My mate received a quality e-mail meant for someone else.
He doesn't know either of the parties involved.
We're trying to think of ways to reply. One of the ideas is
to post this in as many forums as possible and then e-mail
back all the links :)

I know it's a long read but I think it's worth it.

From: **** ***** <******@**********.com>
Date: 21-Aug-2005 05:27
Subject:
To: ******@gmail.com

Tonya,

I can't believe that this thing escalated to this. I have a
temper, yes. Do you feel emotionally or physically
treatened? When I get angry have I scared you in some way
with my behavior? Please talk to me about this. I didn't
want to have sex with you right when you asked(May be i
should have said not right now). I might have felt different
in a little while, but because I said no. I think that made
you angry. I think this is a situation of we need
to understand each other, and how we behave when frustrated.
Or in my case today when I feel so stupid for locking myself
out of the house. I'm pretty hard to reach for awhile after
that. I'm concerned that Mark keeps coming into your lives,
or thoughts to reach out to him. I would like to deal with
that, or understand that his name just comes up at bad
times. I want to better understand how you get nervous
before your doing some
activity, Danskin, Peru etc. and how that brings about
reactions from you, or as you've put it. Your commitaphobe
issues. I think that you tested me today to see if you said
that your not staying with me, that I should have said well
I'll stay with you. I didn't want to stay there because of
being in Dallas the night before, and working this morning.
I really want to get to the bottom of this, and if there's
any truth to it or I'm just crazy. Please don't try to
protect my feelings. If there's anything let it out. I think
we both deserve the truth. I love you, and am hurting very
much to know that you feel so upset with me.

Bill

I knew it was an American long before he mentioned Dallas.
This emotional-openness was of speaking is hilarious.

"I think that made you angry. I think this is a situation of
we need to understand each other, and how we behave when
frustrated."

You could send back to him:

I think you need to snap out of your pseudo-phsychological
meanderings and sort things out: Confront the other party
and demand an explanation as to why they're being, by your
account, a sullen, uncooperative idiot. If they won't give
you one, drop them from you life. Simple.

Well, there was a followup in my mates inbox this morning;
for some reason it was sent as a second e-mail with the
first one above it again. He obviously felt the first one
was so good he'd send it twice. To the wrong address.

-------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to send this to you, probably because i felt that
if i could express myself freely. then you could do the
same. Anything troubling about those expressions could be
addressed. The other stuff would just go away. I felt
exhausted after talking with you, like you say very taxing.
I don't want to be that person, and I don't think you do
either. I want to change my behaviors that have troubled me
all my life. It's the right thing to do, simply.

I love you good night.

Sort of. They share the same last name and first initial.

The dumb bitch actually e-mailed my mate a while ago because
she wanted his gmail address. She seemed to think that
having the same initials as him meant that, even though she
tried to register the e-mail address after him, she should
have first dibs on that account. Obviously my mate said no
but she kept e-mailing him. Then a mate e-mailed him trying
to persuade him to let Tonya have the account. I think that
last bit was right. I know she then started copying him into
her forwards. She's clearly not the brightest of people.

Anyway, that's not the point. The point is it'll be great
fun to fuck with this blokes mind.

I can't think of any nationality, other than American, that
do it that regularly. Of course, not all Americans do it,
but if you come across a letter like that, you can pretty
much guarantee the person who penned it drives a V8, munches

NB: Racial stereotyping in the end of this post is
intended to be ironic.

one of the more annoying aspects of american discourse.

it's like they study teenage tv dramas scrupulously and then

yes, by all means it doesn't apply to all of you, however -

i wasn't referring to it being an indication of being
pussywhipped (as Ceri's post might've lead you to believe,
what with his reccomendation to the guy at the middle of
this whole thing and all)

i just have a problem with this style of "conflict
resolution" that comes from over-exposure to teenage
dramas/soaps and things like Oprah. TV in general.

Maybe, however, this american TV is more of a reflection of
American society than American society is turning itself
into reflection of it...

I'm by no means advocating confrontational discourse when
trying to sort something out... I just really really
hate this style of making-up with someone..

Please don't try to

My post was a light-hearted jibe at you wanting to criticise
me, not the first time, I might add, for
stereotyping/profiling someone based on their choice of
language, 'lifestyle choices' (cringes), etc.

If you're calling me an intellectual snob, fair enough, I do
consider myself 'better' than the sap who wrote the dross in
that email. If you mean a cultural slob, for my mocking
driving obscenely overpowered cars and a fascination with
arms and junk food, as I have already said, that was a light
hearted jibe and sorry for any genuine offence caused. For
the record I like fast cars, enjoy clay pidgeon shooting and
occassionally eat burgers, so I certainly don't consider
myself some sort of cultural elitist.

Redrum:

Genuine LOL at that. For me, "Dawsons Creek" epitomises this
sort of guff.

I must add that the other 45% are players. and 10% are

Seriously the rest of my friends would have cheated on this

Why talk things out when things get intentionally fucked up.
I've girls tell me they pull shit just to fuck with guys and

I think that could go either way. I think it originally
slightly reflected real life situations. Over the course of
time people emulated these TV characters because they have
no personality of their own. So i say its a mix of both for
sure

i think you're absolutely right on your last paragraph.

i think it's a very scary thought, if you ponder it --
consider how little characters in American shows are
developed..... and then consider how famous they are and how
many people must aspire to be them (instead of the real
actors) because of the ideal lives they live.

so, essentially you have people emulating people without
character. as you say, they have no personality of their
own.

terrible :/

I'd say that accounts for a insanely large amount of
american females 85-90%. If you were to stay here (for
example) and went out and tried to meet as many as possible
you would be alarmed at how samey they can be.

Example: How everyone replicated Jennifer Anistons hair
style back in the day. I mean wtf. Didnt one chick say
"wait.. i'd rather be unique"

Redrum, would you say our nation's 'slagazines' (Hello, Ok,
and every other celebrity-obsessed, silly mare's mag out
there) are the cultural equivalent to that sort of TV? They
create a similar sense of empowerment in the individual who
reads them and seem to feed off the idea of making the
person who reads them feel they are better informed, clever,
tactful, and in some cases, cunningly subtley manipulative.

When in actuality, the person concerned, is of course,
reciting verbatim, the meaningless junk the 'journalists'
penned.

Virginpusher:

I think that could go either way. I think it originally

A good point. Ironically, as more people have started
emulating this sort of talking/thinking/behaving, it has
probably actually become more true and accurate.

Ok, giginger told me he'd posted this stuff, so its been
about a year, but I may as well post.

Firstly I'm tm****@gmail.com not tonya, but toby. So ive
been subject to many of her firends boring emails, and now
Bill, her fuck buddy/boyfriend whatever has given me a nice
opportunity to return the favour of emails sent to wrong
people. woo woo!

Personally i think he's weird turning down sex with his
girlfriend......i dunno how old he is, but sex with my
girlfriend is something i plan not to turn down.

So is
A: Tonya a bit on the ugly side
B: Is he a bit worried about his performance
C: Had he whacked 20 off that day?
D: Maybe he wasn't just in the mood. And if he wasn't and
she was i'm sure a few minutes of sucky sucky would of
changed his mind.

I'm interested in who mark is too
A: is he an ex
B: a bugger buddy
C: her dirt track popper
D: the milkman

Perosnally i'm thinking of a response along the lines....

Bill.

I'm sorry about getting frustrated at not having sex, but
I'm affriad its much deeper than sex. I know Mark keeps
coming up and unfortunately thats becuase I have feelings
for him and sinces he's been away these last few days I
needed some satisfaction. I'm sorry that I don't want to be
with you, I really want Mark. I just felt emotional and
needed a good seeing too, I justed wanted it once more
before I told you face to face that i don't won't to be with
you.

Feel free to edit/suggest, re write this baby. I'll
probably send it around 10 o clock london town time
