sunny cruise: excellent! Like megaman only more intersting
beats than megaman. bass notes should be louder

freeway heat: excellent! eventually got monotonous.

hillside ridge: crashed my browser thus making me have to
type the above again.

Hypothetical Q: If I were going to download these into a
folder to listen further, and I usually name those folders
the name of the release, what would you recommend I name
this?

Suggestion: [SPAM]a couple of tracks

Sunny Cruise: Hahah, it makes me think of music from
Japanese games! Love the instrument for the chords.. is it
just a saw?

Freeway Heat: Not too fond of it, but you could think about
increasing the volume of the melody slightly and decreasing
the drums a bit...

Hillside ridge: Same goes for this on the technical side.
It's better than freeway, though. Also, vary the kicks a bit
more.

Zilog Stax D: This could be the soundtrack for Total Recall:
The Game.

Milky Way: I like this. It's got that happy and sad going at
the same time thing...

Synovox Femibot: The drums get annoying quickly, and the
melodies don't help much either. It gets better a bit after
halfway, but first of all I can't tell if it's just because
I "got used to it," or if it actually gets better, and
secondly, I wouldn't be likely to get that far if I was just
a casual listener.

Vällkommen til smogworld: DNB. Not much more to say.

Mutation Station: I like the dub-ish vibe, and the melody
instrument, the way you use it.

That's as far as I get right now.

i've always used renoise for sequencing, for as long as its
been around.
before that i used fast tracker II and mad tracker, but they
would'nt allow you to hook stuff up via midi.

I'm glad you didn't say fruity loops because that shit is
starting to piss me right the hell off. I concur that
trackers rule, and all your tracks are original with lots of
creative freedom. I should check renoise I guess.

pdt: i think i used the software ms20 (because it was made
on my laptop)
but i don't know where the module is so i can't give you
exact details..

wmw: absolutely! it gives you a whole lot of creative
freedom and once you get the hang of it, you can work with
pretty complex stuff, especially if you program on double
bpm rate.

I think I might keep fruity loops's's's collection of wav
files, but sell fruity loops itself and get renoise. I
seriously need an upgrade from modplug tracker.

oh you're going to be happy!
the leap from modplug tracker to renoise is said to be like
entering a treasure world of inspuration class 1.

I still can't get into renoise but until Steinberg give me a
proper Cubase for Vista I am trying to use it...but I just
can't get into it.

The music is ace by the way!

With renoise, can you select a bunch of notes (say, c,d and
e) and lower or raise them one note IN THE SCALE (ie up to
d, e, and f... instead of c#, d# and f) I always wanted
something that would do that.

Also can you select a block of stuff that is effects column
stuff ONLY, then paste this ON TOP of some notes (ie.
combining them with the notes when you paste, instead of
cutting all the notes and pasting only the effects where the
notes used to be).

Here's a list of trackers:

just bought renoise:

'To protect the software and you, it is encrypted using your
personal data. Do NOT spread this software. If you do you
will violate the license agreement terms, and spread
personal information about yourself!'

That's fucked up; glad I gave them a fake name/address/etc.
Not that I care about sharing it but don't really like them
doing that, especially telling me only after I bought it.

Piracy would kill Renoise.

You share it and your account goes, so no upgrades etc.
How did you give them a fake name/address etc.? How did you
pay for it?

I just put 'mr poo' in 'poo town' or something when they
asked for it and it worked (I figured they'd just email the
download so why would they need any information other than
an email?), and I put 'no shipping address required' in the
actual payment.

Ah, I see.

hehe, they seem to be pretty good guys anyway.
Is it still the 1 whole version upgrade? I bought it about
2 years ago and all the upgrades are still free and they are
constantly adding new and better stuff.

I am really impressed overall, I just spent so much time
using Cubase that I can't get into the tracker way of
working.

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2007-06-17 05:53 [#02094355]

Right now it's 1.8. Their was a prompt saying it's now a
single full version so you no longer have to download the
demo then upgrade from that.
I don't like how you can't just click in any row/column and
add data there. You seem to have to double click in a spot
to add data there but single clicks make a lighter orange
bar appear so I'm constantly entering data in the wrong spot
intending to do so at the solid orange bar. And if you want
to enter volume data you have to press the right arrow key a
few times instead of clicking there as far as I know.
Tutorials for these things are terrible (flash too). I spent
an hour trying to figure out the simple task of entering
anything at all (turns out the 'record' button needs to be
down, unlike modplug tracker). I have to use audacity or
something to resave all my wavs as.. wavs, because whatever
kind of wav most of them currently are it doesn't accept
even though fruity loops does ('unsupported file format')

Yes, you need to learn all of the keyboard shortcuts for it
to be really fun to use and if you are using a laptop you
don't have access to all of the buttons :(

I've never used a tracker before so I wouldn't know whether
the differences are pluses, negatives or just different but
I do feel that some of the features aren't really intuitive.
The thing about highlighting and selected row is something
that still pisses me off though.

I've never had a problem with WAV files loading (apart from
one dodgy Amen).

Yeah, I made do without seperate * and / keys to change
octaves in modplug for awhile but now have it on the desktop
again. I have so much new software I'm trying to tackle all
at once since I'm on a desktop again. Doom Builder is pretty
much perfect; I'm beginning to make really intricate 'IDM'
2.5d architecture.

i never use keyboard shortcuts!
i have no idea why but i just dont.
my renoise using friends have suggested there might be
something wrong with me and they might be right. i still
work a 1000 times faster than them :/ :7 :/|
