akira Kurosawa? One of his dreams is about
war.

The Rambo I,II,III are cool I like that part when he wastes
a helicopter with a bow.
