Artic Monkeys rumour.

They are a semi-manufactured band with some old nineties
indie guy helping them write the songs. And they are a bit
older than they say. They suck, whatever.

I like them. Good indie rock band, nice melodies.

I hope it's true. I think a lot of people will realise how
full of shit the NME is, and start listening to some fresh,
original music.

The indie scene has a shitload of amazing bands that are so
much better than Arctic Monkeys and don't get half the
recognistion.

Including:

- The Good Shoes
- Kaito
- Good Books
- The Klaxons
- The Envelopes
- Semi Finalists
- Tom Vek

i think Joe Wilson (sneaker pimps) has been helping produce
the arctic monkeys' stuff, although i'm not 100% on that.

the typeface on their logo has tails like a monkey, but they
never elaborate on the "arctic" bit. they could wear wooly
eskimo clothes when they play or something like that, but
they dont. bastards.

They're talented guys. Its so original to hate bands because
the NME champion them. Interpol, NME darlings, one of the
best bands of the new century, IMO. There's good stuff in
all genres, there's nothing worse than a snob who thinks
that all music outside their narrow taste is inferior.

interpol are ace.

arctic monkeys are dancable on a night out at a shit indie
club. nothing more.

offline Ceri JC from Jefferson City (United States) on 2006-04-12 10:20 [#01877800]

Arctic monkeys are okay. By that I mean "average" as opposed
to good. What I do dislike about them is every trendy
sap in Christendom sychophantically echoes NME et all's
praise for them and for some unfathomable reason a very
average band have been (wrongly) hailed as "the next big
thing". Indeksical sums them up perfectly, "arctic monkeys
are dancable on a night out at a shit indie club. nothing
more. "

Here's a newsflash for you media-led puppets; They will not
be as big as The Beetles, or Oasis, or for that matter even
the Spice girls. They will not be around (or if they are,
they will be charting far lower/less frequently than they
are now) in 5, or even 3 years time.

Incidentally, I really hope the rumour is true.

I really like Artic Monkeys. I think that you can compare
them to a lot of bands before them, but it is easy to see
why they are so big. If you grew up or are growing up in a
shitty northern town, I think it is very easy to identify
with them.

The album reminds me of my youth and attetude at that time
and I think if I had had any talent when I was 19ish, I
belive I would have spoken with a voice simalar to them. But
at that time in my life it would have been Very Metal indeed
\m/

they will just be some shit you hear on the radio now an
then. i doubt they will amount to much more (because they
suck)

I don't know how much hype NME have given them, but in my
experience NME hype buries some bands. My mates band Marion
were NME lovies for a while but failed misarably. And Jamie
became a Smack head and tried to commit an armed robbery in
Macclesfield, where he was probably the most famous person
in the town (Apart from Noddy Holder)

to go out and buy the album. or download it for that matter.
it's wonderful that some of you like the band. i'm very
happy for you. congratulations on liking music. and
congratulations to those that do not like the band. it
really is a great thing that you like other music, or no

Nothing wrong with pop. Britney and Gwen Stefani are great.
I don't think "whinging mopey gits with guitars" is anything
particularly new, interesting or worthy of praise.

A- it is spelt ARCTIC!

B- As Art school pish goes, they are not as bad as Franz
Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs etc.

C - They are still Shite. An Indie Mike Skinner. I don't
want rock bands singing about going out for a curry. I can
do that.

D - They have to be the most acne ridden band I have ever
seen.

E - They should have stayed an Internet Phenomenon.

it is that which I was complaining about.

some bands have appeared that try really hard to exaggerate
the fact that they sing wtih english accents - the feeling,
