[MySpace] I've been blind.

I have just spent a couple of hours plodding about on
MySpace, it's mental...I honestly only really use the
internet for work, this site and not much else, I never knew
the extent of wannabe music makers out there. It's insane.
There seems to be an almost endless desperation by people to
get their souless imitation sounds released by anyone they
can foist it on. It made me question myself though. I don't
really want an official release, it would be nice I suppose,
but I don't think I would actively look for one. My music
may be shit but what crap I make are snapshots of how I feel
and who I am...something which for some reason I sometimes
want to share. Maybe it is just that I don't identify with a
lot of the people out there, I don't know, but I love
listening to and making music for feeling and I don't feel
anything with a lot of the stuff out there.

I got given two bottles of wine for free earlier. I have
half a bottle left and my head is woozy, anyone want a
fight?

99.9% is complete shite. I get sent loads of crap on there
each day. I think it's worthwhile at the moment though as
some people make great things inadvertently or on purpose.
Or just look at the slags on there.

My conclusions so far:

I've came across a few decent things.
I think Hungarians are nuts.
Slags are good if they are real (most of the time the
pictures are of what they beleive their 'inner selves' [I
don't mean spread pussy shots] are like or what they would
look like if they were thin and could afford extensive
plastic surgery)
Some Mexicans sent me a friend request thing and everything
on their site and every comment is in a language I know very
little about.
It's different and fun as well as being depressing and
scary.

i've made it so that "band" or "music" profiles can't add me
as a friend... but they still message me with spam.
fuckers.

'inner selves' on myspace.

It's the under belly and the sad bit sometimes. I've found
it great for keeping in touch with people I've lost cotact
with for years.

Actually I can see it being useful in getting in touch again
with people from the past (not for me though as they won't
allow prisoners to have myspace :P).

Jack: Excellent.

I've met alot of people on myspace with original music and a
great sound. I've also met a tonne of people who don't.
Myspace is just getting too crowded. I don't feel a need to
insult it though, it's got a great interface for artists to
post their stuff.

I am currently working on the largest "Thanks for the

instances of Photoshop and if printed out would be the size
of Wales.

Not that that many people add me.

people people promote there im not too interested, if it's
something good i'll probably get to know it sooner or later.

When Aphex gets a myspace account and actually updates it
himself, the internet will end.

I remember reading an interesting article about myspace in
The Times the other week. It covered the same two points
people here have;

1. It's quite useful for sound people to stay in touch. EG
you bump into an old schoolfriend in town; here's my myspace
site, add me to your friends.

2. It's used by saddo egomaniacs who "collect" friends in a
desperate attempt at an approximation of popularity (or at
least appearing to be popular). Sometimes this is
linked to a need for an outlet for their absolutely shite
musical/artistic activities.

Interestingly, they got a few philosphers/psychologists to
comment on it and they said that the vast majority of
'friendships' were meaningless and it was impossible to have
a close relationship to more than 6-12 people. I agree that
even online it's limited to how many people you can spend
much time talking with/become close to.

I feel like if Richard is a bit down in this last
period, no new live set, no new albums/eps, etc. A new xlt
radio show by him would definitely cheere me up. I think we
need at least it.

i use myspace to let my friends from scotland, manchester
and the like listen to what im up to. its a lot less hassle
then emailing mp3s whenever i get asked. hardly ever add
people cos the place is full of crazies.

offline Anus_Presley on 2006-04-10 04:26 [#01876112]

ahh, myspace is borring rreally. it's ok when you'rre borred
to look arround at peoples prrofiles and stuff, but i find
it totally useless as a means of keeping in contact with
people etc...

offline Anus_Presley on 2006-04-10 04:30 [#01876117]

i like the music section because i don't download mp3s
anymorre, it's nice forr me to look up aphex twin forr
example and listen to a couple of trracks while i mess
arround. but to the rrest of you that's prrobably prretty
useless.

i do feel something from some of the artists on Myspace.

I went on there this morning to check what messages the
celebrity I'm pretending to be has recieved, and I had a
nasty experience with a 14 year old girls page which crashed
my browser and played a really scary version of Gouryella -
Walhalla with cheesy vocals until I managed to force quit
