it does cache but if you try to drag the file and copy it
from the temporary internet folder it's name changes to a
dat file, and it you rename it to mp3 it just fucks up and
doesn't play properly. but to be honest i didnt really
expect it to be that easy.

here's how i did it, in winamp:
- drag the link to your playlist
- set winamp to disk write output (to create a .wav-file)
- convert to mp3 [dBpowerAmp]
voila!

the problem is that it'll be a lossy version of a lossy
version

if it's already lossy then you're losing out on no quality
by encoding it with a lossy codec.

THINK GODDAMMIT THINK

offline goDel from ɐpʎǝx (Seychelles) on 2005-09-18 12:29 [#01726734]

you'll lose even more. from mp3 to wav and again to mp3 is
double the loss. compressing it another time with a lossy
codec means you're going to lose extra info.

that personality plugin needs to warm up i hope

and be sure to check for a brain plugin too, while you're at
it

all you have to do is rename the file to boctober.mp3 and
share it on soulseek.

it isn't double the loss....

if the information is stripped out of the sound already, and
it's turned into a wav, it looses no information, since wav
is lossless. There is still, however, information lost at
the top end of the sound, since the source is lossy.

If it's turned back into mp3, there is no loss of
information, since that information is already null and has
been lost long ago.

Of course, if the source is 192kbit mp3 and you end up
encoding it in 96kbit, you will loose data. But if you
re-encode in 192, data won't be lost.

Go fuck yourself with your cheap remarks. You're talking
bullshit.

yet again you've made yourself look like a complete
arsebiscuit. you're wrong of course, your rudeness doesn't
really compel me to tell you why, but clearly you know
absolutetly nothing whatsoever about compression
algorhythms. i suggest you go back to school and learn
something so you then have the right to start mouthing off,
or carry on trying to bluff your way though life and be
continuously ridiculed to the point of self destruction.

by compressing a wav-file to mp3 you'll lose information. no
matter how lossy the source was. surely, this won't be the
case for an empty track or something. but in other cases,
there'll be loss.

if you want to find out, go repeat it ten times. you'll
notice the difference

even without an earplugin, mr cheap remarks

original mp3..i could supply some pics of what im talking

and on another note, this track is wicked!
