Could I be added so it is the three people who wrote the track plus me?

{"...Rising High only called that thing the Black Dog Productions EP because they wanted to make more money from The Black Dog name. its really a Balil/Atypic split EP, and then the Balil EP is just that."
Totally wrong on all counts, but still very funny ;)}
well that is all according to the old Plaid Bubble official
website or old Plaid interviews. it was stated that neither the
artwork nor the name of the record were chosen by the artists. it was said that Rising High chose both to capitalize on The Black Dog name. this is all information from way back so i may or may not be able to locate it but i
will look.
i know this argues w/ The Black Dog, but the Plaid argument
w/ The Black Dog is an old story. ;)
...days of old long forgotten...

Bleep have got "Book of Dogma" on mp3 and FLACformats, which is nice, but the write up is typical Warp bollocks
Long-awaited reissue (and remaster) of the earliest, and maybe best, Black Dog material... umm, there's undeniably more than a few classics, but their best work, their earliest? Oh started off good and then..they just got worse... is that the implication.. Made up of Andy Turner, Ed Handley (both now Plaid) and Ken Downie, the Black Dog were revered as the pre-eminent UK techno pioneers... are revered, are is the word you wanted, .. this early work shows their roots in hip hop, and the development of sounds that would appear later in much of Plaid's work... err, and The Black Dog are still going though, as well.

The book arrived a couple of days ago, and boy does it sound sweet indeed. There's lots of little details which weren't there in my old rips. Especially those old eps gained a lot of 'space', or stereo-image if you will. Sweet indeed!

Hey dog_belch :) don't worry about the spin or indeed the facts, Warp don't! All that counts is the music, we spent a long time remastering the cuts, we just hope people enjoy the tunes and leave the BS for the scenesters.

Absolutely, and I think anyone who appreciates great music, no matter where, when or by whom it was made, doesn't take any notice of the bollocks that inevitably lingers around.
I just take an unhealthy interest in how many times whoever's in charge of providing the Warp write ups recklessly employs variations of the phrase "possibly best work ever" or "best work for some time", which to me only has a negative connotation in terms of suggesting that an artist's other work, by comparison, is sub par.
Still, as said, let this not cloud what is a Bright and Long Awaited Day in Music.

True, true but at the end of the day it's the music that does the talking and for us, getting upset with Warp is pretty much long gone. We're glad the old tunes are out there now so we can focus on the new album, it may just be "some of our best work yet" :)

I took delivery today in the post the "Book of Dogma"... bloody hell... all the tracks are old friends, though some I haven't heard for about ten years, the tracks collected as "Parallel" sound ten times better, even if that's just my imagination, some of the earlier stuff I had recorded on cassette years ago, my only "legit" copy of Virtual was a version on a "KAOS Theory" compilation where it sat alongside, quite nicely, legends such as SL2, and then the crappy mp3s ... but now, lovingly polished up and presented properly, what a gift for the ears. And so many details and layers I'd never even heard before... just incredible. I would say this was, to use a Boomkatism, essential listening for anyone that enjoys electronic music.
I also got a hard copy of "Silenced" after my initial Bleep purchase so I am not stuck entirely in the past, which is a fucking majestic, brooding masterpiece in its own right. Woof, down boy, grrr.

it is great to hear, i just wish Soma hadn't F-ed up the track listing so bad. my copy the tracks on the CD are completely off. it goes something like
CD1 1. Virtual 2. Ambience with Teeth 3. The Weight 4. The Weight (Liposuction Mix) 5. Age of Slack 6. Tactile
...and then the rest is ok. There are little tiny mix differences in "Virtual" and "Tactile" too.

Haha, I still have all the Kaos Theory tapes. Volume 2 was my personal favourite, with some choice old skool classics on the b-side. Ah.... tapes, how I miss them.

just found out Soma messed up the tracks for Book of Dogma and the Virtual reissue. How do you mess up switching Ambience with Teeth and The Weight....it says "the weight" in the song.
