Weirdest instrument you own...

Perhaps my strangest is a plastic Five-Tone Musical Tube.
It's a grooved plastic tube that, when you swing it around
really fast, it makes a high pitched tone. The faster you
swing, the higher the tone. (I can only get four so far)

I also have a couple of Mbiras, one handmade from South
Africa, with primitive metals, no less!

I know those tubes only as having one tone, not actually
changing very much in pitch once you have it up and
running.

hence there being different ones for different tones.

only natural tones, as those are but a few you'd have to
have more then one, like the key on a trumpet

it's probably the same as with certain flutes where blowing
harder produces different tones.

as such, you just haven't tried hard enough.

I have an mbira too.. handmade from africa as well... I
don't really have any odd instruments, but I can use just
about anything...

no, but it is an indication that it lends itself to be
played by more than one person instead of just one person
dexterously trying to vary the speed and thus the tone.

I have some kind of Ghanaan drum. Its made from carved wood
and animal skin. It was an odd present brought back from a
friends from Africa. What better gift could you ask for. The
same friends also brought me an African wooden witch doctor
mask thing, so with the two together I can get some serious
voodoo shit goin on.

i got given some stringed stick with a headstock and bow
from egypt, also has a sort of tabla built at the end of it,
which i dont use, as i really dont like the sound of
tablas.. they remind me of crap records from the early
nineties which tried to sound "ethnic"

produces a cool electonique style zzzzzap

I bought a gusla, when I was in Croatia. It's their national
instrument (or so I was told). It's not that strange
actually, but I don't own many instruments anyway. It looks
rather similar to the one on this photo.

It's not only a string instrument, it's also some kind of a
drum.

and it's probably called gusle, not gusla, in case i'm
insulting some croatians :)

round this afternoon and I put it on when I opened the door.
He was suitably freaked out and confused :)

please guys help me:

i once saw a guy in the streets playing an strange
instrument that made an amazing sound, like glass bells
sounding or kinda.
it was metallic and looked like a little flying plate, of
more or less 30 cm of diameter.
the guy played it kicking arround the plate with his hands,
and depending of the zone of the plate, it made a different
note...

anyone knows how is it called?

i need one of that...

:)

id love a copy of the manual!!!!

p.s....it shits on the TB-303 from a huge height and its
simpler, less reliable, rarer, and more useful (as a cv/gate
sequencer) ;)

value to end up fucking them up in vain.
