Toby, how are you mate, long time no see :)

This is pure gold. Maybe rephrase 'needed a good seeing too'
as 'needed to be intimate with someone' as the original is a
bit too Anglicised and might give the game away (although it
is funny as feck).

Re: Your multiple choice questions, I'll go for 'C' & 'C'.

For anyone who thinks what they're doing is a bit cruel, I
would like to point them to: [#01703011]. Anyone who acts
like that (or associates with people who do) deserve
everything they get IMO.

Re: the end of email 'this isn't tonya', wait for a response
to the first one before sending that. That way you can be
sure he has read it and endured a period of heartache first
>:D

I hate to be a party pooper, but I find it a wee bit fucked
up that y'all can get a kick out of messing with other
people's business. Fair enough, the guy may be a total
doughnut with the IQ of a choc ice, and he sent the email to
the wrong address, but I don't really see the fun in
meddling with this cunt's life!

Again, sorry to be a bore.....

intimate is probably a more suitable response. Depends how
much of dirty ho she is ;)

Maybe we go for lets meet at McDonlads and talk reponse. I
checked out his email address comes from some compnay in
austin texas, so we could have some fun with that too.
Obviously she won't go, but it could be funny to see his
email about why she wasn't there.

I'm not bad Ceri, trying to watch as much "lost" as possible
before going back to Uni. (It beats watching Eastenders)

Redrum, would you say our nation's 'slagazines' (Hello,
Ok,
and every other celebrity-obsessed, silly mare's mag out
there) are the cultural equivalent to that sort of TV? They
create a similar sense of empowerment in the individual who
reads them and seem to feed off the idea of making the
person who reads them feel they are better informed,
clever,
tactful, and in some cases, cunningly subtley manipulative.

Yes, I'd agree with that wholeheartedly. Another form of
"fake empowerment", for want of a better phrase, is their
dogged quest for and publishing of photos of celebrities not
looking their best. I figure the the dim-witted readers have
with these photos is down to the fact that it probably makes
them feel better about their own ugly selves.

But yes, you're absolutely right, people learn off tracts
from these rags and recite them verbatim and do indeed seem
to believe they're discussing something monumental in
current affairs when they do. I really can't understand the
person who loves these magazines though; and there are so
many of them about. It's sheer mindlessness. I just don't
get it..

Maybe this e-mail is some kind of marketing ploy, you reply,
start an internet correspondence with the sender, they they
start recommending products to you.

I don't care if it's heartless. She's a mentalist anyway.

My post was a light-hearted jibe at you wanting to
criticise
me, not the first time, I might add, for
stereotyping/profiling someone based on their choice of
language, 'lifestyle choices' (cringes), etc.

when was the first time? i don't want to criticize
anybody, but when you said that you knew he had to be an
american because of the hilarious way he worded his email
(his godawful email i might add) i felt slighted. the email
is very melodramatic and silly, but there are melodramatic
people all over the world. he is obviously an idiot who
watched too much television and doesn't deserve to ever get
laid but it's not because he's an american and i feel like
you are jumping to this conclusion.

Genuine LOL.

Mimi:

when was the first time?

A thread about veganism 6 months or so ago. I made a
slightly unkind remark about how I considered it pretty
unnatural (based on the fact that most vegans I've met took
vitamin supplements) and that even though they did this,
they seemed to be more susceptible to illness than your
typical omnivore, or even vegetarian. That's all the past
though and I probably shouldn't of brought it up. Sorry for
that.

i don't want to criticize anybody, but when you said that
you knew he had to be an american because of the hilarious
way he worded his email (his godawful email i might add) i
felt slighted. the email is very melodramatic and silly, but
there are melodramatic people all over the world. he is
obviously an idiot who watched too much television and

I agree all countries have their idiots (see my discussion
with redrum), we certainly do. The reason I could tell he
was American (I can honestly say I was 90%+ sure he was,
prior to getting to the part of the email that confirmed
it), wasn't his idiocy: I know plenty of intelligent
Americans; more the particular way his idiocy was show.
Namely, his awful, derivative writing style, that sounds
like something off Oprah. I maintain that this particular
flavour of stupidity is one largely found in America,
although of course, there are a few Brits who've watched a
bit too much American TV and consequently talk like that. We
have just as many idiots in the UK, it's just that they tend
to base their (equally stupid) opinions on our equivalent
show 'Trisha', rather than the American style of
psycho-babble.

My racist stereotyping regarding guns, burgers etc. was
intended to lighten the comment (by showing it was intended
in a slightly jocular manner), but seems to of caused
offence and for that I apologise.

Glad you agree the guy is a dolt though.

Perhaps an email along the lines of:

"Hi Bill, I know it has been a while and we didn't leave
things as well as we could have, but I've really missed you.
Over the past year I've thought about us a lot and would
really like to give it another shot. Please ring me if you'd
like to meet up again and maybe try and pick up where we
left off...

Tonya.xxx"

would kick things off again? >:D
