Of the original Black Dog the Spanners album aged best, i
think. Check out Bytes as well. Productionwise it probably
sounds a bit dated, but it's still the most imaginative
quirky techno/braindance that's out there. After 15 years...

Your avatar is from the Bytes sleeve. Do I win £5?

I think Spanners has dated more than Bytes, if there is such
a thing as "dating". Bytes still sounds "alien" whilst
Spanners reflects more influences from its time. That said.
BOTH ARE FUCKING EXCELLENT.

That's ok with me, but I think dog_belch is into the "harder
stuff". Although, that depends. To be sure, just bring some
extra goodies. He can be pretty unpredictable with these
things. Lets call it a "have to be in the mood" kind of
thing.

It's no secret that tbd's music was originally meant to be
for Super Mario Bros 1&2&3. Those running dogs you

will the ep's on rising high get reissued as well? or any
previous unreleased stuff from that era? (i thought there
was supposed to be some more)

*anxiously awaiting for the book of dogma to arrive*

the only problem w/ that Rising High stuff is that i think
those people are in hiding. i seem to remember some mad
legal shit going down toward the end and people owing other
people lots of money. any anyway that stuff isn't really The
Black Dog's stuff so much as its Ed and Andy's stuff. Rising
High only called that thing the Black Dog Productions EP
because they wanted to make more money from The Black Dog
name. its really a Balil/Atypic split EP, and then the Balil
EP is just that.

if the rights revert back to The Black Dog now then good on
them, but if they didn't then i wouldn't count on it. hope
i'm wrong for the sake of people that didn't get that BDP
EP.

I've got that EP so.. oooohh, well it's a good'un. When I
went to University I recorded it onto the other side of my
Electro Soma tape to take with me (remember this was back in
prehistoric times), and I still have that tape to this day
as it holds a special place in my heart, "unwanted fact"
fans.

I only had a cheap stereo at the time, this is the days when
students genuinely were poor and didn't moan about only
having 10 grand a month to spend on clothes, and then the
first time I played "Flux" (though I've since been told the
labels were switched on the 12" so it may have been "Otaku")
on my friend G's vastly superior stereo, there's a real low,
quiet, bassy bit in the middle. He laughed and said I bet
you've never even heard that before, and he was absolutely
right.

Totally wrong on all counts, but still very funny ;)

All the rights belong to the three people who wrote the
tracks, not as above.
