what are those bong-like things called which don't release
any smoke, or very little at that. i can't remmber the name
for the life of me. you suck on the thing but it uses water,
or some different system.

if you know what i mean or have used one, are they any
good...

LAZY_VAPORISER

It's called a vaporiser.

Warning: you don't realise how much you have smoked until it
is too late!!!

i strongly doubt that they are "safer."

then again, what is meant by "safe"? current research says
that smoking cannabis does not cause lung cancer.

your best bet is to smoke in moderation, and smoke high
quality weed. grow it yourself if possible.

if this is a small, sealed, hand-held water pipe, i'd say
that it will probably have problems with clogging. if it's
made of plastic, you may not be able to clean it with
alcohol without damaging the plastic. alcohol is best for
cleaning up tarry residue.

if you're worried about inhaling irritating particulates
along with your THC, you could invest in a vaporizer, tho
i've never used one and they seem to get mixed review and
supposedly are expensive.

If you are concerned about your health, id advice you not to
smoke weed/anything at all. (unless you have arthritis that
is)

I have friends that started smoking weed when they were
13/14, and ten years on, they're really dippy, boring guys.
It's basically a tranquilizer. Taking them all the time
isn't such a great idea, either.

You can kind of make your own semi-vaporizer with a
lightbulb, drinking straw, pen, cokebottle and a knife. It's
very easy.

i had one with a glass-bowl and it sucked.

the metal bowl ones seem to work okay, but i'm told they can
be pretty precarious just because you can burn yourself
pretty easy

theyre safer because you're not inhaling smoke, you're
inhaling just thc vapor, it's done with out fire and at a
specific temperature to avoid any burning

i think the *presumption* is that it's safer, but my
question is, what are the risks of smoking cannabis? if you
believe that thc is harmful to the brain and nervous system,
then a vaporizer is not "healthier."

on the other hand, research into the potential for increased
risk of lung cancer among cannabis smokers has shown that
there apparently is *no* increased lung cancer risk. if
there is no increased risk of lung cancer (presumably the
risk likely associated with smoking pot), then there is no
health benefit to investing in a vaporizer.

thanks for the info chaps... undoubtedly the stuff is
dangerous and most definitely associated with depression and
other psychological problems. i just needed to know what
that thing was called so thanks

Vaporizers suck. They don't get you as high. The ones I've
tried have a metal bowl with a large glass casing around it
and a plastic tube to inhale through. It's a waste of weed.

Oh and weed isn't dangerous. "associated with depression and
other psychological problems" has nothing to do with the
weed but the person who already had psychological problems
to begin with and lazy people who don't go outside enough
and exercise and socialize use weed as an excuse for their
already existing problems.

yeah, exactly, weed can help bring psychological problems to
the surface, that may have lay dormant beforehand -
therefore, it's dangerous

Weed can buggar up your life as much as alcohol if you let
it. I'm not saying no one should smoke it, but to say that
it's totally harmless in all cases is wrong. I've suffered
short term memory loss, and temporary ADD for up to a week
after a heavy weed session.

The short-term memory loss things is quite unnerving.
Somebody went to great lengths to explain to me once that a
cake they had baked had nuts in it, and I'm allergic to
nuts. Five minutes later (I happened to be somewhat under
the influence at the time) and I put the cake in my mouth,
only to spit it on the floor (luckily, or unluckily,
depending on your perspective.) I have no recollection of
them telling me about the nuts; only a memory of their
disturbing rant about how they "had told me quite clearly
about the nuts."

That will perhaps be the most shit, boring story you've ever
read. Sorry.

Yeah, I mean short term memory loss days after.
I would get stoned on Friday nights after school with my
mates, and then on the following Tuesday or whenever forget
to go to lessons, forget things I had been taught in class
five minutes before, forget conversations with people....
And without the weed I was a pretty organised student.

and see for yourself.

i have a close friend that is a heavy weed smoker and he is
a Ph.D. another close friend is a heavy smoker and just
about to get his Ph.D. I myself am a moderate weed smoker
with a college education and a career as a research
scientist.

i'm just saying, it really depends on the person whether or
not they can function in society, even excel, and be a pot
smoker.
